Favourite "Old Internet" stuff - Let's reminisce about the Wild West days

I miss when people used to have colorful blog pages and websites in general. It added so much more personality than… whatever the fuck we have now with Web 2.0.

I also miss when I didn't run into scamming Jeets on every fucking platform. Sure, you had Nigerians sending emails about princes but at least they were funny.

We are told it's ugly to have colors and themes on your web page, that this is a joke -

Minimalism killed the internet, everything is so lifeless and hollow now.

It was gone for a few years, but then they relaunched it. I used to spend hours playing this back when it first came out. Chat rooms were so incredible as an early part of the internet, and Sissyfight 2000 had a great chat component.

When I was in school I was obsessed with consuming any Left 4 Dead content I could get my hands on (I actually still play the game to this day because I'm a sperg), so does any other fan remember the Left 4 Dead Parody series?
It manages to be both painfully unfunny and also insanely kino at the same time, I love it.

I also love lucius0mega's work and still re-watch it to this day because I'm genuinely jealous of his artstyle. It's not the most clean or polished but the way he draws expressions is just so fucking good. I aim for that level of expressiveness in my art. I'm also so sad he only made a few animations.

I will attach it to this post when I get back to my computer

august 2024 the promise was made a file they said when they got home they said i marked the day held onto the words like they meant something

september came then october the leaves fell winter wrapped the world in cold and still no file december arrived the year turned over and i told myself perhaps january perhaps they were merely delayed

but now it is february 2025 the days have stretched thin the promise faded into dust i have seen it happen before but still i waited still i believed

foolish there is no file there was never a file only words left to wither in the passing time

i shall await the file until the end brother

I’m so old I remember when porn could only be supported in 60 second clips. Places like 89.com
Or learning html from a how to so I could customize my MySpace page.
Really do get a lot of nostalgia for that time.
Back before the censors and filters ruined the normiesphere of bandwidth.
I remember this time!!
My MySpace was a hello hole of random HTML crap because I went in deep and just messed around as much as I could. Haha.

Dude it was wild trying to figure it out at the time. Why FB or any of the other socials have never incorporated the background music is beyond me. That was prob the coolest part of MySpace was all the awesome music I discovered that I prob would’ve never seen otherwise

anyone else love Nyan Cat and just never stopped loving Nyan cat?
I feel like I love Nyan cat for a different reason than I did before, idk he represents the unseriousness of life.

god it reminds me of early 2010s in general. The shades, "swag", yolo, trolling, etc. To me that never died, it shouldve never been a trend. Stuff like that being in culture invokes playfulness in everyone, everyone was so less hateful despite edgy humor being at its peak.
