Fallout series

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
DM's problem isn't that it's hard, it's that it's tedious and cheap. Trying to navigate the Villa is tedious. Trying to kill damage sponge enemies that jump around in a game with dogshit aiming is tedious. Turning a character hostile because you had the audacity to pass a speech check on your introduction is cheap. Forcing the player to run through a section of cloud and filling it will bear traps is cheap.

All in all, it just isn't a fun challenge. I may not be the target demographic. When I heard a speaker beeping my reaction was "fucks sake" not "OHSHITOHSHITOHSHI-" like the developers, by their own admission, intended.
It becomes tolerable after a certain number of playthroughs.

I have shit upon a lot of NV fanboys for circlejerking over the writing, but now that I'm playing it again vanilla, I'm seeing how right they were.

The theme of "Begin again, but know when to let go" isn't just limited to Dead Money. It runs throughout the whole DLC and even the base game.
  • The NCR, like Biden's America, is a tired oligarchy with democratic trappings, feebly clinging to its waning possessions and credibility. It could be saved if it backed off and implemented some reforms, but won't out of pride and greed, which will be its ultimate undoing.
  • The Legion, like Putin's Russia or Xi's China, is betting on being able to rule in perpetuity through cult of personality, lying to its population of ignorant tribals, and brutalizing dissidents. That can only go on for so long, before people get tired of it.
  • Mr. House is clinging on to the shell of his beloved city's former self, and has kept himself alive unnaturally.
  • Boone cannot move on with his life after having to mercy-kill his wife and child, and is consumed with anger and grief from Bitter Springs.
  • Joshua Graham has successfully "begun again", by returning to God and repenting of his crimes as Legate. He cannot let go of his penchant for violence, so he has instead harnessed it to protect the innocent.
  • The Think Tank have become Daniel Larson levels of delusional, and cannot consider any other reality.
  • Ulysses can't let go of his obsession with the destruction of the Divide and his vengeance towards the Courier.
  • The Courier has a choice: get revenge on Benny, or forgive him, possibly even team up with him.
As obnoxious as its community is, New Vegas is my favorite game of all time for a reason. Every time I come back to it, I notice something I hadn't before. A subtle-but-masterful stroke of brilliance.

I can tolerate janky, broken gameplay for that.

I played as a techno-fetishist female Legion courier
Lol what? out of curiosity what was that characters reason for joining the legion?

Finished Old World Blues now, just missing Lonesome Road, but I'm gonna wrap up some of the faction quests before I play that. I agree that Dead Money felt tedious, the first time the collar beeped I did go "OHSHITSHITSHIT" but the 420th time it did my reaction was "FFS". Out if the three I've played I'd say its my least favorite, but it was still more enjoyable than the Amazon series.

Trying to kill damage sponge enemies that jump around in a game with dogshit aiming is tedious.
I never really had a problem with the Ghost People, crippling limbs felts them instantly. But those hologram security bots or whatever the fuck? FUCK THEM! Their level scaling is fucking ridiculous, I expect a Divide Deathclaw wrecking me in one hit if I do the DLC at a high level because a) it's the endgame DLC b) they're fucking DEATHCLAWS! A random fucking hologram annoyance has no fucking business destroying me in just 3-4 hits.

Turning a character hostile because you had the audacity to pass a speech check on your introduction is cheap.
This is the only one I can't forgive. I can tolerate the other bits, but this being the literal only speech check in the entire game and DLCs that has a negative impact is bullshit. How are players going to know off the bat that Dean Domino's ego is so fragile that a single not-so-nice remark would make him despise you irreversibly and want you dead no matter how nice you are to him afterward?

dean deserves to die, honestly
just use your bare fists through mod or the bear trap fist

you're not an unarmedlet, are you?

I don't know if anyone cares but if anyone was wanting ports from 76 for 4 someones made a drive with most of the unique things ported. Even the walk animations. And radio from other games.

The megapack one actually integrates alot of it into the game instead of just being there in the chemlab. Brotherhood wears the various armors and uses weapons like plasma gatling, traders will wear armor from 76, snallygasters spawn in mutant level lists etc.

It even adds the robot dogs f.e.t.c.h
Though I've only been able to find the rusty one in the robot disposal area. I can't find the pristine one.

According to xedit its supposedly only one space away from each other. Rusty is 14, 24, and normal f.e.t.c.h is 13,24, but I've searched the whole nearby area and just cannot find it.

Vertiguard armor is in the garage in Cambridge police station. And the rest you'll have to find on your own as that's all ive found/ cared about.

The c.a.m.p is added too but doesn't function. If you want one that actually works, you can get the 76 c.a.m.p mod that's on nexus and use creation kit to swap its model with this one. Although don't change the projectile one. It crashes for some reason when fucked with.

