If you were to make a fan edit of the show, what would you remove?

If you were to time travel and rewrite the show, what would you replace the existing story with?
  • Remove all the pre-war shit. No Vault-Tec shenanigans, no gratuitous flashbacks, there should be no more than 2 characters who were alive pre-war (I'll allow one old-ass ghoul and one cryopod), certainly no "X dropped the bombs" retardation. Who gives a fuck who dropped the bombs? Least interesting aspect of the entire universe.
  • Remove the in-your-face "capitalism bad". I don't even care if the overall sentiment is still critical of capitalism/consumerism, just do it more subtly for fuck's sake.
  • Remove all the "comedy". It's not allowed to have anywhere near the level it has now. Breaking Bad levels AT MOST. The overall vibe of the show should be serious, scary, and dark (actually dark, not edgy and sardonic).
  • Remove it from the West Coast entirely. Set it in a new area with new stories, like Colorado (which is where it was originally going to be).
  • Main character is not a vault-dweller and they are not searching for a family member.
  • Replace whoever they have doing the score with Inon Zur.
  • Remove the ghoul juice and ghoul magic healing bullshit.
  • Make everyone actually reasonably intelligent and rational.
  • Remove the cold fusion and make the conflict over something more grounded, like water.
  • Remove the pooner.
  • Absolutely no reference to surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge.

whats with bethesda and looking for some family bethesda trope retardation: 3,4 and now this shitshow. they have no writing talent whatsoever it wouldnt be easier do something like new vegas when legit the story are 3 points: someone shoot you: find the fucker and then the game opens up with the entire chip storyline bing bang boom. you can play new vegas for hours before even entering the fucking strip

my boy todd has to be grinning ear to ear with this show shitting all over everything interplay-obsidian did while respecting the 3 and 4.
also i fucking hate the giant monsters in 4 and how faggy the deathclaws look.
Todd seems to only focus on the apocalypse part of the phrase "post apocalypse". Nothing new can be allowed to be created. The survivors of fallout must live like radioactive Abos and never rebuild.

The problem is that bethesda has dogshit writers. the setting doesnt matter. And if the Fallout 4-76 updates shitshow, the starfield flop and the elder scroll vaporware are connected in some way they are actually regressing at the game part

the only locales I can think of are: Texas, Chicago, Toronto ('Ronto) and New Orleans.

I might be biased but Texas has amazing potential for a game if they bothered to put effort in.

The Alamo, UT vs. A&M, NASA in Houston, Air Force in San Antonio, Comanche raids, Texas Rangers, cowboys, oil book towns, and many more things could be expanded on.

Rival tribes in the remains of UT and A&M would be sick. I can already see UT wearing horned helmets and charging in for combat like it's the NFL, while A&M would have ROTC officers leading legions of war dogs.

I had to suffer through this video so now you guys have to as well.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=ezAhdScStUQThis is your enemy, this is the type of person that likes and defends the show.
"Whst does it matter if nuking the world for profit makes no sense? Capitalism bad yall"
I saw this and was considering posting it myself but I thought it would be too politispergy for the thread.

That being said, I only looked at the video to read the comments to see if there were any even half-hearted attempts at refuting the video and the pinned comment left by the breadtuber is one of the most defensive and faggy things I've ever read.

Without even touching the video, I bet I can predict one thing above all else, that "Fallout is communist, ackshually!"

Damn you beat me to posting it, honestly Brandyboy is a funny guy especially when he starts sperging about guns but my god is it cringe how he basically just turned Fallout 4 into Stalker/Tarkov at home.
I play fallout to have fun not larp against hyper realistic damage npcs.
I guess Fallout 4 having splashes of society and a tyrannical overlord to fight or join wouldn't have allowed Bethesda to be lazy and make everything a settlement building zone so we got the more retarded Fallout 4 instead.
Really hope Bethesda limits settlements in fallout 5 to like 3 or 4. Just enough to please people who like building but not so much that they can be lazy and not actually design towns.
Enclave wank is 90% contrarianism anyway. Same with Legion.
I just think they look cool
mostly likely location for Fallout 5 is San Fran, followed by New York. other possibilities include Chicago, Toronto, Texas, or New Orleans
I hope they never fully set a fallout in Canada because I'd rather learn about what happened to Canada from a game set in a border state to Canada like Michigan or Maine.

Vault tec actually dropping the bombs and making it so they just had plans to drop them if it never happened or the resource wars died down.

