Fallout series

The Shi? Not as near as I can tell. But the games have never particularly adhered to the endings. The BoS post FO1 was supposed to spread out into the wastes, slowly reintroduce tech, and focus on research and development while staying out of the affairs of everyone else, much like a hard sciences counterpart to the Followers.
I think we'll see the Shi again in the future. Bethesda told Obsidian to omit a dialogue line from Colonel Hsu that stated San Francisco got glassed by the Enclave to avenge the Oil Rig's destruction (something I think was going to happen in the backstory for Van Buren), Fallout 4 referenced them in Kellogg's backstory, and they're the only West Coast faction to get armor & weapon paint in the Creation Club (this might be iffy since it was made by a modder paid by Bethesda, but still).

I kinda thought San Francisco was a little underutilized for its size in 2 (I thought the same of the LA Boneyard in 1, hope we see more of it too), so I'd be down for a game set there that can expand upon the Shi and any other nearby factions. It'd be neat to see a version of SF that isn't as much of a shit-ridden hellhole.

I’m always a little iffy with Advanced Tech in Fallout, and same for Tribals. It’s a tenuous line that I don’t think anyone has gotten quite right. Arroyo and The Shi were a little ridiculous, whereas Shady Sands and The Enclave fit better. Honest Hearts and Old World Blues stuck out a bit too much on both ends. I think more groups like the Kings or Khans or Vipers would be more fitting. Novac also stands out as a good idea of what “tribals” should be like; not completely regressed, but definitely set back. As for Advanced Tech, NCR and the Followers are definitely more interesting.

Anytime you can just wave your hand and say “they’re stupid because tribal” or “they’ve got tech because they’re so advanced” it cheapens the world. Really, what flaws were there with the Shi?

I could buy that the Lone Wanderer wanted to return to monke after being cramped in a vault and then subjected to the horrors of amoral science run amok.

On that point, I was a bit weirded out at how inept they made NCR seem on the tech side (in NV that is). Supposedly they got pissed off by the Followers, kicked them out, and made their own sciencey OSI with blackjack and hookers. So all’s well and good. But now they can’t figure out power armor anymore? They just rip out the complicated bits and make it into super heavy plate armor. Additionally, Lonesome Road basically made the NCR look at pre-war tech and say “DURRRRR funny symbols maybe make big boom??”

I would love to see the Enclave expanded in future releases. They were much more than just the Rig and Raven Rock. In fact, I argue that they really shouldn’t be called Enclave at all. They were just the remnants of America. They didn’t refer to themselves as “the Enclave”, just as America — US army, US chemical corps, President of the US, etc. The term Enclave arguably is used internally in only one place: it’s the codename of the Oil Rig, “control station ENCLAVE”. I know this is weird especially after 3 came out, but okay through 2 and look for any “Enclave” NPCs using that word.

TL;DR, I guess: A lot of New Vegas fans are stupid/delusional enough to think Microsoft will make a New Vegas remake or sequel or whatever. And I fucking hate them for it.
In general most people seem to blame big bad Bethesda for all of NV's issues , and now that Microsoft , who probably have the least worst reputation of any major game company in the west , own both people expect a 2nd new vegas , and of course no one really remembers outer-worlds because it was so bland so they just think "New new vegas" and get 20 trillion likes. tis the repercussions for NV becoming a meme farm , along with the whole tranny thing.

I think Obsidian needs to cut their teeth with The Outer Worlds 2 or Avowed before letting them have another whack at Fallout beyond supporting Bethesda. I've got nothing but doubt in their capabilities after how mediocre TOW was, I don't want to imagine fan reactions if a theoretical "New Vegas 2" (I hope that's a name for a new Obsidian Fallout rather than being literal...) was just as bland and hollow.

Personally i want another company to try a fallout game , its probably a monkeys paw , but id really like to see fresh eyes and hands touch the fallout ip and make something really new , obsidian needs to stick weird space shit and world of tanks clones

Worshipping a factor like its perfect is iroically going against the whole point of FNV. There is no perfect faction and all endings have their pros and cons. But some have more than others and I usually notice more long term cons with the legion, they are ultimately a single man's power trip while taking advantage of guilable tribals and NCR haters. I dont know, I just get a modern politics vibe to the whole worshipping thing, as if FNV can be "connected" to IRL politics...

Given the Legion's success by taking what would Gage recommend to the courier, they actually have a chance to establish long term success for a bunch of Tribals living in the Arizonian wastes which never had a successful unifying figure because they sucuumb to vice or their underlings start doing drugs, having recreational sex and indulging themselves. New Vegas is the Legion's Nuka World, taking it means the tribals now have a purpose to settle on these lands and continue the legacy of Caesar. Remember there is no internal resistance to the regime unlike how Powder Gangers made a mess of the NCR

And this is one thing I got to hand to Bestheda is them giving cues about what would a properly Legion aligned companion be through Gage

You kind of bring a good point I never really had the words to put it. The NCR in FNV doesnt feel much like F2's NCR.

Now sure, you can say thats the natural decay of democracy (Lord knows we are experiencing that enough IRL) but I think there just wasnt enough time to justify that the time span between both games.

