Fallout series

Everything, that was in the "included section" in the newest update for the Restoration mod on github, so HQ Music, Unofficial patch, NPC armor, Cassidy talking head (very nice addition, model and animations look wonderful and the guy doing the voice acting have this natural, weary cadence), Party orders (also usefull - adds hotkeys to companion comands, healing, for example or for picking up shit from the floor) High res patch, additional rifle and wakizashi animations, i left the Misterious Stranger and extended flamer ones since 1.I don't use them 2. extended animation can screw with faster combat sequences, didn't wanted to risk potential crashes). I also downloaded the lossless music and F02 Tweaks (lotsa QoL additions, but also cheats like unlimited inventory, the AP ammo rework is included here (hard to discuss this, as playing the game with Finesse from start makes shooting finicky - i had situations, where i one-tapped people in Metal/combat armor with one burst and there were times when 2 burst were doing no/minimal dmg). Lossless music is nice, if you have a good soundcard and speakers, preferably connected with a TOSLINK optical audio cable - files are in both .flac and .wav, i prefer the flac format, sounds more "clear" if i can call it that.
Thanks for this post. I've been playing Atom RPG and while fun....just made me want to play FO2 again after many years. I'll probably be copying this setup.

Much appreciated, wanted to play Fo2 again (last I played was...not too long ago but long enough) after finishing the UnderRail DLCs. Thanks!
I've been playing Atom RPG
I really want to play that for a while now, I have a totally legit copy I haven't unpacked yet.
Wasteland 3
Personally I couldn't get into it either, not sure why. I really liked the intro but I just...fell off. I did exploit the game (forgot how) and got the secret ending.
Another Milennia and its add-on have to be my current fav gun pack, with Tactapack coming in a close second.
Huh, how have I not heard of these. Seriously I know I don't check for new mods often on NV but Jesus.
I remember mentioning this a while ago, good balance between classic PA and nu-PA. One handing certain weapons that usually use two weapons is just great to see in third person.
Xilandro is definitely an ass probably 90% of the time, but he does make good shit. His leaning mod is also great, and the best part is they're both esp-less.
I will always respect Xilandro as a modder, but much like most modders, never as a person.

I've noticed the modding community is full of Lolcow types, as someone who used to make amateur mods for Battlefront 2 (Yes, the EA one.) I've literally been blocked by multiple mod authors for seemingly no reason. Genuinely I don't remember saying anything particularly rude or mean in their comments yet I find I'm blocked after leaving any kind of comment.
I even sent one a DM asking politely why I was blocked and they never replied.

Is there a general modding community thread here? If not there should be, there's so many people you could talk about.

I really need to figure out how to make it work with PAVE since PAVE has much higher quality models and textures, even if they lack the stompy goodness of TotNW.
There’s a patch for TotNW at the bottom of the PAVE page, it worked fine for me when I recently installed it.

Nuevo Mexico youtube page has recently allowed one video of theirs to be seen publicly(still unlisted when you search for it)
The other 5 videos in their playlist are all private as of this time, maybe they will make a big show of un-privating them one by one to announce their return.
Still no actual news as to what happened or if the project is still officially coming out, speculations are that a higher-up tranny ruined it for everyone and took the ball home when someone failed to entertain his fancy as much as he wanted to. Hopefully, the mod is still being worked on, it does look pretty good and I love the Van Buren references. The opening shot of the Tibbets prisoners leaving for the desert early on gives me New California vibes, I could easily see this mod succeeding where NC failed.

The footages makes it feel like half way between NC and the Frontier. With the voice acting definitely on the frontier side. I have no hope because FNV modding scene is pure aids.

It's a very interesting concept that has potential to be a better spiritual successor to Van Buren than Beyond The Boulder Dome or the upcoming Fallout Yesterday. It should be noted that Revelation Blues is also trying to be a mainly Van Buren inspired project, altho that one is very new and it will be years before we get any sort of meaningful updates from them.
The project reminds me of Sonora in 3D, but unfortunately it does seem to have the same DNA that Frontier, London and New California have as well. Maybe the 3D projects are just cursed for some reason, considering that tranny drama that is going on behind the scenes it's best to expect the worst.
I have hopes because I like what I see: They seem to have done the Mexican setting justice, there is not one but two different backgrounds, much like in New California you have the Path of the Jock and the Path of the Nerd, and the faces have gotten a much needed upgrade to not look like potatoes anymore. While I'm not an expert, they seem to have portrayed Mexico better than London did with the UK.
whats up with these pretentious moders faggots.
just show the dogshit mod, you arent bethesda or obsidian
There were a whole series of videos, but they all seem to have been taken down, that includes the earlier version of the mod that didn't seem to have anything to do with Van Buren. Nobody knows why, this is why it's best to archive these videos now while you can.

Here is something fun I just found out: There is NO way to get your eyes fixed if they're crippled in Fallout 2, other than using the Doctor skill remotely to heal them. All other limbs can be healed via doctors(even if some of them have glitchy scripts), if you're blinded and you have a low Doctor skill? Good luck. Thankfully, it didn't take me that long, only a few tries. I think this is the first and only instance this franchise had this feature, I don't recall OG Fallout having this issue and the wiki says that the Vault 13 doctor can heal your eyes(I'm pretty sure he can heal everything for free with his services only costing precious time, as a means for low level characters to not get softlocked when they run out of stimpacks). I wonder what the thought process was, it would be more fitting if having crippled eyes meant a permanent debuff that could maybe be partially fixed via bionic eyes(you can already get implants in the game and auto docs existed even back then).

