Fallout series

A few years ago I would have complained about Bethesda not being able to plot their way out of a paper bag, but these days we're inundated with so many games where the plot iself is the main draw I can withstand just some dumb fun like Fallout 3 offered.

It's Bethesda. Bugs are everywhere. Stories are okay at best. About the map size, Skyrim only took so bloody long to travel across due to the mountains and shit blocking you from your destination. They did say that Fallout 4 would be more of a vertical-based map with buildings, so they decided to cut down on the filler.

Hey, before you all get negative, can we just play the game first before ranting on how awful it is? Sure, it might not be perfect, but it won't be the worst game ever made.

Some guy on /v/with an advance copy did an ama and basically said the game was pretty awesome and a lot of the complaints are unfounded. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Dude, calm down. All I'm saying is that it's been 7 years, and it doesn't show from what I've seen. There's a lot of leaked footage from the game on 8chan's /v/, the Shekelcaust really short stream, and the hatenewspaper stream, which combine for about 10 or so hours of gameplay. Saying the game isn't out yet doesn't justify all of that - no one need to play the game to see how bad it really is. If you wanna think that what I say is probably not gonna be in the game in the next 4 or so days, then hey, that's cool. But I'm not optimistic about this at all at this point, and that's because I've seen this with my own eyes.

Don't worry. I'm still entering the game with tempered expectations. I just don't expect it to be the Witcher 3 in terms of story or writing, but then again, Witcher 3 wasn't perfect ( Loot wasn't rewarding enough, gameplay got boring and lacked variety unless at the highest difficulty).

With your characters being voiced, does it take away from the overall feel of previous games?

Yes in my opinion, but only because Bethesda doesn't have the ability to write good dialogue or get a good performance out of voice actors, and when they do, it's rare.

Eh the voice acting is decent, according to me. Not W3 levels, but the 4 years of voice recording did pay off. The writing did sour the VA quite a bit though.
 
I'm assuming the mods will have no voiced protagonist which is going to be very awkward.

Linda Carter, who is famous for her role as Wonder Woman is singing a bunch of songs on the soundtrack and voices a prominent character. I'm sure she was picked for the role because of her great talent and it had nothing at all with her being married to a Zenimax executive.

Someone who got an advance copy said you can turn the PC voices off if they bother you.
