PatricianTV, a long format video essay channel mostly known for his ridiculous 20 hour analysis of Skyrim and 8 hour analysis of Starfield, has apparently rode a bike from LA to DC, visiting the major Fallout locations on the way. This is noteworthy as I believe this is the very first video of it's kind that covers Fallout Tactics, which takes place in the MidWest(Chicago to Colorado and everything inbetween).

This brings up a good question, why don't bikes exist in fallout? I get why working cars are rare but you would think bikes would have popped up somewhere at some point

its fallout 3 inspired because new vegas was only 6 months old at the time and was still full of bugs and seen as a failure compared to 3, also the author liked how much darker a tone 3 had which carried over into fallout equestria. Hell i remember early mods or "fan games" based on FO:E that were just fallout 3 with those gmod pony character models

Horsefuckers in the Fallout community are old news by now, I would say I'm surprised this thread doesn't know about them, but then I would be lying.

Anyways, the Equestria thing doesn't even bother me since it's not surprising horsefuckers would be attracted to Fallout 3/New Vegas, these games are super mainstream. What gets me is that later on, these same people made a mod for Fallout 2, of all games.

For reference(since most posters in this thread are tourists), Fallout 2 only has a handful of mods due to the community for the game being much sparser than for the 3D titles, and modding for the older games being relatively difficult. This means that for an equivalent of a low effort meme mod, someone had to learn how to mod a 20+ year old game by that point, make the assets required and make sure to test the game properly to see if they worked, all so that they can say that one of the few handful of mods for Fallout 2 is a funny horse player model. Bronies are a cancer and I am glad they are all but gone these days.

I am pretty sure most people are aware of the horsefucker mods for 3, NV and 4, I mean fuck I am pretty sure that everyone here remembers when they would force their shit onto everything they can during the aughts and 2010. However it is pretty reasonable for them to not be aware of dumb shit they wouldn't normally care about like a horsefucker's fan fiction and the content there of. Sloptubers don't trigger me but I value my time and would rather spend it doing something I enjoy rather than reading anything MLP related.

That said while I have seen the mods for 3, NV and 4 I did not know that 2 had one too, I stick to just the Restoration patch when I do my yearly replay, and now I feel the urge to punch a brony. I 100% agree with you when it comes to them, the day they are all extinct will be a good one.

Still the design language for F3 is rather flawed being carried hard by the art direction of Adam Adanawitz. His death is why we have the Jetsons art direction that feels like a parody of fallout.

Adam's art feels inspired of F1 and 2 but not derivative, he was asked to design an ugly destroyed rebuiding world with touches of steampunk and he did just that. A lot of the art reminds me of Tank Girl's art for some reason



Which, given how Fallout 1/2's art was pretty inspired by comic book art from it's time, it does feel rather fitting as well.

There was just something about Fallout 3's art design that just "worked", perhaps way more than it should have all things considered but Adam does deserve a lot of credit and F4 was way worse off without him.

Always said that I would so buy a Fallout comic with a drawing style based on Adam's concept art. It just feels dirty, abandoned, dystopian but also visually engaging and impactful.

The inner workings of his mind are an enigma.

I think they do exist "in lore" (tho mostly on the NCR). This is where the Gamebryo/Creation engine really shows off their limitations, to the point it affects the world building itself because, logically, there should be all sort of transportation methods around, some more functional than others but still, but there arent, at least not in gameplay because the engine just wasnt built with vehicles of any kind in mind beyond just fast travel with extra steps (may I remind you that they unironically thought it was a good idea to have huge expansive fields of fucking nothing with no vehicles in Starfield?).

I legit think one of the many reasons Bethesda favors a forever Wasteland is the fact that the engine is better suited for it, now of course it wouldnt be impossible to do so as FNV has proven but they legit dont care, Bethesda demonstrated they are peak "no fucks given, we know we somehow will still get millions out of you idiots".

I never want to see another west coast game again, but I have always really wanted to see the 80's. Honest hearts and the Pitt we're really good at worldbuilding outside the playable areas. I wish the games just name dropped stuff like "yeah there's a civilization in Toronto" or "there's a bunch of cannibal and biker tribes up near Utah" more often
