Fallout series

Radical. Hope they stick the landing on it. Hope Cascadia is doing well.
I forgot to mention that if you have Fallout 4 installed, there is a prequel of sorts already released
It's a short quest that adds a couple of new weapons and a few pieces of armor to the game, but it does a good job introducing you to factions and NPCs you will meet in the final mod. Better than nothing, but no "Point Lookout" that Capital Wasteland Project released a while back.

Edit: If you're only planning to play London for gear and weapons, there is plenty of stand-alone releases on their page right now, with the newest set of armor released today
I used the Bren mod and I can say that it is a very high quality weapon mod, which makes me hopeful for the main mod

Just finished a playthrough of New Vegas, first one in probably 7-8 years and the only time I played in Hardcore Mode. I think I like the game even more now. Used the Viva Vegas mod pack and a few other mods. I went with the NCR this time as it was the only faction I hadn't done. I kind of had a busted playthrough at the end as I did the DLC after the main quest and I did them in the wrong order (did Lonesome Road first and ended on Dead Money). I don't recommend that as every DLC seemed to reference my upcoming confrontation at hoover dam and with Ulysses which I had already done.

I also finally figured out caravan and got that dammed achievement for winning it 30 times. Key is to make a deck consisting of 7s, 9s, and 10s with a couple jokers and kings. Goal is to hit 21-26 points per stack and you can go up or down. 7+9+10 = 26 and as soon as all 3 stacks hit that range you win basically. The Joker removes cards from the stack and the King doubles the card value. You can play those cards on yourself or the opponent to screw them over. Keep you deck near the minimum of 30 cards as well which keeps games fast. Could have been a more interesting game, but it looks like it didn't get a good treatment in the rush to finish the rest of the game.

Of all Bethesda games, I think Fallout NV is the most deserving of a remake in a modern engine that doesn't crash and has all the factions fully fleshed out.

Is fallout 4 worth getting ~$10 for everything on steam? I tried playing it several years ago and just gave up as I didn't like it much.

With Fallout 4 what you see is what you get more or less. If you didn't latch onto either the world space, gunplay, or settlement building before I doubt there'll be much in it for you in terms of writing or factions. I'd still grab it while the price is down though to play through Far Harbor, where Fallout 4's writing peaks, and in case any big mod projects like Fallout Miami or Fallout London are good.

I feel like every so often I find a new feature or quirk about New Vegas I didn't know before. Now I've always been somewhat aware of the stomp special attack, but haven't really used it much before because it requires you to knock out someone with fatigue damage first. However I just remembered that the Compliance Regulator effectively does the same thing. So I've just been playing around by combining the two together.

By hotkeying the CR and ballistic fist to quickly switch between the two I can stun a deathclaw and then use stomp to eat away large portions of it's HP. The damage done by stomp is calculated based on the unarmed weapon you have equipped, so the ballistic fist does the most. Also it's funny to watch the shotgun effect come out of your player's foot when executing it.

Decided to get FO4.
Went to Nexus mods and saw this mod just added for new vegas. Just why:

Through some act of social piracy I don't understand, troons have adopted New Vegas as one of their flagship games. It's got some openly gay characters in it, and some perks that let you play as gay (or bi, if you take both of them), but troonery is, as far as I can tell, virtually nonexistent. Who knows.

Is all because of the interpretations you can give with the endings.
"Oh yes, i support the NCR because they openly have gay fucks and lesbo bimbous or whatever".
"Oh yes, i hate the Legion because they're all rapists" (i'm sure even a Legion Recruit prefers to kill a troon rather than fuck it).
"Oh yes, i hate Mr. House for being a old fuck" (he's just pragmatic for god's sake, if it reminds you of your boss, you're fucked up).
"Oh yes, i love Yes Man 'cus he lets me do anything in New Vegas" (Independent Ending is my favorite but only because of the possibilities; between being nothing or anything),
And more.

