The fighting game community, abbreviated as the "FGC," is a long-running collection of individuals rife with eccentricity and drama that extends for decades which has only intensified after being thrusted into the mainstream. There have been countless incidents of infighting and embarrassment from the naive youth which makes up the FGC which, until now, have only been known through word-of-mouth and grainy videos. As the various young members have grown into their adult years, actions in the past and present are catching up to them, leading to many being outed and cancelled in a massive wave of tournament bans. Most disconcertingly, not even the creators of fighting games nor event organizers are safe from being outed with varying levels of credibility, resulting in them being barred from events and backstabbed by their once-friends.

This thread shall serve as an overview of what is currently most affecting the FGC interspersed with minor yet notable incidents, in addition to being a directory to specific individuals and sub-communities within it. Readers who are or know somebody who is familiar with notable events within the FGC are encouraged to please share it here. To maintain the feeling of approachability, any readers are also encouraged to make throw-away accounts specifically to document drama if they are a member of the FGC or are knowledgeable of its history. If they would like an extra layer of anonymity, they also free to send a private message to myself, and I shall post any information on your behalf with no identifying info nor questions asked, assuming the info is credible.

GROWING PAINS

Given the nature of the FGC being a collection of gamers dedicated to test their skills against one another over the mastery of the game, it was only a matter of time before eccentricity infighting began to rear its head within the community. In every sub-community of the FGC, separated by their game of choice, there are many uncited rumors or stories of drama which circulate within them. Luckily, there are a few stories which are provable with video and photographic evidence, demonstrating that the FGC is no stranger to drama.

Among the more notable of these instances is the "Shinblade" encounter. During a tournament, the winner of the game, Shinblade, celebrated their victory by standing on their chair and yelling. This caused NaughtyZeut, who was theorized to be either a friend or in a relationship with the loser of the game, to grab his shirt and pull him down to her, leading to Shinblade's now-infamous outburst, "who bitch this is!?"

Unfortunately, there's not much evidence to prove the following, but the often-repeated story is that NaughtyZeut then tried to claim Shinblade had grabbed her, but backpedaled when the above video was released. Regardless, many spectators within the video can be heard demanding Shinblade be disqualified despite NaughtyZeut grabbing him and Shinblade not laying a finger on her.

Other altercations are thankfully more obvious from the video alone without need to backstory or explanation. Given the highly competitive nature of the FGC, sore losers abound and a large number videos exist demonstrating poor sportsmanship. In this video, the loser of the match, Noel Brown, can be seen assaulting a spectator who had a broken leg for mocking Noel's defeat.

But not all examples of poor sportsmanship within the FGC are tied to violence. All one needs to look to is the Cryin' Brian video. In it, Murphy, who identified himself as "Brian" in the video, breaks down into tears for losing a $50 money match, although he was goaded by his opponent and observers.

Beyond poor sportsmanship, there are also large personalities and figures of the FGC who are far from immune to drama and mockery. Some are innocuous but quite silly, such as Alex Jebailey, the operator of the CEO tournaments who is well-known enough to have a popular emote on Twitch, being caught looking at transgender porn during a stream.

1593651869773.png 1593651873686.png

Perhaps as fitting foreshadowing, another humorous example of ridiculous drama involves another FGC personality, MaxamillionDood, accidentally uttering the dreaded, cursed, and forbidden "N-Word" during a tongue-tied moment on stream.

Still more foreshadowing but severely more dire, the most prominent example of FGC drama happening outside of the games involves the sexual assault allegations against Japanese and transgender player Gllty. Needless to say, Gllty was already a rather "curious" individual.

1593652181699.png

What makes them noteworthy is that Gllty was quickly accused of drugging and raping other members, in addition to using their transgender identity as a shield against criticism.

1593652274141.png 1593652287672.png

Despite denying these accusations, it was only a matter of time before Gllty admitted guilt and was promptly forbidden from entering any further tournaments.

