My bad. But there were still other great FPS games like Goldeneye (N64) and Dark Forces (Playstation) which far predated Halo.-Counter-Strike hit shelves in November 2000. Halo came out in 2001. How was it "years"?
-Halo's claim to fame isn't it's gunplay; it was Xbox Live online play and it's button mapping. Ever since halo everyone uses it's control layout.
Also, Halo 1 did not have Xbox Live online play. Halo 1 became Xbox's Mario because it genuinely was a good FPS game that had better AI than any FPS had at the time. Halo 2 had online play, and that game came in THREE YEARS after the Xbox launched. By that time, the Xbox was already well-established as a platform that can compete with Nintendo and Sony, and Halo was already a famous franchise by that time.
