I hate to be "that guy" again, but No-bark has a shack behind the motel. It's an excellent source of empty soda bottles if you have the Nuka Chemist perk.Maybe that's the reason why he's homeless

Apparently he had to be cut because he had the most lines of any NPC and there was no more room on the disc. Honestly I think we dodged a bullet by not having to listen to endless pretentious BEAR BULL BEAR BULL monologues outside of one DLC where it’s already far too much.Ulysses was originally going to be a base game companion, acting as one of the few Legion sympathetic companions and being a walking faction soundboard, letting you know what's going on and what to expect from the current situation and advising you on what you should do(and of course, judging you every step of the way).
There's a number of normal buildings you go through and see, I dunno what you mean. Also there'd be no reason people couldn't hunker down in the military base buildings, they're right there for the usage. Also there’s literally no evidence of any recent settlement having been in the Divide, all you see is a destroyed pre-war military base. The Divide settlement might as well just been a figment of Ulysses’ imagination.
Post the mod on Nexus or something, would be funny to see people's reactions.Having listened enough to Ulysses' bullshit I decided to learn how to use GECK to be able to tell him to kill himself, felt more satisfying than putting a .50MG round in his head.View attachment 6316476
I've only "finished" this DLC once since I really just like the areas rather than Ulysses, holy shit I never noticed that. Was this rushed or something? I mean NV in its entirety was rushed but given some of the...odd choices in some of the other DLC it's hard to say if it was rushed or if the DLC writers or just Avellone are kinda fucking stupid. Probably mostly Avellone, this isn't the first time he tries to write a "wise" mouthpiece and just fails miserably because it only works on people less intelligent than he is...probably why I hear so much praise for his OCs.The worst part is that the game doesn't let you tell Ulysses who your faction of choice really is, the game just kinda decides that for you in a really stupid way. When you're locked in, all you can really do is go along with it and be a good little boy for whomever the game thinks you're working for, or have this awkward "This is a big misunderstanding" blunder every single time you speak to Ulysses. It makes the whole thing even less coherent unless the stars align and you really do work for the NCR or Legion or whatever(House and Yes Man characters are usually out of luck unless both factions hate you or you never helped them). It gets better, every single one of the dusters actually has a unique effect and they're all powerful, so if the game chooses wrong then you're not just missing out on a cool cosmetic, you might be missing out on one of the best items for your build.
I used it when I beat Lonesome Road for the first time, was buggy and more "bear bull" from what I remember but was funnily enough less grating. I guess the idea of him preaching like that while blowing someone's head off with a .50 cal or whacking them with Old Glory is appealing to me, even then I think even the mod author toned his "bear bull" nonsense down. There's a few different versions out there so your mileage may vary. The newest one is Ulysses Re-Utilized which was last updated a few months ago, seems to be the best of both of the other Ulysses mods so I'd pick that one.Haven't tried it yet, but Ulysses was originally going to be a base game companion, acting as one of the few Legion sympathetic companions and being a walking faction soundboard, letting you know what's going on and what to expect from the current situation and advising you on what you should do(and of course, judging you every step of the way). I wonder if he's anything like that in this mod or if he's back to ranting about the BULL AND THE BEAR anytime you encounter either faction.
kreia and ulysses are both people who look down on all sides for having faults while thinking the only solution is to destroy everything in the vain hopes something better will replace itHonestly he reminds me of Kreia from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, another Chris Avellone character hilariously enough.
On the first playthrough she might fool you into thinking she's this deep and wise character but on any subsequent playthrough where you're actually paying attention to the things she says and does you realize she's a complete fucking retard and it begins to annoy you every time she opens her fucking mouth at you.
Bravo, Avellone.![]()
Both characters are literally pretentious. Whether intentionally or not.kreia and ulysses are both people who look down on all sides for having faults while thinking the only solution is to destroy everything in the vain hopes something better will replace it
you know, instead of just what was already there coming back again, like it kind of did after a massive dark age and the literal apocalypse
We Happy Few also didn't have any niggers in it unlike in Fallout: London which somehow has perfect representation of 2024 London demographics rather than what a 1950s London would've looked like. Sure, WHF did have one hapa-pajeet woman in it but she sorta makes sense in context without going into spoilers. We Happy Few seems unironically more appealing than the very concept of Britbong Fallout.
It makes sense thematically to do Lonesome Road as close to the Battle for the Hoover Dam as possible. It should almost be impossible to get the radio message from The Divide until you are right at the final quest in the main story. I honestly can't think of any other way to play through that DLC other than it being the penultimate quest in your entire playthrough.I usually do Lonesome Road last at the end of every run.
Fallout is 1950s aesthetic not attitudes (it could be possible this aesthetic is only limited to the US as well), so it's likely Britain still had mass immigration in that timeline (plus the devs would get absolutely crucified being a high profile mod and having a homogeneous London). We Happy Few also didn't have any niggers in it unlike in Fallout: London which somehow has perfect representation of 2024 London demographics rather than what a 1950s London would've looked like. Most of the justification and the people pushing mass immigration were trying to undermine every country and were all communists they would not be tolerated whatsoever they would be crucified by four people who would eventually forget about itFallout is 1950s aesthetic not attitudes (it could be possible this aesthetic is only limited to the US as well), so it's likely Britain still had mass immigration in that timeline (plus the devs would get absolutely crucified being a high profile mod and having a homogeneous London(.
