So while reminiscing about New Vegas I looked at the Wikipedia page and the current head Wiki idiot(s) have given the most absurd intentional diss on New Vegas, declaring it a "Spinoff." Their citations for this are 3 articles from Polygon, RockPaperShitgun, and ArsTechnica.

The hateboner for New Vegas is just getting absurd. How could Fallout New Vegas not be considered part of the main franchise when it runs on the design of Fallout 3 and heavily references the two original games? Everyone's known it for ages New Vegas lifted many of the story concepts that were dreamt up for Van Buren the OG Fallout 3. BTW I never saw this concept art of the Legion using car chariots.

It's so stupid I absolutely love it!
who cares

I think New Vegas gets the distinction of Spin Off since it isn't a numbered entry in the series and it was developed by a Different Studio from the Main series. I highly doubt it has anything to do with a "Hateboner" towards New Vegas, the most Popular and highly rated Entry in the series, and its just because Wikipedia editors are anal about small factoids and being technically correct.

You have a point but I'll still argue the Hateboner is very much real.

This doesn't make any sense. The only reason New Vegas isn't Fallout 4 is because it doesn't represent any graphical leap. By this logic Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker isn't a sequel. Grand Theft Auto Vice City and San Andreas would also not be considered sequels when they were most certainly sequels.

Yes because 76 contributed more to the story than NV did.

do you think bathesda will someday reward them with bobbleheads and keychains if they appease the executives enough?

also stalker sucks and is overrated
X-Ray Engine is still more robust and stable than your Bethesdaslop. I experienced random crashes in patched up FNV but I don't recall getting random crashes in Shadow of Chernobyl or Call of Pripyat. Not to mention OpenXRay. Has Bethesdshit ever shared the source code for their engines for people to patch it up? Fuck no.

And their engine is a heavily modified existing engine, GSC wrote theirs from scratch. You hate STALKER because you're seething that a bunch of drunk Ukrainians did a better job than Western studios with a shitton of money.

Slav, please. Don't try to create a debate in this thread and the hazbin hotel thread too...
Oh right, you made one of the most amusing comparasions i've seen for a long time.

The only ones worth using are EDE, Rex, and based Russel if you have his mod.
Nah, Boone is the best one:
-simple but cool design
-cool backstory
-strongest companion of them all, can carry you trough the entire game alone
-him always opening fire at Legion actually fits the narrative and influences gameplay (compare it to Fallout 4 when you can bring Strong or Hancock to Brotherhood's blimp and nobody bats an eye)
-gives you the best piece of headgear in the game
-doesn't speak much, but when he does its mostly to give you advice
-all his endings are bittersweet and interesting
I'll take him over modern "I'll spout dumb one-liners every 20 seconds, lol I'm so quirky" RPG followers any time.
Piper is an annoying selfish cunt who can't stay out of other people's business.
When I first met her I hated her guts, but later when I actually had her stick around I was surprised by how much more pleasant she seems to be. Almost as if somebody said "Todd wants one more companion, quick, make that bitch Piper more likeable" 2 weeks before release (I think her voice actress did a really good job too).
MacCready is also extremely selfish on top of abandoning his own sick son so he could be a glorified raider on a payroll.
He's so soy one wonders how he survived for more than 2 days as a man killing others for a living.
The only good thing about the show is I can shit on ncr cucks by reminding them that ncr Has been destoried while Cesaers legion is still around. For now anyways.
My prediction is that they will either have single small mention of Legion collapsing, or not mention them at all - can't have niggercattle be triggered by an actually evil faction.
It's partly Amazon's fault. Yes, I know Todd Howard is the show's executive producer, but remember that one of the showrunners only has credits for the recent Tomb Raider and Captain Marvel movies. From going through social media, the "human beings" on them will just call you Captain Buzz Kill or a New Vegas Eitist for just having bad vibes about the plot.
Amazon wrote that slop and Todd approved of everything, they are equal to blame.

This is one of the most immersive aspects of the game. That he will not only kill Legion members on site. But he will warn the Courier when they are going into Legion territory and that if they want to proceed without violence they need to send him back to Novac or the Lucky 38. Because diplomacy will not be an option once he starts opening fire on everything.

I will always be salty that fallout 76 got way more weapons (and cooler ones at that) than fallout 4
It's really sad to say I've enjoyed my time in 76 more than I have in 4. Appalachia is so much more fun to explore and discover things than the Commonwealth, we get far more cool weapons, armor, and power armor to use, no more voiced protagonists, dialogue more akin to 3/NV, and it's got a good amount of some really nice minor quality of life changes I think 4 is in desperate need of (pressing and holding, quick boy pip-boy view, global storage boxes, contextual ammo looting).

That being said, the main story still sucks and it still suffers from having to use some of 4's atrocious aesthetics and art style.

If you're allied with the Legion, Boone will still be fooled by you if you're wearing NCR armor. What's funny is, the moment you take off the uniform and talk with him, he's like, "I knew it! You're one of them!"

I genuinely gave 76 a try but the slow progression, the grinding, the fomo kills it for me.
Plus I like bethesda games for being able to control the game via the console/mods and 76 as a multiplayer title precludes that.

im just waiting for the fo4 update to hit so I can wait further for f4se to update and wait some more for the mod authors to fix the few things I use that require f4se.
the only thing even interesting in this next gen update is the enclave "quest" and the fact there will be some new weapons

Yup. I also like Arcade. He's a bit of a bitchy fag, but he helps heal you, packs a fucking plasma defender as his default companion weapon with infinite ammo, and somehow picked up PA training while on the run as a kid. Oh, and he knows a bunch of oldfags who still know how to fight and hands you a kickass suit of armor. Yes, he's a naive do-gooder, but a smart Courier can turn some of his own logic against him. You can blow away a fellow Follower during The White Wash right in front of him and then persuade Arcade it was for the greater good.
"Not all sacrifices are made by the willing. When it comes right down to it that was the same choice Anderson was willing to make. But where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"

You can also snag Boone, toss on Legion armor afterwards, and he won't fire even when you both stroll into Cottonwood Cove.

Faction armor is one of the more hilarious broken aspects of New Vegas. It's also prone to all sorts of weird issues. There are a lot more faction armor types than most would think as well. Boomers, NCR, Legion, Brotherood, Fiends, White Glove Society, Khans, and Powder Gangers. There are some very specific actions and quests that the faction armors can interact with.

There used to be an entire article about how faction clothing affected the game in New Vegas that was deleted from the Fallout fandom without explanation. Someone has been going through the New Vegas wikis and deleting a lot of the strategy or guide aspects and basically dumbing down the wikis into just basic stats and game values like health/DT/armor.

what do you guys think is the prettiest fallout game
fallout 4 is a piece of shit in every other aspect but i liked a lot of the environments i saw when they weren't underground mazes
