Fallout series

Lamplight is the prime case of "game logic" and "don't think about it" from Fallout 3. No matter what their lore is it doesn't make sense. I mean they hate outsiders and leave as soon as they are of age and yet Lamp light is always full of kids. I think the genocide actually happened soon after the bombs fell but Lamplight is full of kids 200 years later just because its unique.

I figured the only "explanation" is some of the kids getting pregnant and giving birth before they hit 16 and get chucked out.
Which technically makes F3 kiddie porn ........

Also does the Legion have a bright future after Caesar dies?

I killed Cesar (he's nonessential) before the Honest Hearts Mission and Joshua Graham commented that Lanius is a warrior, but not a leader. I'll see what Ulysses has to say in "Lonesome Road" next...

Brotherhood of Steel was more of a shadow organization in Fallout 2. If you speak to one in San Francisco, he'll put you on a mission to steal intel from the Enclave Base in Navarro and give you access to a vacant bunker that has a bunch of OP stuff for a low-level character. That's about it. They seem to get along with the NCR in this game.

I always support the Followers of the Apocalypse.

I seriously think they forgot that the game was supposed to be set hundreds of years after the war in Fallout 3, like there's a ton of characters who seem to remember the world before the war even though there's no reason for them to.

Everyone remember Colin Moriarty? The Irish bartender in F3?

Did Bethesda forget that since the end of the war nobody has crossed the Atlantic and that there's actually surprisingly little information about countries in the lore other than the 'states?

In the case of Ghouls it sorta makes sense if they remember pre-war stuff. Since they can live longer. Same with super mutants.

It's also worth noting that nuclear fallout doesn't stay in water for more than 100 years, so the plot is inherently nonsensical as well. Then again it does take place in an alternate timeline so I'll give it a pass.

Nearly everyone in the game is nonessential in New Vegas. Caesar is notable in that you can still work for the Legion if you kill him. However the only way you can do this is if you intentionally botch the surgery you do for him and pass a speech check. Then during the ending Lanius is proclaimed Caesar and rewards you instead of old Caesar.

Almost everyone in the game agrees that the Legion would tear itself apart once Caesar kicks the bucket, and most figure it'd take place within 20 years.

I thought they specified that his accent was fake, but I don't seem to be able to find where they said that so maybe I'm just crazy. And even then it doesn't explain James' Northern Irish accent or Dukov's Russian one.

Yeah, but there's people like that lady in Arefu who seems to have had a breakdown and thinks the world is still in the 1950's, which given the limited access to prewar stuff the average settler in the DC wasteland has, it doesn't make any sense.

The way radiation works in the game is almost entirely divorced from how radiation works irl, I mean come on, giant ants a la "Them"?

I figure the accents could occur if you hang around people that talk a certain way. In a pretty isolated setting your speech patterns will develop based on those around you. So Dukov and Moriarty could have been raised by people who had accents who had accents that were raised by people that spoke the other languages first and then spoke English. But a lot of things have to be taken with a grain of salt to begin with, Fallout never was a 100% solid setting. I don't get where ghouls immortality or long life spans comes from I know they are healed by radiation but at the same time they are literally rotting to pieces. Either way Ghouls are cool and Raul is the coolest.

True to that, Raul is best ghoul, better than "Dirtnap" Set and better than Harold since Harold isn't really a ghoul but a rather unique mutant.

Also gotta share this, one of my favorite NPC's from Fallout 2.

Gotta love someone trolling COD players using a Dornan soundboard.

Well, James is voiced by Liam Neeson so really, his accent could of slipped or something. As for Dukov, maybe he sailed to America somehow from Russia or perhaps he's really just trying to put up a Russian accent.

Isn't it possible that they could've picked up accents from pre-war audio and video tapes? I'm pretty sure that's how the Kings got their look and mannerisms.

Absolutely. Televisions do work in the wasteland because there's a porn industry in New Reno, and I wouldn't be surprised if the vaults stocked a nice movie collection to wait out the apocalypse with.

Also, it's not like Americans just went into the vault. There could have been wealthy immigrant in the vault and their kids maintained their parent's accents.

That hadn't even occurred to me but that makes a lot of sense. It would also explain why English is still such a dominant language even though there are so many tribals in the world. James watched a bunch of Liam Neeson video tapes as a kid and tried to emulate him. Perhaps the PC has an accent from growing up with James.

Regarding that, wouldn't it all be done on holo-tapes? Surely they'd need something to play the tapes. As for immigrants going into the vault's, one of the pre-made characters for the first Fallout was basically the child of an ambassador from the Soviet Union. Then there is Vault 15, one of whom would have Aradesh, the founder of the New California Republic.

As far as I remember, The King has the accent at least compared to the generic members. He did say they got it off the holo-tapes along with the hair gel they found in the building.

James really liked Taken. Liam Neesons is the man.
I see Fallout 3 as being Fallout 2.5, with New Vegas being the modern iteration of Van Buren, aka the unfinished Fallout 3. Not that Fallout 3 wasn't good, but it was really more a prototype. New Vegas is a lot closer to the original setting, with a slight move east.
Plus we found out what happened to Marcus and Cassidy.

Yes to that. Wish the same could be said for Sulik though. Hopefully his bones are in the nose of another great tribal warrior.
We and I wondered about that too. I really liked the Great Khans and Crimson Caravan returning though.
Oddly enough, I enjoyed the F3 DLC more than the New Vegas DLC. Probably personal quirk.

tfw wished they would've mentioned Lenny, Goris and K-9

They're very similar in terms of concept but they have separate wiki entries, and to my knowledge there's no evidence one way or the other that they're the same character.
K-9 can be recruited from Navarro. Rex on the other hand is recruited from NCR. As for speaking to them, I think don't know if Rex is like K-9 in having dialogue with the player consist of words and not barks.

Thinking about playing through the Ultimate Edition and siding with the NCR this time? Is it worthwhile? How about the Legion with good karma?