New California shows the settlement Ulysses was talking about in it's ending cutscene, but that's a fan project so I don't know how canon most people will see it as. There is no reason for him to lie about this, I just think he is an obsessive schizo that uses that as an excuse to have his little mental meltdown and blames you for it because you were there.Apparently he had to be cut because he had the most lines of any NPC and there was no more room on the disc. Honestly I think we dodged a bullet by not having to listen to endless pretentious BEAR BULL BEAR BULL monologues outside of one DLC where it’s already far too much.

Sonic Emitter-Tarantula always kills with a critical hit, so there is nothing stopping you from either sneaking up to him and one shotting him or killing him within seconds in normal combat. BTW this works on Rawr too, if you want to cheese him, as with every other NPC like the Tunneler Queen and various Marked Men bossesI usually do Lonesome Road last at the end of every run so by the time I reach Ulysses I can crit vaporize him in a single hit while he's ranting about nonsense, that's always fun.
I think that lies more with the devs not really knowing how to use the engine that well, even towards the end. This leads to some wonky solutions that veterans of the GECK would facepalm at, especially towards the beginning of the development when quite literally nobody on the team knew how to work with the engine. A veteran Oblivion modder joined the team at some point and that's when things actually got rolling, Triangle City has some good documentaries on that.I've only "finished" this DLC once since I really just like the areas rather than Ulysses, holy shit I never noticed that. I got to the part where you get inside St Paul's church and so far vast majority of NPCs are white. There is one pajeet in a turban and there is a few non-white NPCs from random encounters, but for the most part London is already looking whiter than DC or Boston. That said, the lore makes it clear that just like in our world, UK and Europe were infinitely shittier places than US, even before the war.We Happy Few also didn't have any niggers in it unlike in Fallout: London which somehow has perfect representation of 2024 London demographics rather than what a 1950s London would've looked like. Sure, WHF did have one hapa-pajeet woman in it but she sorta makes sense in context without going into spoilers.
tbf I think a lot of the problems the Bethesda games had would've been immediately fixed if Fallout 3, 4 and the TV Show (just retool the story a little, maybe have Shady Sands being damaged by a crappy dirty bomb instead of an actual nuke as a temporary set-back which halted NCR development and it's why they're in such a sorry state as of FNV rather than just killing them off outright) were all set around the time 76 was, aka being only set a few years after the end of the world. Literally 80% of scrutiny that real Fallout fans would have with those games would evaporate since they'd actually make sense in context.Even in Fallout 4, they drop the ball on that. Like that meme posted upthread, it doesn't look like a nuke hit Boston. Most of the city proper is still intact, and everything is still bright with a fresh coat of paint.
Another thing that bugs me: how do so many places still have electricity after 200 years of disuse, and a war that was fought over depleting resources? It makes sense in the Mojave with Hoover Dam and Helios One, but what about everywhere else?
And if it's all nuclear-powered, then why did we and China blow up the world? It flies in the face of the energy crisis backstory.
I get that it's a parody of American consumerism, corruption, and incompetence, but some things just seem so utterly retarded that they defy one's suspension of disbelief.
The only thing 76 and the show did right was have a setting closer in time to the Great War. It makes the trashpunk more plausible. The further away you get from that, the less it makes sense, as if after 200 years, the elements wouldn't take their toll and everyone who survived was just sitting around in rags with their thumbs up their asses.
I don't think I was ready to hear "a modder for a completely different game from Bethesda had to carry the development team of New Vegas simply because he knew how to use modding tools similar to their engine better."A veteran Oblivion modder joined the team at some point and that's when things actually got rolling, Triangle City has some good documentaries on that.
This is likely just a technical limitation since they would have to make a whole new race just for him otherwise. This is exactly what the mod where he becomes a companion does, if I recall correctlyOnly reason why I can think that they bothered was that they originally did plan to have his face be visible but then changed their minds later. Or maybe it's just a leftover from when he was meant to be a companion or something. Either way it is odd.
Ulysses doesn't have a point, he's just a schizo. Sure, officially he's supposed to be some sort of badass rival character of yours, or Avellone's own OC character that he uses as a mouthpiece
Another fun fact, he's also one of the few characters in the series to have 10 in every Special stat.probably why I hear so much praise for his OCs.
Which is why I love finding all of his logs and throwing his own words back at him to prove he learned nothing over the course of his travels.kreia and ulysses are both people who look down on all sides for having faults while thinking the only solution is to destroy everything in the vain hopes something better will replace it
you know, instead of just what was already there coming back again, like it kind of did after a massive dark age and the literal apocalypse
Yeah I noticed that, I think it was more so "we have to have the final boss be really strong but can't have him be high in only Strength and Endurance or else people will look at his stat line and make fun of him" or something. Realistically I think it would be...5-7 STR (Old Glory hits hard), 7-9 PER (he survived this long after all), 7-10 END (all the radiation, all the Marked Men and other shit), BearBull (1-4) CHA, 3-6 INT (he's a retarded schizo but he's decent at tech it seems, he also seems to think he's smarter than he thinks), 5-7 AGI (bet he had to climb and run around the divide), ? LCK (I really don't know, probably 10 since he managed not to get nuked or die from the upheaval following it).Another fun fact, he's also one of the few characters in the series to have 10 in every Special stat.
The only other 3 being the two optional boss characters from the same DLC and Frank Horrigan himself.
He really is Avellone's OC.![]()
