Im pretty sure Obsidian said in the past there was cut content from the Quarry but honestly I completely forgot about Vault 19 until it was mentioned in this thread, that is how forgettable it is.
 
Only memorable part of Vault 19:
"Hey stranger, get rid of the geckos in the cave."
"Okay!"
*blows up entire cave with C4*
"I got rid of the geckos!"
"Get the fuck out"

It's actually not at all a bad idea for a Vault experiment, and the few surviving logs are certainly creepy. They just didn't do much with it. Makes me wonder if they had some requirement to have the same number of Vaults as FO3 did and they got stuck for ideas.

In general i think the powder gangers were massive victims of cut content, the fact you can't retake the prison if you don't side with them in goodsprings reeks of unfinished plot lines, the fact vault 19 was most likely only revealed to players for the first time during the end slides does make your theory very likely (its also FNV 90% of the game dev time went towards cut content)

I often wonder about the fact the Powder Gangers have access to oodles of explosives and shaped charges, the vaguely sketched notion that the NCR was using pre-war rail lines as a mode of transportation, the fact there are railroad tracks that can be followed along large portions of the map (not to mention the dead locomotives we find here and there), and it strikes me there may have been a much more elaborate rail-focused infrastructure that was supposed to be part of the game.

The powder gangers seem to be heavily based on a faction from van buren, the NCR:CF was used as a work release prison where under military supervision, the prisoners would keep the train tracks clear so the trains from boneyard and the NCR at large could send large amounts of supplies to the mojave. The NCR stopped moving trains when the Prisoners revolted, but maybe early on they considered having post game content regarding killing the powder gangers and reopening the rail connection?

Its explicitly mentioned by Chomps Lewis at Sloan that they broke the limestone down into cement and then shipped it by rail to Boulder City. If you look across the map there's the rail line that goes from right outside Quarry Junction and then heads north to the East/West line that passes north of Black Mountain and all the way to the Boulder City to the East.

I'm sure you can find the big overhead landmarks like the REPCONN Test Site, Helios One, and yes, the giant quarry, and from the quarry the thin black rail line just to the East, which then runs north to Fiend territory, through the industrial areas of West Vegas, and then up to Nellis, and then down south all the way to Nipton and Crescent Canyon, and the line that snakes east all the way to the Boulder City cement mixing plant. It also extends to the gypsum mine to the northeast through the mountain tunnel, which if still viable would give the NCR a big help, assuming the Deathclaws can be cleared away.

I like to think that the NCR has either slowly started rebuilding old rail lines or has a large chunk of old rail lines operational back west if they're using trains to haul goods.
 
Any tricks to make Fallout 3 more stable? Playing GOTY on steam but it quite likes to crash if i even breath on it.

There are modding guides like Viva New Vegas that make the game more stable and difficult, they have a version for 3 and a Tale of Two Wastelands

Recently completed the Dead Money dlc and fuck me that was the most annoying shit ever. Loved Old World Blues, the Indian themed one was eh ok, but Dead Money absolutely drive me mad. The shock collar that explodes your head while you're trying to explore is the most annoying thing ever.

Got Lonesome Road left to play, left it till last.

When you can get ahold on the mechanics of the thing, Dead Money has far and away the best story and the best characters of all the DLC.

I kept hearing people say that when looking up tips and strategy. Completely disagree, it's overrated. Didn't give a shit about the characters or the story. Old World Blues is 10 times a better story and 10 times more fun.

I didn't mind the setting of Dead Money, though. Pretty cruisy.

Dead Money is the perfect way to test if your build, and more importantly your ability to monitor your surroundings is good or not imo, if you have a hard time then its clear that one of the two clearly needs work and frankly from my experience it seems the only people who dislike it are the kinds who suck dick.

I've always seen Dead Money as more of a slog than a hard DLC, don't think i've ever had any issues regarding difficulty with it.