1593652341275.png 1593652361204.png

This outcry regarding sexual abuse and racism serves as but a taste of what laid in wait for the FGC in the upcoming years.

ALLEGATIONS GALORE

As Gltty's story shows, accusations of sexual assault, proven or otherwise, is all it takes to cease a person's involvement within the FGC. What can only be described as a domino effect began to occur within the FGC, with small beginnings of pro player Infiltration being banned for physically assaulting his wife.

But what seems to have really set the spark for multiple allegations against countless individuals to follow was the Mike Z allegations. Using these logs as evidence, Mike Z, who is the programmer of the fighting game "Skull Girls," tried awkward attempts at flirting in response to an equally awkward girl who initiated the uncomfortable exchange to begin with, with the girl thanking him for "BDSM" themes within Skull Girls.

1593652941388.png 1593489778199.png 1593489781584.png 1593489784816.png 1593489793423.png 1593489788857.png 1593489797110.png 1593489800079.png 1593489802990.png 1593489805907.png

Tying in to the following wave of racism accusations to wash over the FGC, this is all following the recent fallout from another instance of Mike Z being cancelled for spaghetti and making an off-color George Floyd joke.

The woman responsible for the sexual abuse accusation, "Bunny Ayumi," quickly had her own dirty laundry dug up, leading to her being accused of pedophilia for expressing her like of "shota," which is pornography depicting underaged boys, and accusing Mike Z for the sake of attention.

1593653263624.png 1593653274970.png 1593653387862.png

In addition, Bunny had not once contacted Mike Z regarding his comments, instead posting the conversation on Twitter first and approaching Mike Z about it after. It is clear that this slight backlash against Bunny led to her begrudgingly accepting Mike Z's apology in private. However, on Bunny's end, all she could do regarding the irreversible destruction to Mike Z's reputation she caused is shrug her shoulders, talk down to him anyway, give a ham-fisted excuse, and delete the evidence.

1593653435665.png

The damage was already done, however, and this all culminated in Mike Z being not only banned from major events which were hosting his own game...

1593653633681.png 1593653643619.png 1593653649939.png

...But also multiple players both dropping his game and making even more allegations against him, including Mike Z's friend SonicFox, who Mike Z had added into the game as a background character, stabbing him in the back for clout. In addition, any who were caught defending Mike Z were soon unpersoned by the hivemind.

1593652965154.png 1593652972867.png 1593652980269.png 1593652986911.png 1593652992402.png 1593652999266.png 1593653013122.png 1593653019787.png 1593653032585.png 1593653039747.png

F.G.C. IS R.I.P.

The last thing the FGC needed was a wave of people being cancelled, especially amidst coronavirus claiming another victim after EVO was required to host its event online in 2020.

1593490066353.png 1593490106646.png

But Mike Z's allegations have led to many to come forward with accusations of abused, assault, and racism against many members of the FGC, all off the back of a massive banwave known as "FGCancelled."

The short and sweet of what led to "FGCancelled" is that FGC staple Low Tier God, an angry streamer who is often the butt of many jokes within the FGC, made a massive outburst complaining about a trans donator he was playing against, which resulted in him being banned from a majority of events.

1593490338937.png

In retaliation, Low Tier God tried and succeeded in getting Ceroblast, the transgender player who got him banned, banned as well for saying the forbidden N-word.

1593490590664.png 1593490686188.png

In addition to EVO, other major events likewise banned Ceroblast for his spoken blasphemy.

1593490782671.png 1593491131496.png

Needless to say, this disastrously backfired on Ceroblast, who soon hid their account and was put on a literal suicide watch.

1593491199204.png 1593491239333.png 1593491247891.png 1593491263542.png

However, given the nature of the FGC and its high demographic of black members, this new "No N-Word" rule was soon realized as unenforceable, as nearly every major member of the community has been caught saying it once in the past. Rather than realizing this new rule would result in a majority of the FGC being banned, major events decided to double down and be ready and willing to ban everyone instead. Those who have yet to be banned are now walking on thin ice, as it would take merely one angry person and some public outcry to effectively cancel any member of the FGC.

