Not really. The thing is, the Sorrows and the Dead Horses deserve to be left alone in their home. Joshua Graham lets them defend themselves and try to claim his home finally in Zion, they need to learn defend themselves and he's the best teacher they could have for this type of survival.
Also, considering the story of Randall Clark, the Survivalist and Father of the Caves, and the final message of leaving Zion to the children of the tribe. Defending Zion from the White Legs is just the right thing to do.
Daniel is a faggot, he unintentionally treats the Sorrows and Dead Horses like they're animals, even when he means no harm, talking about innocence and their kindred spirit is not gonna do shit when you have a tribe of savages and killers wanting to hunt them to please Caesar. Having them run away from Zion, one of the few safe-ish places in United States after the war, and go to who knows what horrible place awaiting them is just going to be the end of their tribe in the long run. Running away from them is not the solution, it only makes the tribe of savages stronger.

I remember being super confused when I first booted up Fallout 4.
I never expected it to be as good as New Vegas but I did kind of naturally assume it would be Fallout 3 just with better graphics. (which would have been fine)
Then I saw no skills, no proper perks, and a Bioware dialogue wheel.
Even the artstyle was inappropriately colorful and cartoony.
I remember taking a sip of my Red Bull and thinking "what the fuck is this?"

I feel like the story of Fallout 4 could have been the best in the series if done right. The horror of waking up in a literal nuclear nightmare version of the world you once knew as you search for your infant son could make for a really good game

I saw a script on No Mutants Allowed for a rewrite which had the Institute as a totalitarian government occupying the Commonwealth instead of hiding in a hole and using fear and paranoia to control the populace since no one knew who was human and who were the Institute's secret police.
I'm this version the BOS were a fractured resistance force nearly decimated and driven underground by the Institute's military might.
Cool idea, too creative for Bethesda though.

I've read that before. I think the Institute should still be an underground shadowy group, but people we actually talk to should sometimes be replaced by synths with small cues for us to suspect who we can even trust.
I think the whole Glowing Sea aspect should have been expanded on, with it taking up more of the map and being more fleshed out with ruins and stuff.
Keep the BoS as this outside force trying to muscle in, but make them a little more jaded from fighting the Enclave and maybe have some Enclave soldiers actually now part of the BoS

I have always felt like you could fix Fallout 4's narrative by simply making The Institute actually have good intentions that have gone off track to the extreme. Point Lookout basically already fixed them via Dima. The central conflict between the settlers and The Children of Atom can be resolved peacefully by acting as a shadow agent and killing and replacing several people with synths.
Is it monstrous? Yes. Does it foster paranoia and anger? Yes. Is it ultimately the right thing to do? Maybe.
If you expanded that to The Commonwealth you'd actually have a pretty alright narrative. The Institute is rightly feared by the commoners because people disappear, get replaced, things happen almost out of the blue, but it is done to preserve humanity and foster a better world.
The central conflict of The Commonwealth should have revolved around The Minutemen/ The Commonwealth Provisional government dealing with a hostile faction like The Gunners, with an unpleasant stalemate between the groups threatening to spill out into all out war. The Institute is also present, trying to manipulate things behind the scenes for an outcome that avoids bloodshed, but also benefits themselves. Then you have your own personal narrative or whatever (though this should be cut, honestly.)
Instead we don't even really know what the fuck The Institute wants. They are evil, undoubtedly, but for no real reason. They aren't even competent as villains, everything they do seems to just be... Because.
You need to do a lot more than that to fix F4's story and it does basically require an entire rework of the game but that would be one of my big changes if you held a gun to my head and made me fix the game.

I just finished my main storyline playthrough of Fallout 3 and the epilogue shames you (You're not like your father!!) for sending in Fawkes instead of yourself despite him surviving. What kind of bullshit is that? I was supposed to kill myself instead of sending in a giant retarded radiation proof monster who did the exact same thing I would have done? What sense does that make? Bethesda writing is trash.

The funniest thing is, a lot of them were arguing that just because "some random worker" at Bethesda tweets something doesn't mean it's official. Absolutely nobody arguing about this seemed to be aware that Emil is the writer of these fucking games lmfao

You should have seen how people reacted in 2008. It was even worse when Fawkes refused to go in because it was your "destiny".
what's even worse, the new ending (broken steel dlc) still calls you a coward for not wanting to die. calling the person who actives the purifier the "real" hero. someone at Bethesda (Emil) must have really been butthurt.

The player surviving the game was added in Broken Steel as a response to everybody calling Emil a mongoloid even back then. For somebody who apparently doesn't care about the quality of his work, it's a line going consistently downward since Bloodmoon, he's remarkably thin-skinned.