If you want the full 76 experience, get boston natural surroundings. That, 76 ui, and the mega pack, and you might aswell be playing singleplayer 76.

Although i will warn, some armors might not be included in the megapack file. I just installed it all and assumed it was in the megapack but if you can't find something you want, just install its standalone file and it'll work.

While we're discussing a game whose community's opinions are 99% dogshit, it has come to my attention that Dead Money is disliked. Why?
Cause the gameplay is shit. The companions are shit. The loot sans gold bars is shit and the level scaling makes it so if you play it past level 25 it get's much more difficult and in no fun ways.
Honest Hearts takes about 1 hour to finish as opposed to DMs 3-4. But HH has five times the enemy variety, tolerable companions and the same environmental story telling as DM.
Sure the story of the casino it's self is good but you can only really experience that once and in spite of everything else.

Nice. His other mods, Misandrist and Misogynist, got deleted as well, unfortunately. You wouldn't happen to have it, do you?
I feel like those mods are just a permanent debuff should be like -1 or maybe -2 CHR not -5

My biggest problem with it wasn't that. It was how easy it is to get lost and turned around. The low visibility makes it easy to miss items.

I can eat crow now that I've revisited it, and found another gripe:

I successfully pulled off that trick to getting all 37 gold bars without cheating by sneaking past Elijah around the electrical box. I should've been home free, but upon opening the door to the elevator, I was cucked by an invisible wall glitch.

That's the New Vegas we all know and love.

Nope, only saw the Racial Superiority one, altought it should be easy to archive the other ones if anyone has them since Mod Organiser 2 will have a function to create an "archive" of installed mods, including the nexus description (even if the nexus page went down)

Siding with NCR gets you A FUCKING BRANCH
Reminds me of this plebbit post.

Nexus troons hate the idea of imperfections in society that they can't immediately destroy. So when someone makes the option for the player to do that even more than they already can...well, it infuriates them. Trannies love nothing more than to tell people that "they'll play the game however they want" but when normal folk do that themselves they 180. Rules for thee and all that.

Finished my first Run of New Vegas, did the Lonesome Road and then the battle of Hoover Dam immediately after. I loved the game a lot, sure it has its flaws but overall it was enjoyable.
Went with Independent route since I had fucked up by killing Mr. House. didn't know refusing him the chip would cause him to instantly turn hostile I just didn't want to advance his quest at that point, sure I could have loaded an earlier save but in this kinds of games I rarely reload a save to change an outcome to my choices no matter how bad I always live with the consecuences, besides now I get to play the game again in the near future. The legion got pissed at me for doing some NCR quests, and I wasn't going to help the NCR because they're Californians, my character being a petty thief with high sneak and speech, really didn't felt like the kind of guy to go with the legion or really the NCR.

Since I have TTW installed next run I'll start from the Capital Wasteland and play all the way to New Vegas.

I think 3 is kinda designed to be played as a good karma character , and the side quest are the best part of that game

All criticisms of Dead Money come down to "I suck at the game, that means the game is hard/bad!"
There is no need to hate the DLC. You got filtered out, you aren't good at the game, it happens. There is very little actually wrong with the DLC, it's about as good as a content pack for a game like this can get. If you struggle the first time around, good, that's the point. If you struggle the second and third or more time around, then you're just not very good, you should have most of the DLC memorized by that point. It's not very long. It also gives you everything you need to survive, so there is no excuses. No, you aren't the orbiter on what makes a game "good" or not, you just suck at the game. 95% of game criticism by morons and nu-gamer these days is for games that are too hard for them, no other reason needed. Everyone knows when you're coping about it, years of gaming has taught most people to spot a bad one with surprising efficiency, it's very obvious. The game isn't even that mean by old CRPG standards, if you think this is bad, oh boy...

I was doing achievement runs in 2015 for both the console titles. I don't think I had a reason for that, I was just getting the quest related achievements out of the way and wanted to do an energy weapons run while I was at it. It was good for a laugh, I didn't do much roleplaying but it kinda just worked as I went along. By the end, my character became worshiped like a goddess, much like Ceasar and Lanius are considered blessed by the gods in their culture, the OWB halo helped too. There is a matriarchal cult that works with the Legion in Van Buren, "Daughters of Hecate" and the strategy guide in NV also says that women have their own duties back in Legion territory to brainwash the youth and get them ready for the Legionaire lifestyle. I like to think that character ended up running one of those high ranking little sects, while also acting as a high ranking soldier on the side.

Fallout London is (Probably) releasing tomorrow. And the GoG Page is live
