Fallout series

  • Happy Easter!
I've been on a bit of a Fallout binge for the last couple of days. I was introduced to the series with Fallout 3 when it came out for the 360 in 2008 and have enjoyed it and New Vegas. I retired my 360 after starting a family, but I splurged a little and bought both Fallout 3 and NV on the Steam summer sale.

I'm having some difficulty running 3 on Windows 8, though. I can get it to run for about twenty to thirty minutes, and then it'll crash. I'm having better luck with NV, which is relatively stable.

Replaying New Vegas has been awesome. I'd forgotten how much I despise the Legion.

Am I seriously the only person who like Legion?
"I want to have my revenge. Against him. Against Caesar. I want to call it my own, to make my anger God's anger. To justify the things I've done."
Anyway they were the perfect fit for my wasteland samurai character. They have their faults but at least they are in the open rather then hidden like the NCR

I've played through the Legion missions, and I can kind of see their point of view. Still didn't stop me from assassinating Caesar with a chainsaw.

I like Arizona Killer and the finale for the Legion. Specifically how you assault General Oliver in the dam and he sets up traps and stuff, and hides himself within rooms filled with dozens of NCR Veteran soldiers. It's certainly significantly more badass of a finale than the one for all the other endings.

Recently made this armor in Nifskope. Supposed to be some kind of hitman/contract killer armor.

I also killed Jace. No stream next week either, sorry gamers.

So I have a question about the NCR. If they won their war against the Legion and didn't have to use all their resources fighting them would they stop sucking so much? It might just be me but it seems most of their problems are because they are focused entirely on the Legion. Also does the Legion have a bright future after Caesar dies?

Personally, I doubt the NCR is going to stop sucking so much. The NCR was just as corrupt in F2. They aren't entirely focused on the Legion, they're focused on expanding into new territory. As for the Legion, no. The Legion's biggest issue is they follow Caesar not Caesar's ideals.

Actually, they barely have anything committed to fighting the Legion. Those serving in the Mojave are largely considered reservist forces and are a small fraction the NCR military might. They have much more forces focused in California (they are the New California Republic after all) in Sandy Shores and the Boneyard. Both are rather large places and full of danger (The Boneyard, aka old Los Angeles) being a cesspit of violence and hard
living conditions all focused in a twisted mass of burnt out metal towers.

To put it into perspective, the NCR completely wiped out the last Enclave stronghold (The Poseidon Oil Rig) and seized major property from the Brotherhood. They have the resources, the men, and the experience needed to defeat the Legion but not necessarily the drive. Rarely does anyone in Nevada give a shit about the NCR and the feeling is often mutual.

I'm sad to hear that about the NCR but I believe it. I always heard that about Caesar and the Legion and doubt the future will be good with Lanius in charge and maybe a manipulative Vulpes. It seems that a loose collection of independent cities and settlements is the best hope at a continuing survival at humanity then. Is there any real faction that has it's shit together in the fallout universe?

The Followers of the Apocalypse are saintly

Pretty much just the Followers and certain Brotherhood chapters.

I really liked the Followers. Just like, "Guns? Well, sure, we've got guns for protection and all that, but what we could really use is some medicine."

It was also really surreal that they were in the old Mormon Fort, because I've actually been to the real place it's based on.

Which Brotherhood chapters in particular? A lot of the Brotherhood that I know of hoard technology a little too much and fight against terrible odds to survive like against the NCR or the Super Mutants.
The followers I agree with, they seem to be the best hope of keeping humanity alive.

I have a theory that has caused great offence whenever I have posted it which I shall now share.
Remember in F3 how the brotherhood were defending that faggot 3dogs radio station ? Why the fuck were they doing that ? (And none of this "fighting the good fight bollocks).A nearly finished water purifier isn't worth defending but a radio station is ?
My theory is this. Elder Lyons used to have regular buttsex with 3dog.
It explains it all perfectly.

Foulmouth may have a deep hatred for 3dog and the brotherhood.

I doubt it was Elder Lions that had the three dog butt sex but maybe someone high up in the chain of command like Paladin Vargas, he does make a trip there and once you leave who knows what happens. They say it a port in the storm but I don't think it's location is that strategic to the defense of anything. Maybe the Brotherhood uses his equipment for their own radio broadcasts that you never hear. The brotherhood has like what four outposts in DC and they have like 3 or 4 dudes guarding them each and yet GNR has a full compliment. Foulmouth I think you might be on to something.
