I have a feeling the TV show fell into the same trap that the Halo show did, where the people who wrote for it really, really didn't want to make a video game show but were forced into it, so they spent the entire writing process changing as much as they could get away with to make it their own without pissing off the rights holders. The TV show feels like it was made with utter contempt for fallout. Not just contempt for interplay/obsidian fallout, but it even treats Bethesda fallout with disdain. I sincerely don't know who it's for.
It is abundantly clear nobody on the team did even the bare minimum amount of research, ie 5 minutes on the wiki. Then again, same can be said about Bethesda, so I guess they aren't any worse in that regard. I can't see anyone who actually cares about Fallout taking this show seriously, they could make DUST canon for all I care and it won't impact me in the slightest since I will never watch it or even consider events or characters from the show in the timeline. This is just bad fanfiction. The Fallout TV show's timeline is a fucking mess. What happened to the NCR outside of Shady Sands and it's immediate surroundings is a mystery with no actual answer. Hell for a while it was debated if Fallout New Vegas even happened in the shows timeline, since people took the "Fall of Shady Sands" to mean the nuking of it, but I believe someone involved with the writing of it came out and said it happened in 2283 or so, after FNV.
The few looks we got of the Mojave at the end of season 1 show some sort of settlements still existing around Vegas, but Vegas itself is a big old question mark. It might be wrecked, it might be a-ok and the NCR still exists out of the Embassy. I wouldn't rule out them saying "um actually, the NCR still exists even though you never see them and they made zero attempt to bring refugees from Shady Sands back home.", despite there literally being zero evidence that any form the NCR still exists. Remember, the show brought back the fucking Enclave for the 70th time, anything is possible at this point.
Them touching Vegas is going to be a mine field, because it involves choosing one of the endings to be canon and that will piss off a good chunk of fans. I assume they'll either go Mr House or Independent Vegas.
There is dozens of food merchants delivering food to The Strip and surrounding areas, from big suppliers like Crimson Caravans and whoever is delivering to the NCR(you know, feeding an entire damn army of a major nation) to smaller ones feeding local travelers and townspeople like The Nash's or The Grub n' Gulp Rest Stop, not to mention the misc traveling caravans. Of course, anyone who played the game knows this already, so either he didn't or he's doing his bit again where he tries to bring NV to F3's level so he doesn't feel like the inferior one in the conversation(very common when talking with Bethesda fans). In this case, if someone calls him out on it, he will just say that he was joking and that "you're mad" like some small child on 4chan, of course. That's easy. Heck Gunderson sells it to them and, if you play your cards right in the Ultra Luxe when rescuing his son from the cannibals, you can have him cut off the city's food supply. (I tried to find a clip on YouTube, but it turns out there are a million clips of Heck getting framed for the murder of his own son and none of this resolution, so just watch Badger's video and skip to 23 minutes in.)
It is for normalfags who don't know anything about Fallout or clueless Bethesda retards who know nothing about the franchise so they don't care anyways as long as there is power armor and nuka cola they can clap to anytime they see it on the screen. The TV show feels like it was made with utter contempt for fallout. Not just contempt for interplay/obsidian fallout, but it even treats Bethesda fallout with disdain. I sincerely don't know who it's for.
Set the game 25 years after the bombs dropped, add aim down sights, better overall gun design, no level scaling, add more choices to make throughout the main quest, including an option to either side with Eden or Colonel Autumn. Go through the script and rewrite all the especially retarded lines into something less retarded.Since we are discussing Fallout 3, I got a thing for you. It is 2004, and you are in charge of developing Fallout 3, you have creative control, what would you do differently and with the benefit of hindsight?
My favorite part is when she sees the NCR flag and it plays an ominous leitmotif of the FALLOUT 4 THEME! Where The NCR is not even present. Which means somebody googled what game the NCR are in and saw New Vegas as 'the 4th mainline entry' and ripped music from Fallout 4 like a retard instead. The TV show feels like it was made with utter contempt for fallout. Not just contempt for interplay/obsidian fallout, but it even treats Bethesda fallout with disdain. I sincerely don't know who it's for.