F2 kind of treated them as the definitive factor for the future of the wasteland and yet we see them already "decaying" if you can really call it that.

I always felt that letting President Kimball die aws the better option for the faction long term. Its clear he isnt fit for the job and maybe someone else will be able to do a slightly better job. The problem of the NCR is that they have good people led by bad people.

Anyone who dislikes old world blues is a fool, and the wacky retro-future tech is one of my favorite parts of fallout.

Did the NCR ever have power armor? I thought in the FO1/FO2 days the only people to have working suits in any quantity were the BoS and later the Enclave USA. They're extremely maintenance-intensive, after all. Keep in mind the NCR salvaged PA is the T-45d suit, which cooks the wearer unless they wear an asbestos-lined undersuit, and requires a great deal of specialized training as a result.
Intended to serve as the under-armor of the T-45d power armor, the recon armor is a vacuum-sealed asbestos jumpsuit covering the entire body. Attached to it is the interface and mounts for the T-45d power armor. Its purpose is twofold - it allows the user to actually operate the armor and protect soft tissue from heat and moving parts inside the suit. Unlike the under-armor for the T-51b power armor models, this one is also designed to offer limited protection from small-arm weapons.
Ditching the servos allows any ordinary trooper to wear it and removes the need for the specialized recon suit, and replacing the rad scrubber with an air conditioner means its probably more comfortable to stand around in on guard duty than say, the solid black ranger combat armor.

As to the T-51b, coming from the ZAX AI at WestTek in FO1:
The T-51b powered infantry armor is designed with the latest passive defense features for both civilian and military disturbances. The back-mounted TX-28 MicroFusion Pack generates 60,000 Watts to power the HiFlo hydraulic systems built into the frame of the suit. Made of the latest poly-laminate composite, the T-51b shell is lightweight and capable of absorbing over 2,500 Joules of kinetic impact. The 10 micron silver ablative coating can reflect laser and radiation emissions without damage to the composite subsurface.
Not exactly the sort of thing you can build or maintain without a dedicated industrial base like the NCR is attempting to rebuild in the Boneyard or say, an entire caste of maintenance personnel like the BoS has.

Not really? They've successfully grown well beyond what anyone thought they could. Just look at Cannibal Johnson's dialogue. Too far and too fast, maybe, without the infrastructure or backbone to support their far-flung forces, but even so it would just be minor shrinkage or a halt to expansion as they refocus on internal development to connect and support those places. You're not wrong about Kimball leaving office being better for them long-term (being forced out in disgrace is much better than dying during his speech for obvious reasons), mostly because its clear that expanding as far as Vegas has already seriously taxed them. That said, they're winning their war with the BoS in California with 2 bunkers successfully taken and 4 more abandoned by the BoS to prevent their capture, with the losses Helios One crippling the Brotherhood in Nevada for years until the NCR is weakened dealing with all of its problems. Keep in mind that according to House entire platoons of NCR troops have died trying to take out BoS bunkers, not necessarily succeeding, so they have manpower to spare, Dialogue with Gloria Van Graff about how the NCR can field a really, really big army and how they paid five times what Caesar offered during Birds of a Feather also makes it pretty damn clear they're far from faltering. Its just that New Vegas is at the absolute ass-end of their logistics chains and infrastructure.

have you considered any of the total conversion mods for fo2? they aren't cannon but Nevada, resurrections and what ive seen of yesterday and Sonora are good fun and written well enough where it fits.

well microsoft seems to be ok with long term planning right now so if a game takes a while to hit the sales they want but keeps people on game pass or generates buzz they might make nv2. bout as likely as arcanum 2 but its possible. the issues going to be its not the same people making them so it won't feel right to long time fans

Microsoft owns Inxile and Fallout. I trust Inxile with making Fallout.
Funnily enough, I've been thinking of the possibility of inXile remaking the original Fallout in the style of the new Wasteland games to celebrate its 25th anniversary (a simple remaster won't work since Interplay lost the source code years ago). It can use the same engine and most of the same systems (combat might have to be adjusted to have less focus on cover), it wouldn't cost as much as a new mainline title, and it can help keep the brand from going dormant outside of 76 updates (hell, this might lead to a remake of 2 or even new games in this style).

Maybe I'm just being optimistic since this is Fallout's 25th anniversary, I'd settle for Fallout 4 getting its CC content bundled like Skyrim.

You know, question. I dont want to have to boot up new vegas to confirm that but about Veronica and the BOS. Ik if you blow them inside their bunker and tell Veronica that that you killed them all but not just the paladins, but the scribes and the elder too, she gets pissed and tries to kill you.

But I began to think "what if you dont tell Veronica, get her as a companion and go to the bunker? Would she try to access it but get no response? Would she instantly blame you?"

Can someone clarify what would happen ?

I remembered I entered the bunker with Veronica and blew it with her.
When I talked to her, she basically quit as companion

Ik thats what happens but what I meant is if you blow it up and then go to Veronica and get her as a companion (then go to the blown up bunker with her)
