That zeebul guy sounds like a massive fruit, and I am Surprised Alex wasn't fired by MikeZ, but by these faggy "literally shaking" types. Although now it makes sense why Mike seemed to lean more towards the woke side after the PC release of skullgirls.
Be as it may, that game had other problems too, like how the voice acting is fucking atrocious... like fucking "Freedom Planet" bad.
The difference being that freedom planet got far less money via crowdfunding.

In an online SFV tournament against between two players, "Punk" and Alex Myers, Punk lost due to a lag spike in the game. The reason the game had said lag spike was because SFV's netcode is made by neanderthals, so if you mash a ton of buttons despite the game only acting off of a single input, the game stops to catch up to all the inputs made. For the winning blow, Alex accidentally caused a lagspike as he mashed buttons to get up from knockdown faster. As shown in this video Punk made to support his claim Alex is doing it intentionally, Punk unwittingly demonstrates that Alex mashing on knockdown is just a bad habit.

In response, Punk had a section of his stream dedicated to complaining about Alex supposedly knowingly abusing the system, rather than it being just SFV's netcode is awful.

In response to his response, Capcom opted to force him to always start in loser's bracket rather than ban him since nobody plays SFV anymore and they'd otherwise be losing one of like three people who actually do.

In my opinion, Punk has every right to complain about the netcode, but it's the wrong approach to believe Alex mashed buttons maliciously to cheat. Capcom is very much in the wrong here, though. Even if they reduced their tournament ban to just forcing him to start in loser's, this reaction is clearly Capcom trying to sweep their game's online being bad under the rug.

It's like I said before, every company that has a fighting game take part in this online Corona tourny could have taken all that time to work on the netcode to improve it so that exact shit like this would not happen.

At the same time, in a way this doesn't surprise me. SFV has been POORLY handled since it's beginnings, and no matter how "better" it's gotten, the team behind it still continue to be as inept as ever with it.

Lab Zero is currently imploding in on itself and Skullgirls is fucking dead. Mike Z got his final cancellation today, with employees leaving the company.
This is from Brian Jun, EU03, one of Lab Zero's founding members aside from the main trio.

TL;DR -- After the BunnyAyu shit, Lab Zero's "board of directors" (which likely included Mariel Cartwright and Jun himself) tried to oust Mike. Mike at first agreed, but only if they paid him a large severance check and/or likely gave him rights to the Skullgirls engine.

Of course, Lab Zero is a fucking financial shitshow of a company, so of course, they couldn't pay him. So Mike decided that he would stay.

Better yet, the "board of directors" is full of such fucking smoothbrained morons that they ACTUALLY thought it was a good idea to fucking give Mike the power to fire all of them.

They basically went "Hey, hold the company real quick for us while we draft up the paperwork to get you fired."
and then Mike went "lul thanks dumbass, you're all fired, get fucked faggot now I'm Lab Zero games".

This is from a member who did stuff for Lab Zero but left after the Ayu shit.
They even gave the reason for why Alex Ahad, the main artist, was fired. It wasn't Mike Z who did it, even though people suspected it was him. It was the same people who tried to oust Mike Z who fired Ahad.

Alex sued for wrongful termination and got a fuckton of money. This definitely must've shot a massive hole through the already financially sinking ship that Lab Zero is.
However, the same sentiment that Alex is a douche isn't shared by all of the members (though this one is a contractor (and a major sperg))

"Hostile" is a common term used in every one of these "Fuck Mike Z, I'm leaving Lab Zero" posts.
From what I see, "hostility" to these spineless faggots is being told "no" or having disagreements with someone, like in the case with Alex.

He was clearly very protective of the Indivisible concept as rumors said, and of course was hesitant to change anything about it since it was basically his 2nd passion pet project so they terminated him. And, of course, removing him from the project is what lead us to getting the utter borefest that Indivisible is today. Gee, who would've guessed!

With Mike, it's him being a picky autistic fuck who was really choosy as to what he added or didn't add to the engine. Nice that @necrosofty admitted that he and others were so pussy they needed to talk shit on him in the DMs since they couldn't confront him meaningfully.
In other cases, like that of Beezul and his crazy fucking rant over Mike Z, "hostility" means "he made jokes that made me feel uncomfy" meanwhile Beezul himself admitted to wanting to hit Z several times for his bad jokes.

Now you may be asking what Mariel's doing right now?
She's on the side of the people against Mike Z, liking posts about how awful he is and why people quit. Like these.

I expect her to make a tweet on this eventually.

