Didn't Todd specifically say that the show is canon? So unfortunately we don't really have "non-canon" as an out in this instance.
Wrong, actual fans of the franchise haven't given a shit about Todd's games for over a decade now, nearly two if you count the hardliners that don't even acknowledge Fallout 3 as canon. What Bethesda considers "canon" means nothing, by that logic Tactics isn't canon either even tho the events in that game and the Chicago/MidWestern Brotherhood are mentioned in 3 and 4, Todd's own games. They can't even follow their own headcanon, that includes what they established with Fallout 3 and 4 that was now retconned in the "canon" TV show as well, but you don't see tourist super-fans talking about that.

Only idiots and tourists consider the TV show canon in any capacity, and any arguments as such just out you as one or the other. The actual fans of the franchise will continue to ignore Todd, just like they have for countless years now, and focus on fan content or mods that are of infinitely higher value than the official products nowdays. He can declare himself a fairy princess too while he's at it and nobody will care.
It's better to think of Fallout as Halo, with the original games and New Vegas being the original Bungie Trilogy and everything after made by Bethesda as the 343i slop nobody liked. Most people who actually consider themselves fans of that franchise will never even consider 4/5/Infinite to be canon, only the original 3 games and maybe ODST/Reach exist. Hell, they even both have a shitty TV show that is universally hated by people who play the games and universally praised by those that don't

4 was fine. its a good epilogue to the story for me and I don't really care about the story past that. Haven't touched 5 but given its reputation and lack of accessibility maybe I shouldn't. Infinite just feels like remake of CE and maybe should've been billed as such. Would've given them a better place to start a new story. What really kills every single one of the 343 stories is their insistence on sequel bait that they never follow up on. Infinite could've been a fine ending to the series as a whole had they just shut up and retconned 5 and made Atriox the real villain instead of Monkey Boy #369 and saying "Atriox dies offscreen but actually he le lived and he's setting up an army for a game that will never happen"

Well, Fallout 3 doesn't get as much hate as Fallout 4 and later either, still there is considerable enough hate towards even 3 that I felt to mention that.

I think many people place a heightened level of responsibility on Todd Howard. Since about Fallout 4/Skyrim he has felt more like a face they can bring out to sell a game. He says some meme-y stuff and then goes away. I don’t think it’s him coming up with the bad ideas or programming the game to be bad.

Honestly he kind of feels like the Joe Biden of game development, his handlers do most of the actual work

I've made a simple mod for TTW: I call it "Toys 4 Tots"
What it does: After you finish The Pitt DLC, depending on your actions you get a repeatable collection quest from either Sandra or Midea. They ask for Teddy Bears, and each one you bring to them gives you 30 caps and 10 base XP(which means Well Rested bonus doesn't apply apparently). What I did was expand the amount of items she will accept for the same base payout, these items include:
*Toy Cars
*Nuka Trucks
*Dino Toys
*Buttercup Toys(Mothership Zeta)
*Gum Drops
*Fancy Lads Snack Cakes
Every item on the list gets converted into caps and XP immediately. This means that if you want to keep some of them, they need to be dropped on the floor before you talk about giving something for Marie.
Bug: If the game lets you hand over any items before you talk to the NPCs about the teddy bears, you will get no reward as the script gets confused and no base XP or cap reward is set until you get handed the note about the teddy bears. The items will still be removed from your inventory however, and in my game Midea was using the same dialogue lines as Sandra does if you try to kidnap the baby but give it back to her. To avoid this problem, drop all eligible items on the floor and talk to the NPC again. Once you get the note from them, exit conversation and pick up items from the floor and talk to the NPC about handing over items, script should now work.

This also. People just hate him because he's the most recognizable face. For that alone I have a little more respect for him. From what I know Todd just seems too nice to say no to being the fall guy.

It's hard to hate Todd. You can tell he tries to take criticism of his games into consideration, it's just that misinterprets the reasons for the criticism and makes a retarded design decision to "fix" things.

One of the biggest tragedies in Fallout 4 and beyond has been losing the art deco artstyle for over the top atomic punk. For all of its flaws walking around downtown DC in fallout 3 looked amazing.

Now it's all retarded overly smoothed shit.
I'll never understand why they switched from FO3's aesthetic. It's that perfect balance of sleek, clean art deco and that sort of worn-out gothic feel you get from the interplay games. I know the obvious answer is "to appeal to a wider audience" but Fallout 3 and NV weren't like these wildly unpopular or niche games. When EA was fucking over their own big ticket items back in the 2010s to appeal to a bigger audience I at least understood what they were trying to do. With Fallout 4 though... does Beth just really genuinely want to steal the Borderlands audience from Gearbox? They shouldn't, the Borderlands audience is gay!

The art designer who made Fallout 3 what it was died, that is literally it. Goes to show that, like with everything else, whatever good Bethesda produces is by accident, when they get a couple of talented people on board.

Adam Adamowicz.
Such a shame. He done a lot of the art concept of FO4.
Why ditch it? I'll never know.

Well, we can infer Bethesda wanted to move onto cartoony Borderlands style like it was already said. Shame, but at the same time, the game itself moved further into not-serious cartoon territory so it kind of fits. This is why not a lot of old time fans care that much about Fallout 4 and regularly mark it as non-canon, at least with Fallout 3 you could see it was a Fallout game at a first glance.

Here is a video made by a Youtuber going over how Bethesda is rewriting New Vegas for the Fallout TV series.

I expect more videos like this to appear the closer we get to the release of Season 2.
Oh good god what'd they do to the Tops :cryblood:
They LITERALLY just slapped the logo onto a Walmart and made it look a little old. This is worse than the E3 Strip downgrade.
oh god
i can't take more liberal modern sensibility fucking nonsense about the legion
His videos are pretty good, they usually contain zero to little politisperging even when talking about da nootzis.

Reminds me of this Fallout 3 mod port that makes DC have actual skyscrapers, I would download it but the only thing stopping me is judging from the screenshots the view around the Washington Monument/National Mall looks really bad, nothing like real life.

The best part? The reason why performance is so bad on The Strip was because there is so much water underneath the ground that you will never see. You have no idea how removing that water improves stability on the strip, so much so that it could likely run without a problem on the 360 without the gay metal gates(not holding out any hopes for the PS3 version however, we should just be lucky that version works at all).
This is what happens when you give a studio so little time to finish the game they don't even have time to learn all the inner workings of your shitty outdated engine.

It shouldn't based on the lore. Fallout is hundreds of years into the future. Why should it look like our modern time at all? The bombs drop hundreds of years from now. The Wasteland is hundreds of years after that. Bethesda's entire Fallout design is like if the bombs dropped in 2008 and the Wasteland takes place in 2009 (which is basically Fallout 76).

If anything most of the Wasteland should be unrecognizable.

The apocalypse in the Fallout takes place in 2077.

As for the games and other media these are the years they take place in the setting:
Fallout 76: 2102-2104
Fallout: 2161
Fallout 2: 2241
Fallout 3: 2277
Falllout New Vegas: 2281
Fallout: 2287
Fallout TV Series: 2296-2297