I found the armor mod I was talking aboutView attachment 7769366
I haven't caught up to any recent Fallout news, but this appeared when I was Google searching about FNV mods. This will be in Season 2 of the Fallout TV show? Any like guesses to what this means?
I thought the Fallout TV show killed off the NCR and all of the Mojave. Is this for like a flashback scene? Or are they really trying to over-correct with a retcon "oh ackshully, the NCR never fell, Kimball PQTRIQTS QRE IN CQTRQL!"

The art direction in 3 was pure kino, I don't think anyone will deny that. Fallout 4 was all the worse for going with a generic Jetsons 50-60's look to everything even when it made no goddamn sense. They couldn't even get the guns right, no other example is needed other than the dreadful "Assault Rifle" in that regard.Though I must also say fallout 3 was visually carried by Adam adamowicz who unfortunately is no longer with us. 4's art direction is so bizarrely backwards. A simple example: the safes in 3 have a digital keypad, the safes in 4 have a giant old west style wheel latch. It's such a strange choice.
Sometimes it's not even Jetsons, it's just 1920s. The assault rifle being some big interwar water-cooled nonsense is evidence of this. I really think when Boston was chosen as the location, some people on the team wanted to do some Lovecraft derivative thing, 20s aesthetics and all.The art direction in 3 was pure kino, I don't think anyone will deny that. The devs were going for a WW1 watercooled heavy machine gun for the "assault rifle", it's look is no coincidence so not even the 1920s but the early 1900s.Sometimes it's not even Jetsons, it's just 1920s. The main thing I'd do is to have the game world either in a similar level of ruin but at a much earlier time relative to the war, or still have it be like 200 years later but everything is actually developed on the scale of Fallout 2 or New Vegas. That level of consistency alone would address a big chunk of the complaints about the game's faulty worldbuilding in one fell swoop. It would probably also need a completely different main quest, but at least the environment itself would actually suspend your disbelief.Since we are discussing Fallout 3, I got a thing for you. It is 2004, and you are in charge of developing Fallout 3, you have creative control, what would you do differently and with the benefit of hindsight?
Your only limitations are that it must still take place in DC and it must use the same engine.

For shits and giggles, instead of making it be set 20 years after the bombs, id make it a re-nuked hellhole because shenanagins (insert enclave or other faggy antagonist group here) and make it a retarded post-post apocalypseSince we are discussing Fallout 3, I got a thing for you. This proves my point. Heck Gunderson's brahmin are where? California? How are we getting them to New Vegas? There is no logistics. There's no sense to it. Are they walked? There is never any mention of Brahmin runs (would actually be a really fun quest, having the courier protect the herd as they make the journey to vegas, could have it be clearing the path north of Goodsprings). Even if this is the case there's still no indication of it in game. Where does this herd of brahmin sit prior to slaughter? Are they just deposited to the casinos on the strip directly? Why don't you see herders going through Freeside? Maybe they're killed prior to entering the Mojave. If that's the case where are the caravans that deliver them? How do they keep the meat from spoiling on the journey? That's easy. I thought the armor mechanic was kind of neat and visually things looked good. I have a mod that lets you make adjustments to every aspect of it so you can basically craft a piece into specifically what you want, so I've been able to deck people out in full Leather or combat and change the sizes to be heavy so it covers more of them. Getting to see the sets in their complete versions makes a lot of the stuff look great. I wish they had put more underclothes in the game, as that's where I feel like stuff is lacking. The raiders just have long johns, harnesses, and the normal leather jacket or "raider leathers." Including some variants of the older raider armors would solve the problem and just give some additional variety. The normal clothes look a bit too vibrant to me. Very rarely do I see a settler that would look good in normie clothes as most of the settlers are dirty and the clothes are spotless. The Far Harbor clothes in particular do a good job of adding to the scenery. Everyone on the coast is dressed for living by the Atlantic and I want to bring that to a settlement or two in the Commonwealth when I find the time. It is neat having people look the part tho. Every settlement I have guards in I try to deck out in full gear and Minutemen clothes, and there's even a few where I've got the settlers in more bandit-y outfits like they were recruited to defend the settlement in areas that are a bit more dangerous on an immediate need basis.Though I must also say fallout 3 was visually carried by Adam adamowicz who unfortunately is no longer with us. 4's art direction is so bizarrely backwards. A simple example: the safes in 3 have a digital keypad, the safes in 4 have a giant old west style wheel latch. It's such a strange choice.