1593490953190.png 1593490949363.png 1593490944994.png 1593490940699.png

All this culminates in the now-tenuous stability of the FGC. Between constant bouts of drama, cancellations, and accusations, the future of the community is becoming uncertain. Even now, the pile of allegations against members of the FGC being involved in pedophilia, sexual assault, and racism begins to grow from a mere handful of examples to a galaxy-sized horde. Since the FGC's creation, it has been no stranger to infighting, and as recent events have proven, these incestuous slapfights will continue from decades still and decades to come.

SPECIFIC LOLCOWS AND COMMUNITIES

Any user is welcome to post about these specific individuals or communities within this thread as long as there is direct overlap with the FGC. Otherwise, please post about isolated events within the threads given.

Phil Burnell / DarkSydePhil
Although he now has a limited interaction with it, he got his start in the FGC by claiming to be the "top ranked American player" for Street Fighter 2 because he got fourth in a tournament, placing under three Japanese players, when other players were boycotting because the tourney used a broken and obscure port of the game. Despite being now known as a hilariously bad content creator for video game let's plays, his videos playing fighting games are still among his more iconic moments.

Dale Wilson / Dulaun Sparrow / Low Tier God
An oaf nearing his 40's who streams daily and is the effective laughingstock of the FGC community, he is also known as "Black DSP" or "Dark Skin Phil." Infamous for regularly ragequitting, angry rants, and absurd world views which he regularly divulges in, his delusions of grandeur and frequent interactions with trolls give a constant drip-feed of content. His mindless fans are also of note, and will fight and die for him without a second thought despite how he regularly bans, insults, or even doxes them.

SonicFox / Dominique McLean
An annoying furry player with a gore fetish and aversion to showering who will do pretty much anything for attention, including backstabbing their friends or attending award ceremonies and dancing on stage in a fursuit despite not even winning. Undercutting their strong performances in the early lifespan of most games, their more recent losses have taken a toll on their disposition.
Super Smash Bros. Community
Despite not being a fighting game by conventional meanings, it has a large overlap with the FGC. Between accusations of sexual harassment and pedophilia on top of regular instances of suicide threats and infighting, this community brings its own take on drama. The verified complaints of its members' poor hygiene and their insistence on watching the same ten people play a twenty year old game on outdated televisions before going over schedule doesn't help, either.

I dont have much to add but I think this page looks great so far! we definitely need this thread because FGC autism keeps showing up with lolcows like DSP. what do you think it is that makes fighting games so toxic? is it celebrity worship or are they just too big?

At the moment, I feel like this thread would fit better in the general games section, though I figure the intent is to have it be more geared around community watch drama. That’s at least what I’m currently leaning toward, though I’ll letcha keep developing this and we’ll see where it ends up.

It's the amount of autism you will see in any form of E-Sports, a bunch of manchildren donning some Monster Energy gear and behind the scenes are terrible shitheels at best.

I am not big into fighting games so never really followed them but the FGC sure as hell has been popping up on my radar a lot lately, It seems to of had this shift from where it was just Ghetto black people and Twinky Asian bois to a social justice take over that is now about inclusivity.
I keep seeing people now bitching about Anime titties are bad and gate keep and how there is NO PLACE for biggots, every major person pushing this have that foot fetish "HEH GAMERS" attitude that spawned from places like Resetera and former goon youtubers.

This guy in Particular is an absolute foot worshipping turtle.

this would fit better in community watch tbh than games.

but, overall, i like this thread. i think if people are interested in helping, they should look at some portion of the sonicfox thread to see where fgc is transitioning towards in regards of the organization's behaviors and such.

obligatory watching
Yes, I remember this. This was, I believe, the girlfriend of the guy who lost grabbing the guy who beat him in the game. She tried claiming that he grabbed her up until this video came out. If I find the screencaps for this, I'll be certain to post it here. Better context and documentation of these things it the big goal of this thread.

