Fallout series

I should just find a good fucking pen and paper system from the ones that already exist and play through my own scenario with a couple of friends. I know the solution is to produce something that you like and can share with others.
Fallout wasteland warware is actually pretty good, it has a bunch of characters from NV but only 2 from 1 & 2, Marcus and Frank Horrigan.
It even has a pretty good solo mode.
Most of the units, item, weapons, etc cards are free on the website

Or you can use the GURPS system the original games were based on

Not great, not terrible. But after watching the second episode I'm starting to hate it. They did a very poor job of making the world feel alive. The fact that all the main characters just stumble upon each other randomly and coincidentally does a lot to show how shallow the "wasteland" is. It's not a sprawling mysterious wilderness, but a series of heavily contrived sets filled with mediocre props.
This is how every show is written. The characters live in giant cities and towns and metropolitan areas of sometimes tens of millions of people. But they all run into the same five characters over and over. It's even more absurd in science-fiction shows with multiple planets or worlds. The extreme levels of pure chance and coincidence to lazily move the characters along in their plotlines strains credulity and borderlines on pure absurdity and insanity. Where characters encounter each other repeatedly in such unbelievably unrealistic and 1-in-a-million odds chance that it breaks the fourth wall to the audience.

Some of the most popular shows of all time do this and the fans do not care. Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Silicon Valley, the list is probably endless. Where the characters just fall into place without any explanation other than pure coincidence. Modern movies do not even try to explain where the plot has gone with audience. Giving us all time hilarious writing like "Somehow....Palpatine returned". How? Why? Who cares? Just accept it. Consume.
Fallout wasteland warware is actually pretty good.
The Fallout Board Game from FFG is good as well (you need both expansions though to get a full developed game though). There are probably thousands of talented writers and creators out there who could make New Vegas level of stories in the Fallout universe but will never get the chance. So mediocre no talent goyslop churners at Bethesda can monopolize an IP that they didn't even create (and essentially stole).

So if this is after the events of new vegas, nuking of ncr aside... Where are the tunnelers? Y'know, the plague of mutant pack hunters that can tear a deathclaw to shreds that should've emerged and destroyed the areas around vegas.

To be fair they could have, we only see a single shot of vegas and then the credits scene of vegas, totally possible that the Tunnelers did fuck up vegas after the NCR went into chaos.

@Judge Holden That is a very interesting theory you got there with the Legion and Brotherhood. Shame it came from people who didn't even know who Sinclair is or where the fucking capital of NCR is located, so this cannot be anything but coincidence.
Good idea to incorporate into a piece of fanfiction or a mod. As far as I am concerned, that's the only real authority on Fallout canon and direction anymore. Todd is a retard that doesn't know what he's doing ditto for Emil and Bethesda hasn't released a decent product in a decade. What they think or what they do doesn't matter or impact me, as well as many other people within the actual community. If anything, the TV show is a litmus test: If anybody is defending it, they need to be shown their way back to the shortbus of the fandom, along with unironic Fallout 76 fans and the loudest toddlers. People forget that there was a 10 year gap between Fallout 2 and Fallout 3, the community didn't need Todd or Bethesda to survive back then and they sure don't need him now. Especially with many other good post apocalyptic titles that also scratch the itch, like the new Wasteland games also being freely available.

IT AIN'T HAPPENING, not in the foreseeable future.

TL;DR The new Bethesda "next gen" mod will introduce the new command line, that will fuck up the mod, and they need to fix and adjust the mod once the update drops.
This isn't actually quite as bad as you think. Bethesda is infamous for breaking mods with their updates, this is nothing new and will continue to happen.
Now, London in particular has been show to be pretty much content complete, there is too much footage and info floating around to just straight up call it vaporware, so I do trust the devs when they say they're done or nearly done with it. I have to remind you all that last major Fallout fan release was Fallout Frontier, and I don't have to point out how much of a disaster that was. Forget the actual content, controversy with the devs or the sex lizards for the moment, you have to remember that the game was also HORRIBLY buggy and sometimes nearly unplayable at launch. Even with the latest patches the mod is very unstable. Last thing we need is another Frontier launch, and I hope devs realize this. That's why I think there is such a focus on making sure everything is perfect at launch, I think the community will just lose all faith in big projects if we have a Frontier 2.0 on our hands here.
That said, I do think they should just release the current version of the mod on promised launch day and let people who have older version of the game "beta test" it while they get the Next Gen version ready, with various patches and content updates. That would be for the best, but if they do indeed need a little bit more time to add polish or squash bugs, now would be the time to do it. This doesn't bother me as I think I will do a test Fallout 4 run just to make sure everything runs smoothly for me, but for people really looking forward to the mod I suggest not holding your breath and playing something else in the meantime. I doubt this will just become lost media, the project had too much build up and hype surrounding it to just disappear for a pack of smokes at this point.

the sheer tism of Caesar's Legion fans this last decade or so has been so downright obnoxious I would be happy to see them taken down a peg or two and then forced to take a pegging or two.
we can't help being superior

Basically someone realised that the names and nomenclature and shit of the shows BoS is suspiciously.....roman with the organisation explicitly called a legion and everyone having names like Maximus, Titus, Thaddeus and Quintus. Moreover they seem a whole lot more Red color coded than any previous chapter and seem to be depicted as having a base smack bang in the middle of what should be Legion territory.