My main change would be removing the BoS and making the Enclave a vastly more imposing and unique foe instead of "Evil Black Brotherhood". The fight for Project Purity would then become the DC Metro area's settlements banding together to defeat the Enclave to secure their own future in the wasteland, Instead of the BoS just playing babysitter to the retarded children that are the settlements in game. Hell, have a quest where you go and raid a Army Depot to acquire old pre-war T-45s to level the playing field somewhat. Make the fight for Project Purity a actual, hard fight instead of having Liberty Prime do all the heavy lifting.Since we are discussing Fallout 3, I got a thing for you. As someone who has been bullying bethestoids for nearly 20 years, I haven't seen someone still triggered about this particular point in years, holy shit. I really did thought you were doing a bit, but apparently not. This proves my point. Heck Gunderson's brahmin are where? California? How are we getting them to New Vegas? There is no logistics. There's no sense to it. Are they walked? This leads directly into the stuff someone else in this thread driveled out as some kind of own. The sharecropper farm supplies all of Vegas *and* the NCR and surrounding territories? Oh no the Crimson Caravan deals in food with their... zero caravans? Ringo runs the only one that explicitly identifies as a Crimson Caravan Company caravan and it's destroyed before the Courier wanders out of Doc Mitchell's house. Oh no wait the Grub and Gulp fills in the gaps in the supply chain. The Grub and Gulp in question:
Three Brahmin will supply the strip. Don't ask me how.
The rest of the caravans we see in game are destroyed, or traveling nowhere. They do a small loop down by the Mojave outpost, or travel from a random spawn point near Novac, and if you're lucky they wander out in a random direction towards Hidden Valley. If you're unlucky they continue to sit in Novac, which is arguably better since you'll be able to use their services later in game. None of them make it to the 188 Trading Post just up the road. This hub of commerce has 2 merchants that run the bar, a Gun Runner merchant behind a skill check, and you might be able to buy some stuff from a more affiliated NCR woman (she was former NCR, off the top of my head I don't remember if you can barter with her.) Oh and the kid that can read your future!
Mind you this doesn't bother me. Going back to the point of my previous post, this is the kind of stuff that is condemned in Fallout 3 but when pointed out the issues in New Vegas leaps and bounds are made to justify and defend. This doesn't matter to me. Heck says he supplies the Strip then he does. I don't need the brahmin pens that house them prior to the strip to be present to understand they exist, the same way I don't need the Chairmen to show me the stills in the Topps to know they're around. Notice how someone who obsesses acts though. All of a sudden the other groups arguments are steeped in "17 layers of irony" and they're soiling their pants in rage, and actually engaging with their argument is unwarranted because they aren't making any. There is a user right now who is struggling to sneed and every time it becomes blatantly obvious he throws a tard rage and just talks down to everyone involved.
