If you plug it in to instant quote sites you get a value of about $250k. Probably a bit less than that if an appraiser actually came and saw what work was needed. Definitely nowhere near half a million.

Context: the painting was a class assignment. The purpose of the assignment was to paint a portrait of a controversial celebrity as accurately as possible. Other students chose serial killers, Bill Cosby, Kevin spacey, etc. so I assumed Chris would be perfect for this. I did end up getting into my school’s exhibition, despite people attempting to get me kicked out. I still attend the school, and have sent any records of this situation to administration to let them know what’s happening.

Before the painting was finished, my school was having an event where students were allowed to sell any art/craft things they made. It mostly consisted of stickers, but I decided to be a last minute vendor and sold sonichu related patches and stickers. I did this dressed as Chris Chan and had a price/product sign modeled after Chris’s attraction sign.

This apparently disturbed people, but I was never told to stop before, during, or after the event and only found out people were bothered days after via social media posts. I chimed in on all of the posts, promoting my patches/stickers as a meme. this of course caused other students to ‘cyber harass’ me by calling me a rape apologist and generally being rude.

Then, finally, the Christ Chan painting was finished and that’s when other students claimed that it was harmful to rape victims, that I worshiped Chris, that I was a violent person etc. and not only upped the level of harassment (targeting people in other schools who they assumed were related to me, other people who they thought were family members, finding obituaries that had an old address to use against me etc.) but also sent posts from my page to administration without context.

The students at my school claimed I was planning to committing a mass shooting as I had made multiple posts referencing shooting myself. Administration mistook it as I was going to kill myself and actually took me out of class as a sort of wellness check. I explained the whole situation to them, took screenshots of everything and any other records I had and sent it to them. They have stated that they won’t do anything as there were no threats made.