So what if this was actually intentional?
Doubt it, from all I've seen they turned the BoS into poor man's WH40k Space Marines.

There are so many moving parts and things set up on the show that I have no idea nor hope that they will be able to connect them in any cohesive way.

The dumbest thing about the ending is that the sole reason the dad is kept alive is because they had to have him run away to Vegas otherwise the 3 main character's arcs would've ended right there and then if they killed him.

*sigh* God damn it, Drinker. Either he never played the games and merely pretends he does or he is a sellout, neither would surprise me.
One of my friends had sent this to me earlier in the day, I immediately knew who it was but hadnt seen his vids for a while, never liked him and got weird vibes from his videos, either way this video just proves further hes a grifter/sellout.

He is a huge faggot. Stop following YouTubers and other social media losers for your own personal mental health. Just play the games you like. Watch the movies and shows that you like. And do not give them the time of day. They just want engagement and clicks. Even if he said he hated the Fallout Amazon show what should it really matter to you?

I'm not surprised Drinker shilled the fallout show after previously shilling the latest god of war walking sim. I forget if there were other things he shilled, but I'm sure this won't be the last time he shills garbage
I am not going to defend him but it doesn't seem like a shill, rather he is not a fan of fallout so is fine with the slop. I know a few people who loved Rings of Power because they never read Tolkien or saw the movies. We all do this. I do hope he has a discussion with fans of fallout to maybe get that perspective.

Fallout humor was really fucking dark in places and it had to be because of the world it was set.
while true, i have a strong feeling the humor of fallout 3/4/76 is as dark as you're making it out to be.
But God forbid anyone in that world says this:
it was the late 90s. Outside of the Hangover and Strangers with Candy i can't name any works made in the last 20 years where people use the word faggot.
y and 100% not astroturfed reddit
its been like that since the Punisher days, you couldn't say the punisher tv series was dogshit until the show was canceled then the real opinions were allowed. watchmen had a similar shilling and even the supposed "fan boys" if you argued with them post season finale acted like they never even heard of The Watchman
the Courier became House’s fixer
what did House do that the Courier couldn't? Benny was House's original right hand man too and he was willing to let him die the second he found a younger model. for all we know its a sith rule of two situation and you'll have 4 other couriers ready to take your spot.
While its only been a decade the culture in the west has changed alot in those 9 years.
exactly, i'd say culturally the 2010s had as much societal change as the 1960s. the rest of the decades were fairly steady but culture changed so much its insane. in 2014 the top posts on reddit were "revenge porn" of famous women, an entire rip of a major motion picture, and multiple posts shittalking either feminists or blacks. especially saying how uppity black people were. 5 years later you couldn't even call a woman fat on reddit.

Outside of stuff like wars, there was very few thing i can thing of that went super 180 in 5 years. We went from people in 2012 saying you can joke about rape to not even being allowed to say mean things about rapists being let out of jail on cash free bail because they're black.

I guarantee you a fallout tv show that came out in 2011 would have been a lot more raunchy and closer to canon
and weird mix of oddly sexual but sanitized.
not to give props to redbar, but mike david called it out about a decade ago with big jay oakerson's "edgy" comedy. curse words and sex references are acceptable to almost everyone outside of the whitest of societies and places. You can say all the jokes you want about black dick, but call him a nigger and it stops being acceptable.

Another example is that huge post on Twitter, a guy modded the leading lady's body as a joke and everyone got all up in arms, if it was a nun he did that to it would be acceptable but a strong woman protag is sacred to these kikes.

You have to remember this is being released on Amazon that gets away with the same shit on The Boys, except its even sillier, they'll have their nazi character that never uses any unacceptable terms. Which is even more amazing because the Hangover in 2009 had people using all the words.
so many people get in the Vault that it'll be generations before incest can even be remotely considered.
not to go sperg on you but in the west coast vaults wasn't it only 1000 at most, and thats with hot bunking. even if you assume genders were equal and everyone was of breeding age. 500 couples after 10 generations would really have to keep track to avoid incest. if you go on the population numbers in the first fallout there was barely more than 50k people in Southern California by the time the game happens, meaning every death is rather significant.
or where the fucking capital of NCR is located,
i was going to say, Shady sands would be a terrible capital
r. Either he never played the games
to be fair by "played the games" you mean two computer RPGs from the late 90s and one game that connects to it released in 2010. its rather easy to understand why he may not have played them
The characters live in giant cities and towns and metropolitan areas of sometimes tens of millions of people.
the way they explained it in Seinfeld was because they all lived on the same island and you do tend to run into the same people, especially as a comedian when there's only 20 areas you and your friends hang out its rather easy to run into the same fuckers all the time. But yes it was an obvious way of making the world smaller and does sort of fuck with the logic and canon of humans on planet earth, but it was a comedy show and the best way to explain giving Bryan Cranston and other characters more appearances on the show.

I do hope he has a discussion with fans of fallout to maybe get that perspective.

Why should he bother?