Anyways, I am saddened to say that as much as I tried, I couldn't get Miria to work as a proper companion. Even with a really good armor set and a Mega Power Fist, her low Unarmed stat means she can sometimes get a few lucky punches(usually misses or even critical misses that can even cripple her own limbs) at best. Low health means that she will flee after only a few hits regardless in the later parts of the game when the stronger critters and better armed opponents show up. Keeping her alive is pretty much impossible except as a challenge run, as not being able to dismiss her leads to you having to fight your way thru Navarro and Oil Rig if you keep her alive for this long. She died unceremoniously to a random Fire Gecko encounter, which while saddening means I could infiltrate Navarro without raising any alarms. Sad, but what can you do, I guess the devs didn't have much else for her in mind other than being a gimmick forced companion that you can pimp out or sell into slavery. Luckily, the Restoration Patch does add another female companion into the game so that my posse isn't a sausage party, so not all is lost.

maybe im the asshole but im fucking over the entire fallout aesthetic. read another book, play another game
Personally the reason I'm over it is because there's barely any deviation, it's all just starting to blend together because Bethesda is not creative enough to be able to make something interesting, so they just pander and jingle jangle "member berries" in your face. "'Member Protectrons? 'Member Deathclaws? 'Member Power Armor?" Even the coolest shit just gets boring if used constantly.

I completely agree. Fallout 3 was basically just Fallout 1 and 2 mashed up, I liked the new location though since obviously all previous games were in the west in the desert and shit so seeing something on the east side of the country was neat.
Then they did it again with 4 and 4's plot was literally just 3 but backwards, now you're the dad looking for their son instead of the son looking for their dad. Like, what? Did they think it would be clever or poetic or something???

But I could probably have excused all of that if the writing was at least decent, it still perplexes me how they don't figure out to just copy New Vegas or something. Why did anyone on the team think they wanted the protagonist to be voiced and have a completely pre-determined backstory? It's part of what people hated about Fallout 3 but 4 cranked it up to 11. At least Fallout 3 gave you SOME choices on how you wanted your Wanderer to be like, but 4 right off the bat you're forced into being a former veteran who has a wife and kid. Most of the dialogue options are all the same thing, ect, ect.
It's like they're forgetting this shit is an action RPG. Where the fuck is the roleplaying? It's part of why New Vegas was so genius, it was just enough to create a story but still vague enough that you could be about anyone you wanted to be and it could make sense.

Basically, my two biggest issues with Bethesda Fallout is they keep skimping on the roleplaying aspect and whoever it is that writes their dialogue and story is a retard or something.
I think that's the worst part of it, it's not that their ideas were bad per say. Fallout 3 and or 4 could've been great with some tweaks but they weren't.

Even more jarring is that you can play as said wife and somehow be able to pilot Power Armor properly, have impeccable aim (if the person controlling the player isn't a sperg), and is able to use any weapon effectively (or at least properly) despite most definitely never even seeing half the weapons in the game. I can understand Nate (the fact they already have predetermined names is another issue) being able to use these weapons but Nora? She's a fucking lawyer. I don't care how many pointers he gives, she should not be as competent as any trained soldier. Would be better if they had stat bonuses and penalties (Nate being stronger with more agility, Nora being smarter and more charismatic, and if they kept fucking skills they could have bonuses in that too, such as guns for Nate, Bartering with Nora, obviously more skills but you get the point) but "muh sexism" probably would've put a wrench in that.

You will probably need external tools for it:

For me 4 felt like New Vegas only with lame factions and unappealing story.

Nora was originally going to be a veteran too but they changed it last minute, there are even voice lines in the game files confirming this.
Why they changed it? Fuck if I know, Bethesda, but it creates the issues you mentioned of how she's able to fight and pilot power armor off the bat for no real reason.
I mean, power armor training was already a retcon but it's even more annoying that they won't stick to their own retcon.

Meh, we can handwave that away, that's not even the most egregious example. In F2, you play as a tribal, so having any skill in Energy Weapons, Big Guns or even Small Guns makes no sense at all. How about F1 or any other game where your protag is a Vault Dweller, where they specialize in Survival/Outdoorsman with high END and PER? After spending your entire life indoors with barely any exercise, there is no way you could become a survivalist straight out of the vault when realistically you would probably just go blind from the sun.
Pre-made stories and voiced characters are pretty gay, but at least characters being far too capable at the start than they should be isn't anything new. Bethesda should have at least made two different intros for each character, but obviously they were too lazy for that. You don't even get a brand new intro for your own origin in Starfield, when games like Dragon Age: Origins and Cyberpunk 2077 did just that fine.

I heard of the new expanded patch, but I don't want anything to break my 2.3.3 release. I modded this one heavily on my own time, mostly with adding in new items and changing map layouts, last thing I want is for there to be incompatiblity issues and I'm too lazy to recreate my changes with the new patch.

Nora was originally going to be a veteran too but they changed it last minute, there are even voice lines in the game files confirming this.
I've never heard of this and I consider myself experienced on the topic of Fallout's cut content. Do you have a source?