If I do wind up finding the screencaps, I'll also be certain to host a mirror of the video here, as well.

The idea is a bit more like the community watch, yes. Time will tell if this has a chance to develop into something more meaningful, because as of right now most of the information is fairly sparse and limited to only involve the people of the FGC who already have threads.

This might be something personal, but for what it's worth, and to shoot the shit around, major props to Maximillion Dood for ruining the Street Fighter EX+a soundtrack (and one of its best songs by the way), and to the kind of douchebag crowd that he attracts and helps make the fighting video game community be painted as. Maybe it's me, but his "mature and sane image" comes off to me as a peckerwood ass hipster douchebag who has no love for anything that helped to make fighting video games where it is today, especially the anime and manga inspired visuals and direction that defined the fusion entertainment style of 1990s video games from Japan.

Of course, I've probably answered my own question; the guy IS an ad rev drip sucking Youtuber and glorified mouthpiece who makes the most unwarranted self important FM radio DJs look quaint, and before I get called out as some "stupid weeaboo who is angry that he makes fun of my animes", there's only one man of a similar vein who I have respect for but is more accomplished, and isn't as fatheaded and as self important as him. I refuse to give out the name of the guy and his website because I respect him that much, and he's been around longer than Max. If anything he doesn't deserve to be on here.

Oh, and Max also was said to have started a GoFundMe scam.

I'm just gonna leave this here, just venting steam out my yin yang. I do like this thread. Go for it.

You should take some meds for your verbal diarrhea.

I and a few others were working on a fighting game thread a long time ago but it never came to fruition. Glad to see someone's finally brought it together!

Current lolcows who have their own threads who are or were part of the FGC:

DarkSydePhil (DSP)
LowTierGod
SonicFox

A prime source for content tends to be the subreddit /r/Kappa where they post a lot of the drama that happens in the FGC. The current cancellation waves focusing on Filipino Champ and more notably Chris G might be worth looking into for content.

Prime candidates for awful takes, ridiculous tweets and general cuckery go to David "UltraDavid" Graham and James Chen. Their twitters are regularly filled with ludicrous statements.

I am not big into fighting games so never really followed them but the FGC sure as hell has been popping up on my radar a lot lately, It seems to of had this shift from where it was just Ghetto black people and Twinky Asian bois to a social justice take over that is now about inclusivity.

This guy also had this funny little diddy show up:

xuandou.png

He went on to vehemently deny this except for the Steam names because that can't be plausibly denied, but nobody seems to really believe him.

The next level of Mike Z drama also just began with one of his former co-workers called Beezul being angry that Mike Z apparently described him as looking like a thug, and claimed that people aren't concerned if a muscly, bald white man with tattoos runs towards them at night but only when poor latinos like himself do. Yes, literally.

After working overtime to try and jump on the cancel Mike Z train, he seems to have remembered there being a "rumour" about him assaulting women as well as video evidence of him being verbally abusive at the workplace and decided to get out ahead of it by saying it's all #FakeNews as can be seen here.

I have a pretty good handle on FGC history in general since I've been tangentially a part of it for many years so feel free to DM me if you're curious about any person or event in particular and I might be able to help out with the OP.

Mike Z is in hot water? Someone let Yanderedev know so he can begin gravedancing.

I know its contentious in the FGC, but one of my personal favorites from /v/ browsing was when Smash fags were outed as unhygenic (archive).

Like any sport or hobby there are going to be people who take it too seriously and get swept up with being better than the rest. I can't think of the cow off the top of my head but he's into the DBZ fighting games and makes fanfics of his OC getting all the girls from the show, but he's notorious for leaving games he's about to lose because a lot of these games don't punish early leavers. Basically leaving early does not hurt your score or record the match as a loss so you'll see people with huge win rates that actually leave a majority of their games early.
