Female Socialisation and Multiplayer Party Video Games - Why women rage at party games more than men

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
If a guy is bad at something, it makes the guy look bad. If a girl is bad at something, it makes all girls look bad. It's a lot of pressure.

Like a "nigga moment" but for the sexes, I can see it now.
BPDemon: "The fuck you just do to me, bitch?"
Guy in COD: "Hey now-- oh, wait a minute, I'm a man."
BPDemon: "Where you going? This is a perfectly good moment to get your account banned!"

On a more serious note, I have not encountered this often. I have gamed since I was pretty damn young and am an actual woman, I have seen some female rage quits or crashouts, but they are actually pretty rare all things considered in comparison to the constant male ones. Yeah, the more mentally unstable to woman in the game, the more likely you'll get funny seething, but with guys? Even the most chill ones can go rage mode. I think there are multiple factors that contribute to this. You could argue with the advent of streaming and profiles, women play more into the damsel in distress role in games rather than displaying how fucking mad they are because rage is unfeminine and being a woman bolsters you instantly in a gaming group and guys will give you free shit for no reason other than being a woman, even if they have no idea what you look like or how old you are. This is a plausible tactic that could cause women to less openly display their anger at getting their shit kicked in online. Women in a group as the only girl is one thing, but with other women? That's where it can become a competition fast. Stacy and Alexa are vying for one guy's schlong and being that cool girl who can beat others in vidya becomes a quick way to earn points with him, and while there is this secret war between them to which Chad is (or isn't) oblivious to, women are emotional and can take out their anger and frustration on each other through the video game vicariously instead of having a catfight IRL and risking pain and humiliation. Again, this is one factor of several. I mean, unlike trannies, basic biology does show that testosterone is the MALE hormone which causes way higher levels of violence and anger. No shit guys are gonna rage more often, and while they have probably had decades of learning to tamp it down, cope, or simmer down quickly before making an ass of themselves, still happens a ton. I cannot tell you how many screencaps I have of dudes raging at me on Pokemon Showdown, a Pokemon battle simulator, because I use trash gimmick sets and they don't know the lower tier mons movesets so this infuriates them to no end when they lose to these. I also have a semi feminine username, so I've gotten everything from hateful women comments about how they will rape me to being asked out after beating them. Funny as hell IMO, but again, it is MEN who do this mostly. That being said, I mostly game with my fellow millenials, no idea how the Zoomies fare these days with people in games in multiplayer. Earth may pass away, but women in video games and arguments around them are eternal.

"The Effects of Mario Party Culture on Women," is a grant waiting to happen. Word it the right way and you can convince them it's sexist *not* to fund it.

Women are more sensitive than men socially. Groups have more people = more social activity. More people = more eyes on you potentially judging your every move.
Some women can take the pressure, some cant.
But tbh we're moving towards a more androgenous society in general, don't matter if you like it or not. I've seen men display all kinds of feminine behavior when they crash and fail on the punchline too.
