Didn't the actual historical Ceasar also have some kind of brain fuckery? Like mini-strokes or something.
There's a few noted incidents, yeah.
Dictator Perpetuus: Julius Caesar—Did he have seizures? If so, what was the etiology?
The “
Dictator Perpetuus” of the Roman Empire, the great Julius Caesar, was not the one for whom the well-known cesarean operation was named; instead, this term is derived from a Latin word meaning “to cut.” Caesar likely had epilepsy on the basis of four attacks that were probably
complex partial seizures: (1) while listening to an oration by Cicero, (2) in the Senate while being offered the Emperor's Crown, and in military campaigns, (3) near Thapsus (North Africa) and (4) Corduba (Spain). Also, it is possible that he had absence attacks as a child and as a teenager. His son, Caesarion, by Queen Cleopatra, likely had
seizures as a child, but the evidence is only suggestive. His great-great-great grandnephews Caligula and Britannicus also had seizures. The etiology of these seizures in this Julio-Claudian family was most likely through inheritance, with the possibility of
sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) in his great grandfather and also his father. Our best evidence comes from the ancient sources of Suetonius, Plutarch, Pliny, and Appianus.
It's a very small piece of trivia about him that might've been intentionally evoked by Obsidian or something.
They weren't too frequent but there's no pattern between the noted fits and it's unsure how frequent or how many he experienced. There's also another theory he suffered a series of mini-strokes instead which'd be more congruent with these incidents only occurring well into adulthood but who knows.
Vault Dweller (original) was never exposed until the Vats, and even then that's far more than trace. Chosen One theoretically also skipped exposure since by the time of their birth their stock was (almost) entirely from a Vault and the atmospheric FEV stream had died off.
The only PCs this works on are Lone Wanderer (explicitly out-of-Vault stock) and Courier 6 ('lol who the fuck knows'), since Sole Survivor is explicitly pre-war stock unless you adopt the retarded theory they're a gen 3 synth, in which case that's also not trace exposure, their entire body is made of the stuff Super Mutant style.
Cool theory though, even if it's just Nuclear Throne leveling.
There's some more autism to chew on regarding this theory.
Military Base lvl 4 transcript.
The excavation is going according to schedule. Judging by the old base blueprints, we should be reaching the Vats area shortly. Increased levels of the FEV virus are present in both the air and soil samples we've taken. Luckily our suits filter out the virus. Tell the members of the Enclave they should have a pure sample of the mutagen soon.
Also, I've begun to notice some changes in the miners. They seem to be showing signs of increased strength, stamina and a slight change in skin tone; obvious signs of mutations by the FEV. The men are getting nervous, as they too have noticed the change. Although I've increased the number of guards, I fear if the workers completely mutate, we'll be vastly outnumbered. It is my hope, that since we are using the local inhabitants as a work force, full mutation won't occur unless they are directly exposed (dipped) in a pure source or prolonged exposure to the virus occurs. As you recall, minute amounts of the virus have been detected throughout this region. Tests on subjects living in this area have shown that they have built up a tolerance to the FEV virus. However, I advise caution since exposure to this level of the FEV virus was never entered into the calculations. I advise that you rig the entrance to the base to collapse as soon as a pure sample is obtained. This will seal the exposed miners into the base and prevent unfriendlies from obtaining the virus once we are gone.
Lieutenant dialogue ({197})
So, you're from a Vault and have limited exposure to this mutated virus. The original FEV in the Vats should work quite well on you.
Even limited exposure is enough to cause minor mutation and genetic alteration. It seems to permeate like radiation, meaning any carrier of F.E.V also emits it as a source, even if it's more potent in vat, injection, or aerosol forms.
Meanwhile when the protags are exploring the wastes, being exposed to sources of radiation and F.E.V mutated creatures both. Dirty water, old stimpacks, eating FEV-tained meat or inhaling the literal burnt shit of Brahmin they're further exposing themselves to contaminants of the virus.
Also a somewhat funny, cyclical thing to consider:
Pre 1: The Glow is blown up, sending a deluge of FEV into the atmosphere.
Fallout 1: blowing up Mariposa sends another deluge of FEV into the atmosphere.
Fallout 2: blowing up the oil rig sends another deluge of FEV into he atmosphere.
Fallout 3: blowing up Raven Rock (Eden suicide or Brotherhood during the 2-week Coma in Broken Steel) sends another deluge of FEV into the atmosphere.
Fallout 4: blowing up the Institute sends up another deluge of FEV into the atmosphere
All these examples expose F.E.V to get mutated in the irradiated wasteland.
Lieutenant:
"The FEV was mutated by the war radiation. Those living in this desolate wasteland have been exposed to this mutant FEV, essentially inoculating them from the full effects."
This would make Courier 6 the only Fallout protagonists who didn't contaminate the air with more F.E.V... Unless you take non-game materials as gospel, at which point Courier 6 might've also (indirectly) sent more FEV into the atmosphere after the Divide got nuked.
One could infer from Chris Avellone that there was F.E.V at Hopeville and the tunnelers are somehow the result of it.
Hearty congratulations to the only Fallout protagonist who didn't release more F.E.V into the air: The Warrior, from Fallout Tactics.
The protag of that Xbox BoS game might've deserved the reward but I can't imagine that game doesn't have an explosion of some structure containing F.E.V in it.
Maybe that's how you make your game canon: you need to blow up someplace containing F.E.V. to guarantee the next protagonist gets tainted by it.
