Fallout series

I just realized something about this show. Think about it. They nuke the NCR, retcon shit tons of things, turn the West Brotherhood into a copy of the East Brotherhood, and the fact this was advertised as the "series made by Todd Howard" This show was made to erase everything that Interplay/Black Isles/Obsidian built so they can claim it as their own. All the longtime fans or fans of NV and classic Fallout will leave and a new wave of fans will come. Sure, some of them might pick up 1 and 2 but most will flock to 76 and 4 and the farthest they'll go back is 3 or NV. They want to do what Disney had done with Star Wars, get rid of the long-time fans who loved the originals and were invested in the lore and replace them with bugmen who'll clap at the sight of power armor or blue and yellow jumpsuits.
This has been pointed out multiple times. It’s obvious Todd Howard had a chip on his shoulder with Obsidian making a successful game, hence why in 2018 he announced that all future Fallout titles were going to be made in-house.

r/Fallout and r/FalloutNV had users that were pointing this out and the former deleted most of the posts and the former got nuked and a new subreddit was created which is now full of glowing reviews of the show. It’s amazing what these corporations will do to sell their slop.

by giving the Courier way too many backstory
I don't think it's so bad, especially with the options you can give. At the end of the day, all that's truly forced on the player is that their character visited this specific settlement a few times and unknowingly blew it up. Still room to interpret 99% of his life otherwise.

Hey, wanna see the sperg who made a video about the Confederacy comparing the NCR to Joe Biden?
It's always hilarious to see midwits tackle fallout politics.
Being judgemental towards slavery in a world that consists of primarily tribals and city states is just silly. Caesar isn't even bringing it back. Slavery was common in the wasteland far before there ever was a Legion. Caesar primarily just saw that the world was operating by Iron Age rules and sensibilities and decided bringing back the Iron Age juggernaut made the most sense.

I don't think House was ever intended to be a libertarian either. He's got the same ambition as Caesar or the NCR. He's just going about it differently. The NCR wants to bring back the time of pre great war nation states. Legion wants an Empire that can conquer the continent. House wants to bring back and surpass the pre war technology, with himself as autarch.

Finally knuckled down and finished New Vegas Bounties III for the first time in many years. I have to say, it bothered me less than it did that first time, maybe because I was more sympathetic to the story being told than I was the first time, and find the idea of a villain who well and truly beats you no matter what you do kind of an interesting idea, even if the execution is a bit shit.

The biggest flaw with the mod is simply that there is no good way to defend or explain yourself at all. The whole beginning, where Virgil, who is totally NOT Marko by the way and NO you can't see through this paper thin alias and just kill him right away, tries to show you the horrid consequences of your actions in the first two mods by showing you the fallout from killing who you killed then guilt tripping you over it.

Oh, yeah, I shouldn't stop murderers and rapists because they have families too. Boo hoo.

One option that lets you poke a hole in that argument that isn't written to characterize you as a sociopathic retard would be nice.

And if it was JUST Marko I could probably look past it since there is a very specific dynamic he's clearly going for here, but it happens all the time. Choosing to kill Glanton over saving the kids gets you REAMED by Randall but you can't just say "Hey, Glanton routinely butchers children. I sacrificed seven to save potentially hundreds down the line. He will literally never stop killing tribals, ever."

On a good note though, finding Brookshire in the NCR embassy and telling him "I'd kill you in front of the fucking president you piece of shit, I don't care where we are." Was immensely satisfying. More games should let you murder guys of that particular line of employment.

Anyways, still a good mod. I can't complain too much given the writing is still leagues better than most quest mods I've played.

There was a fan rewrite that got deleted. Have no idea why. It made Marko less of a guilt-tripping hypocrite and more of an actual foil to you. A lot more of his conversations are about how you both aren't normal and how civilizations, whether it be the NCR or the Legion, collapse because everyone will become too weak from being sheltered, so the current state of the wasteland is overall an improvement for people than a detriment in his view.

The final confrontation is a lot better too. Really wish it was voice-acted. His dialogue is ecstatic about you being alive. It proves his thoughts about you were true, and there is something that differentiates you from everyone else. You can also call him a delusional fucking maniac, which is more than what Someguy gave you.

What always bothered me is the fact that there's not more racism in the fallout new Vegas and fallout games if people think that's an extreme anti communist United States would tolerate Martin Luther King junior who is a known communist subversive for five seconds they got another thing coming the vault dwellers to just all be racially segregated you can have your anti communist extreme caricature cake and eat it too.
At least fallout one and two had somewhat coherent political undertones fallout 2 making fun of America eugenicist that was in place until the 1970s
Are you seriously complaining that Bethesda didn't force in weird uncomfortable racial issues into their games? Do you seriously want ham-fisted weird social justice shit in your fallout games?

I'm gonna be honest, I want to be a modder for any Fallout game. Like, in the writing part of it at least since programming is not my thing.

Seeing blunders like The Frontier, New California and the Fallout TV show inspired me, it made me think that there are some things in this universe that can be better by putting new stories made by people that while their mods could suck, at least there is a lot of effort and care put into it, made by people who love the product. I don't know if I can improve the game's world lorewise but I want to make an attempt on it just to see how it goes.

I mean, The Frontier set the bar very high on how bad a mod can be when you don't have any love for the franchise. And I want to contribute in something that at least does some good for the community.

I've finally worked out why New Vegas is so popular with redditors, they just lose attention after hearing they belong.