East coast pre fallout 3 story

And when something new is created it must be a joke

buc-ee's faction

Why not both?
Because doing both is twice the postlength if i want to get indepth.
If i have to reuse the content somehow guess we're getting a Fallout 4 adaptation. Not like it isn't already a shitshow.
Bonus is making the one good Enclave mod the canon ending. Would there be any other option for The Rake, anyways? Also gives an opportunity to retcon the aesthetic to something that sucks slightly less or at least tune down what we did get.
Wholesale replacement means an Enclave show. Either where ED-E was chilling for two years or so, or something from before Richardson got assassinated. Maybe whatever they were doing while The Master was fucking up the Cali area, or the making of Frank.
Then it all goes to hell.

I'm giving Fallout DUST a shot, and I just have a quick question - is a sub-optimal framerate normal? I usually run at 144 fps even on a recent TTW run, but with DUST im getting around high 90s-low 100s.

Alright, let's go with the Enclave show instead, how does it go?
ED-E's Amazing Odyssey. Maybe this one makes it to Navarro or some other West Coast Remnant stronghold, but the majority would be giving a good look at Enclave, whatever's canon from the Midwest BoS (i'd lean towards some sort of Calculator Active ending), and Legion life.
Flashback sequences can be of before the Rig gets blown to hell.

DUST and its scripts weren't fully optimized before the dev dropped the project for FROST, some jank is expected especially when running the game at over 2x its nominally-expected framerate.

while respecting the 3 and 4.
Except it doesn't, The Brotherhood are shown as incredibly incompetent bumbling jock retards who just killed themselves last episode. At this point, there are literally zero factions worth rooting for or respected at all.

The apocalypse and everything beforehand.

Doubtful, Starfield doubled down on empty areas of nothing but they forgot the settlement part of that game.

Good news though, the show seems to be putting the new vegas troons into the "show is good, shitting all over non Bethesda games is fine" camp
https://youtube.com/watch?v=FifGQ9afRJQI felt myself recoiling as the freak had to gush over all the memberberries in the show
I guess the troons never cared about fallout in the end, surprise surprise

Same people that cried when tim said that fallout was not a critique of capitalism btw.

Nick Valentine is one of the most dumbest aspects of Fallout 4, and that's saying something.

The first time you walk into Diamond City you see a guy literally shoot his brother out of fear of him being a synth. The whole game everyone talks about synths replacing people and they're afraid of it happening to them. You can't trust anyone.

But somehow everyone is cool with the very obvious synth in town collecting information on all the inhabitants? And "finding" missing people?

The obvious conclusion, assuming people aren't as retarded as Emil Pagliarulo, is that Nick doesn't find people. He finds out what they look and acted like, then has the institute make a copy.

Obviously Nick doesn't actually do this, but it
is beyond retarded that no one in game even considers this a possibility.
He could literally be handing detailed 24/7 recordings of everyone in town to an institute agent a block away and they just don't care
I've been thinking about this a lot today. It would have been so much better if Piper was Diamond City's investigator instead of journalist and she was the one looking for people. Heck, you could still find her in Vault 114 like you do Nick, and she drops the stupid journalist schtick, especially her backstory about saving her hometown from a traitor or whatever. After gaining her trust or having her as a companion for so long, she would say "hey, I think the Mayor Might be a synth, here's my evidence, but I need to be sure. Want to help?" Then you get a neat companion quest.
Nick could then be found in the Memory Den trying to reconcile his "past" and who he is as a synth in a bombed out world. You could take him on as a companion and help him find the holotapes and bring closure to the Eddie Winter investigation only to find Eddie Winter's corpse (not ghoulified btw) and maybe some of original Nick's belongings or his actual grave. Something more than "hey, my opponent is still alive, somehow... let's kill him."
Are you implying that the TV show is part of official canon? Because if I were Todd Howard I wouldn't allow for that and relegate it to Star Wars expanded universe status.
Just as I do not need the Catholic Magisterium to discern the true canon of the Bible I do not need Todd and Emil to help me discern the true canon of Fallout (1, 2, FNV, the Fallout Bible).

I'm not going to quote it (as I cannot remember where it was in the thread, though it was recent), I think the original idea of what started the war was Vault Tec dropping a nuclear bomb on a vault door as a test and the US panicked and all hell broke loose. I like that better than "we dropped the bombs because of muh capitalism"

Doubtful, Starfield doubled down on empty areas of nothing but they forgot the settlement part of that game.
That's what killed any interest in Starfield for me, I figured they would build on F4 and do some space colonization stuff, give a money and resource sink, especially since space colonization is a cornerstone of the genre. But no, just empty, repeated, procedurally generated dungeons. Should have remade Daggerfall instead.
