Chris means well overall for the cat. He's not a sociopath, and he's not going to purposefully abuse an animal. He neglects out of ignorance and just not learning how to parent an animal, because his own parents were terrible at that job themselves. I can't blame him for that.

...doesn't mean I'm not uber concerned for the cat though. I'm already pretty sensitive about the dogs' situation, since obesity is really serious for dogs that are low to the ground like beagles. They're not as susceptible as, say, basset hounds, but it's pretty bad nonetheless. Beagles also get ear infections very easily if not properly groomed, and that causes them a lot of pain. Highly doubt the Chandlers bathe them, let alone bathe them AND make sure their ears canals are properly dried.
What really concerns me is the fact that the cat has a wound. Even if it's stitched together, the wound needs to be redressed. I doubt Chris is competent enough to undress, clean, and redress the site. Or hell, even remembering to take the wrapping off after a few days. I'm just imagining him just completely forgetting about the cat like he does with anything that's important but not directly about him, and the cat getting necrosis from the wound becoming moist and gross via bandage pressure.

It's just a sad situation overall. We don't want the Chandlers to have pets, but reporting them will most likely result in the animals getting euthanized. So really, this is a debate of what's more ethical: taking the animals away for them to die peacefully and quickly, or let them stay only for them to probably slowly die due to malnutrition and neglect.

the ethics of a swift and peaceful death over a slow, agonizing one is quite obvious to me, if anyone of you is in virginia, call animal control because the chandlers shouldn't own any pets

All three of the lowest quality possible.
Ok, but that is how pets work.

I don't doubt that most of the people who are really upset about this are much "better" pet owners than Chris and Barb, and spend more time, money, and care on their animals. That's great. But that is way above the minimum standard that animal control agencies for pet care. Basically you need to not abuse them badly and not do things which puts their lives at risk.

There is a reason for that. Enforcing any standard which the Chandler's would have to involve really getting up into the business of anyone with a pet. If every dog owner faced random inspections and risked losing their pet if the fence on their pen was shoddy, they fed them a little too much, or they missed a couple walks, it would be ridiculous. As a society, we don't get up into people's business to that degree for a reason.

We know the dogs piss and shit on news papers on the floor right in whats left of the living room, but where do the cats do their biz?

If watching animal hoarders was any indication, in the hoard. Cat waste products make a highly toxic mix that increase the rot of the Hoard.

Maybe along with the Chandlers... joking, joking, at least for now.

Cats and hoards are like fire and gasoline together. An unholy perfect storm.

Cats:
Hide in barbage.
Shit and piss in barbage.
Die in barbage.
Give birth in barbage.
Fight in barbage.

This becomes an endless loop until the house will be nothing but mountains of cat bodily waste and rotting, mold infested garbage with cat corpses thrown in for decoration. As the pet hoarder gets used to the filth, he/she will also become filthier. Bags of shit stacked up against the wall are not uncommon.

Of course, the Chanlders are not there yet. These cat hoards usually need 50+ cats to truly began to manifest. But its not an impossible future for Chris.

I will say that at least the Chandler's seem to understand spaying and neutering. I feel if they were a little bit less lazy Barb is the type of person to take up backyard breeding and sell their "purebred" mutts for exorbitant prices.

They bought those beagles. Chris was bragging about how they're registered. Beagles rain from the sky here. You can get better stock of Beagles for free.

That gives me a terrible image of Chris making a terrible commercial/advertisement on youtube entitled
"Pristine Christine and Barb's Puppy Mill: Not Raided by the ASPCA since the last litter." They would try to sell a new breed of dog (TM) that is really just some muts Chris found on his way back from Charlottesville.

that title is way to understandable to be something Chris would make it would either be title with a number or just be called Puppys or somthing along those lines

Oh, that makes sense. They're in crushing debt and spending literally every penny on shit that they don't need to the extent that Chris has to beg to pay their bills because he refuses to be a functional, productive member of society, but they found space in the budget for another pet to neglect for the next decade.

Fuck you, Chris.

And even at that point all that's going to happen is to remedy or face fines. Authorities are going to try and exhaust all possible solutions before taking the animal. The animals have to be in pretty rough shape for them to be taken outright.
Sounds like those poor animals are going to get the same treatment Chris received from Borb when he was younger.

Ok, but that is how pets (˅ a.) work.
a. women, being a woman, being transgender, dating, socializing with women, socializing with people, inseminating yourself, balding, hair dye, female voice, taints, society, law, lesbians, sex, and the list can go on and on.

You saying "that's not how pets work" reminded me of this video, it's like Chris' life in a nutshell.

What's the likelihood, do you think, that Chris and Barb have obtained the toxoplasma gondii parasite from the animals? It has some pretty interesting effects on the human psyche, usually absentmindedness, loss of judgement, and usually HIV shit.

Chris isn't a sociopath, but he's abysmally stupid, lazy, and negligent, and that can often be just as bad. I prefer dogs, but I love animals in general. Seeing animals kept in disgusting conditions like Casa de Chandler by lazy, irresponsible people like the Chandlers makes me sick. Pets are supposed to be part of the family and cared for like any family member, not bought on an impulse because the person has a mental illness that compels them to buy things to fill a perceived hole in their lives like some cheap toy, then never cared for properly. I just thank God that Chris will never breed. You can tell how terrible he'd be at parenting by the way he cares for his animals.