"Nothing I said was incorrect, and as you can see the counter-narratives aren't very strong either. "Oh, you said the truth but I didn't like HOW you said it!"Jesus Christ I wanted to see what I missed and it's just pages of this nigger going "to be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Creetosis." Funnily enough we almost got something like that. Again, as I wrote a few posts earlier, Enclave was originally going to invade Rivet City after Project Purity(in game files state that Tepid Tunnels were supposed to connect Rivet City to The Citadel instead of Project Purity, you were supposed to evacuate the entire town in those tunnels, but again, not possible in Gamebryo). There was a motive for this, as in another cut concept, Dr. Li would have developed an experimental power source that Enclave need or want to research, located in a cut area of the city(it still exists in the game, but Li keeps it in her ass and pulls it out towards the end of the game to power up Liberty Prime). The townspeople would have been refugees and spend the rest of the game in The Citadel once they arrive there, those that survived anyways, altho they are piss-poor fighters so I guess that would be for the best if they remained there instead of fighting like you said. Towards the end of the game, you had to assault, or sneak into Rivet City, to steal the prototype power source to actually earn powering up Liberty Prime, which would be hard for both Combat Boys and Stealth Boys, making for an actually difficulty end game quest. Definitely would have made for a more interesting end quest, even if it would have been janky as hell.My main change would be removing the BoS and making the Enclave a vastly more imposing and unique foe instead of "Evil Black Brotherhood". The fight for Project Purity would then become the DC Metro area's settlements banding together to defeat the Enclave to secure their own future in the wasteland, Instead of the BoS just playing babysitter to the retarded children that are the settlements in game. Dude, I know you're a faggot but it's getting kind of weird how you'll just randomly drag me back into a thread I'm not even actively participating in to keep sperging about whatever the fuck.
Listen, buddy, I'll let you down easy. I do not want to fuck you. I'm sorry. I know as a gay man you want to have sex with handsome big dicked studs such as myself, but you're barking up the wrong tree. Try not to kill yourself over the rejection.
Seemed odd to me that power armor variants weren't really capitalized on until stuff like 76. You could be using modified variants for construction and other various physical work. Could be an interesting method for delivering power armor training early but keeping the armor nerfed for scaling purposes, less protective/effective armor early to progress into military models later on.Speaking of Adam Adamowicz, the Flickr Album of his concept art for Fallout 3 is always pretty cool to look through. Here are some particular favorites of mine. It has over 800 pictures

I mean he's only been here for less than 2 years and he has nearly quintuple the amount of posts the average old fag on this site has. Even Null posts less messages a day on average than this guy.

I think you make a pretty good point that basically kills the argument on both sides. Especially when we remember that the entire map is scaled down for playability, it makes it easier to suspend disbelief. I mean, sure, the map could have been made procedural like Daggerfall and be way too big and have one million farms everywhere with corn and brahmin and very detailed supply lines to appease someone with an embarrassing amount if gameovers. But we have Starfield to show why that's a bad idea even a decade later even with better tech.Three Brahmin will supply the strip. Don't ask me how.
Like some other users in this thread, I agree with him about FNV being the superior game, but I'd rather not stand next to the pants-on-head sperg, can't go on looking retarded by association. There is a user right now who is struggling to sneed and every time it becomes blatantly obvious he throws a tard rage and just talks down to everyone involved.
Whatever are you talking about? *My* Fallout 4 has rows of corn and tatos erected in every settlement and brahmin between to ensure every settler has their tato and corn soup. One of the coolest mods I dl'd was one that allowed you to place anywhere in a settlement, so you can even stack objects. It makes the plants really fun, and instead of mutfruit bushes I make actual Mutfruit trees that grow vertically. I'm thinking about looking through some more mods to either expand how far a settlement can build since i've tried making some different designs. I turned the Boat House outpost into a 3 story building that has housing on the top floor. there's collision here and there but looking at it from the ground it actually looks like something patched together that makes a modicum of sense.especially 4,
i don't disagree that it's a great game, probably the best of all of them. I just don't think it should be above criticism, especially when the *same* criticism is leveled at everything else. And it always leads back to deflections and excuses. "They didn't know the engine! Bethesda didn't give enough time! But at least it's not as bad as Bethesda!"Like some other users in this thread, I agree with him about FNV being the superior game
