it doesn't surprise me that chris drowns himself in toys
the alternative is to face something he can't even comprehend and remember how little he has and how much he lost
on the other hand, he's not doing anything to make the pain go away, he's just ignoring it and letting the wounds fester

Bob will never stop rolling in his grave. Not when there are some sort of antics Chris has done since after Bob passed away, from the last incident with the Game Place to accidentally burning the house.

Do we know for sure that Bob called Chris a "faggot"? Or is it Chris' version of Daddy Rape Day?

How do we know Bob's other kids hate him?

I think of that "Big C and Little C" sign and I do believe Bob gave a shit about Chris and was genuinely fond of him in some way. Hell, even his refusal to send Chris to special schools was him caring. In an ignorant and maybe even lazy way since he didn't bother researching to see that the tard schools of the 80s weren't like the institutional nightmares of the 50s; but in his mind he was sparing Chris torment. Road to hell, good intentions, and all that.

As for Chris, I don't see any reason to disbelieve his affection for Bob.

Cole said he would celebrate when Bob dies, that implies hatred. His daughter did not attend his funeral and had little to no contact with the family. His son David may not have hated him but had little contact with him, Chris did not know he had a niece until she was 7 years old.
 
Does the Chandler Family Christmas 2004 qualify as a modern classic Christmas special? It's not true seasonal depression until you put that on.

I'm not going to jump on Chris for a sincere and legit sentiment. But my sympathy is contingent on him not turning right around and either begging for money or threatening someone's life over toys or cartoons.
 
You know, Chris, the best way to pay tribute to Bob would be to become the son he wanted.

I don't think Chris would make something like that up. When he lies, it tends to be very spontaneous, very transparent and usually it's intended to get him out of some trouble he's got himself into, or to obtain something he wants. There's also the fact that he has a small child's respect/fear of his parents, so I don't think he'd lie about Bob like that.

From Bob's perspective, he grew up about a generation earlier than most parents of children Chris' age, so his youth and much of his adulthood would have been spent in an environment where homosexuals were at best sissies and at worst molesters. I don't believe Bob was the far-right quasi-Nazi Cole paints him as, but I can't imagine he would have been too happy with his son's sudden decision to turn gay.

Rest In Peace Bob, you magnificent old son of a bitch. You weren't perfect, but by god you were the closest thing to a parent our boy Chris had. Hopefully wherever you are now you're not surrounded by trash and vermin.