Can you even wear opposite gender clothing in the game? You can in 4, but so far as I know that's nonexistent in 3 or NV, barring the occasional woman's hat. Even Vera Keyes's outfit turns into a tuxedo on a man.

Nope.
Troons always coping. Remember that.

Both sexuality perks sucks a lot. Just pick Purifier and Entomologist.

Personally I try not to over think it too much. Most troons are male nerds so it's sort of logical that they would gravitate toward games. Why NV specifically though?

The factors I imagine for this are as follows:
  • New Vegas was a mainstream AAA game at some point following FO3 so a large amount of people played it
  • It was somewhat above average quality relatively for a game of it's generation
  • Troons always try to find some defining factor between each other (there isn't besides the fact they're just horny nerds)
I think the time it came out also has a factor as well because a lot of them are probably in their mid 20s or early 30s so it's likely they have fond memories playing it in high school during their formative years (and continue to replay it to this day because of it's open ended gameplay).

While technically not a troon, Lily is pretty close to how most of them look, sound, and has a similar level of mental well-being.

The difference is Lily is endearing.

Ignoring established lore, this is "Philly" which is in the remains of LA.

LA is Boneyard.

Fans of the games should know that everything in the series is officially part of Fallout lore, and Bethesda was careful to make sure the scripts could coexist with previous storylines from the gaming titles. “We view what’s happening in the show as canon,” says Howard. “That’s what’s great, when someone else looks at your work and then translates it in some fashion.” He admits to being envious of some of the TV show’s interpretations and additions: “I sort of looked at it like, ‘Ah, why didn’t we do that?’”

Then there is Fallout’s wild card, its third lead figure—the sinister bounty hunter known as The Ghoul (played by Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight’s Walton Goggins). The Ghoul is a gruesomely scarred roughrider who has a code of honor, but also a ruthless streak. He is the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly all rolled into one. He’s also quite a survivor—having existed for hundreds of years. The show occasionally flashes back to the human being he once was, a father and husband named Cooper Howard, before the nuclear holocaust turned the world into a cinder and transformed him into an undead, noseless sharp-shooting fiend.
I am watching this for Goggins performance. Hes basically a ghoul already so it should come natural.

Not a huge fan of the makeup though, doesnt look ghoulish enough.

Blacks AND women!? How surprising!

Eh, it could work here, it's about a postnuclear society that was already multiethnic before the bomb. There's little needed in the way of contrived justification (or, as with Rings of Power, brazen lack of concern for established continuity). Your cynicism is probably correct in that we're never going to see non-White pieces of human excrement like Eulogy Jones or First Citizen Lynette.

More concerning to me is that all the aesthetics -- the Prydwen, the assault rifle, the power armor, and that very unimpressive ghoul makeup -- come from Fallout 4 era. I guess that's not surprising given it and 76 are where the games are now, but it's also not terribly inspiring.

"The games are about the culture of division and haves and have-nots that, unfortunately, have only gotten more and more acute in this country and around the world over the last decades,” Nolan tells Vanity Fair for this exclusive first look.
"In the Fallout universe, the human beings fortunate enough to ride out the apocalypse in underground communities only had that option available to them because they had money. Forcing doe-eyed Lucy out into this sadistic, Darwinian remnant of civilization opens the door for Fallout to engage in some social satire as well as action and adventure".

you motherfucking coomie! fallout is about human nature. not whatever gay globohomo gibberish you talking about! remember this line!?

"war. war never changes."

its about us monkey brained humans, no matter how shity everything gets, we always find an excuse to kill eachother!

sure, there is also the matter of exploring the ethics of post nuclear war America, dwelling for a past no one currently alive has ever lived. dose Old World Blues ring any bells?

I really wish I'd read the article before posting my sunny view of how the casting could work. Urgh.

Did they forget that most of the Vault dwellers were unwitting test subjects in vile experiments? Or is that not being explored in the show?
