Fallout series

So this happened with a weather mod earlier...
This would ask one if an emission from the Zone has reached the Commonwealth. All thats needed are bandits and Cheeki Breeki.

Probably late to post a spergy personal impression of Fallout 4, but whatevs.
I started playing Fallout 4 with the intention of rp'ing a bad guy for the first playthrough, under the delusion that there would be some sort of narrative path allowing for that choice, as in every other Fallout game (and the optimistic assumption I would go through it again). The roleplaying aspect is almost completely absent though. I stopped after a few hours, having reached the stadium city and doing a few quests there. After being forced to rescue and babysit the Minutemen I could tell how this game was going to be shaping up, and every subsequent review I've seen about it confirmed my suspicions. It's a meh very average shooter and a pisspoor roleplaying game. The one saving grace is the exploration sandbox aspect I suppose, but even then you will usually just find another setpiece combat area filled with automatically hostile enemies, seldom any interesting characters or stories. The world building is done mostly through terminals and architecture. It didn't seem like a "believable" world, even within the fictional logic of the Fallout universe. Bethesda are terrible at creating immersive worlds. Environments, landscape, architecture, all fantastic, but put them all together with the terrible narrative and densely clustered zero logic arrangement of locations and it just feels flat.

The real fun is the settlement building aspect if you want to wring mass enjoyment out of the game IMO. Get a ton of mods that let you build almost anything and damn near anywhere (and rip down and rearrange what is there), and it's basically a Sims game through a Fallout lens.

So I beat New Vegas for a third time, this time siding with NCR.

Even though Ulysses is a flawed character, mowing down Marked Men with him is a pretty hype moment. The final battle on Hoover Dam is cool but even with Jsawyer barely anything can touch you.

Now I'm really tempted to give DUST a go.

DUST is amazing. I heard the author is working on a similar mod but for Fallout 4 called FROST, which from the look of it will be taking place in a nuclear winter. It sort of has a Metro 2033 surface feel to it.

Dude I remember when I played DUST for New Vegas it's one of the best mods someone has ever made for a videogame.

Shit, I hope he ends up making a console port to keep the kiddies in check. If not then I guess someone's going to have the bright idea of stealing it and uploading it to Bethesda's modding platform, only for it to gloriously backfire and crash consoles. Hopefully he'll take it better than l0rdofwar did.

I don't understand why modding for consoles is a thing now, sorry but if you can't even log, use TES5Edit or LOOT and stuff like that is just going to make them a crash fest, unless you know what you are doing (and honestly I doubt console gamers know how modding on the radiant engine works)

Question: Which has the worse Fallout fans, NMA or 4chan?

NMA because they are obsessed with preservation when in reality the old Fallout's got tedious after a while. I can't stand waiting for my character to appear on screen when I move long distances. I think the first two games are fun but they don't age well. Story, atmosphere, setting, all work out just fine. Gameplay? Aged like cheap processed bread.

I liked fallout 4. There was some changes I didn't like and some I really did. It was a good game overall.
If they don't take chances you get stuck with the same damn game every time. I like the perk system and love settlements and weapon crafting. The dialogue system needs to go away though, and bring back karma.
ALSO, NUKAWORLD TRAILER BOYS

Bring back the old perk system, remove the voiced protag and bring back the old dialogue system and you improve the game significantly. Reputation with the four main factions, plus places like Goodneighbor and Diamond City would be neat. Wouldn't mind a Power Armor expansion DLC, preferably one that makes the Jetpack worth it. And traits, no clue why they removed those, even with the new perk system.