Even one of the two original "accusers", Carbonbae, came out of the woodwork to accuse Mike of even worse shit that she for some reason didn't say before when she accused him the first time.
I don't even know or care who this fucking cunt is or why she keeps shoving her dumb fat mouth into this either:

i know she's a TO or something but holy shit shut the fuck up

Mike clearly wanted to kill Lab Zero after this mutiny happened one way or the other. Either he left and took a sizeable chunk of money from them along with the rights to the Skullgirls engine, from a game which is Lab Zero's only viable way of making money nowadays, OR, he stays and the people against him leave, the people against him being almost entirely comprised of the company's artists.
Regardless, the company was deep in shit creek as soon as Bunny cried harassment after starting her cringy DM conversation with Mike.

TL;DR -- Skullgirls is a fucking cursed game with incompetent management and a creative team full of backstabbing snakes.
TL;DR;DR -- Never, EVER get involved with cosplay thots
TL;DR;DR;DR -- YandereDev is happy.

Worst possible ending: Mike Z Holowka's himself and every snake pretends to cry in sympathy.
Best possible ending: Sonicfox necks himself over all of this.

Personally, I wish I could try and get my boss ousted/fired for being an assertive/aggressive dick. If only jobs worked that way in real life.

And damn, who would've thought making an indie game company comprised almost entirely of porn artists and Tumblr users would end badly?

@Y2K Baby must be devastated.

I already disliked MikeZ and most of Lab Zero save for Alex Ahad because they never finishing the rest of the Skullgirls cast as proposed even after the Kickstarter, and just ended up making some insider joke characters like Fukua and Robo-Fortune because it was easier, and then just rushed into Indivisible which we all know is a trainwreck of a game.
Now I'll never get my girlfriend Venus Lovelace to be playable. *sigh*

I love how thoroughly planned this mass callout shit was. Totally not suspicious either. Everyones reasons for leaving range from "Giving the entire company to the hands of one retard was a poor idea" which is you know, reasonable to be upset about of course, but it's mostly shit like "He made a joke about George Floyd on stream and I just can't forgive that" or "He talked about his dick omfg".
Like you wanted a slice of the callout as well but you couldn't think of anything actually meaningful to say. At least the ProJared callouts over being a sex pest was funnier and crazier, there's nothing funny about a socially stunted man who can't into business.

LabZero was a mistake, everyone involved is retarded, and Alex should have stuck with that Fighter Maker version of the game after all.

I don't know too much about Lab Zero but from what I'm told, Mike Z is like an FGC John Carmack in terms of coding ability and the people who are upset and bailing are mostly artists. People who are willing to code fighting games to the extent Mike Z has are few and far between, but artists and animators are a dime a dozen, so ultimately the people leaving are replaceable as far as I can see. This fiasco might hurt his reputation, but I doubt that will dissuade people who care about a paycheck more than drama.

Skull girls is what it is because of its art and animation

That would be a fine conclusion if Lab Zero were in good financial standing. As it is, they made one successful game eight years ago, re-released it to fairly lukewarm sales a couple of times since, and their second game flopped. Even Skullgirls lost its big chance to shine when EVO fell apart. The company is not going to go anywhere without investors or serious crowdfunding, and Mike Z's name is now toxic.

Ah, welp, rip in fucking pieces, the final nail in the Skullgirls coffin was just put in a few hours ago.
Kinuko, lead animator, left. And so did Personasama.

Poignant paragraph:
1598321825484.png

Personasama, another animator and big figure at Lab Zero, left as well.
1598321138367.png

1598321239685.png

1598321253799.png
The difference between the above two allegations versus every single allegation that has come out before is that at the very least Kinuko and Personasama gave specific examples of Mike misbehaving.

A juicier tidbit is that Lab Zero employees have been buzzing around /v/ and /vg/ like flies and hinted at the shit Mariel exposed in her post HOURS BEFORE she made her post, like the thing with Mike asking Mariel for sex while at Reverge.
1598321524978.png

Allegedly Mike's a cuck and that's why he became an outwardly horny autist.
Whether this is Mariel herself or any of the other Lab Zero employees posting and occupying /v/ threads shitting on both Alex and Mike, who knows.

All there is to wait for is Mike Z's response. That is, if he ever makes one.
It's such a shame that game is so cursed. SG 1v1 is one of the most fun fighting games out there I find, my brain is too smooth to really grasp defending against team setups. Mike Z is a mega talented programmer, and Alex Ahad had a truly unique vision and a love for big ol' anime tiddies. Lab Zero may have to burn in today's puritan world, but I think there was real talent lost in this whole kerfuffle. Maybe somehow they come out of this the other side less pozzed and restricted...but probably not. Rip FGC some more.
If you bend the knee, you get executed.

It's sad to see a good fighting game go, but I was wary of SG since the censorship happened in the first place. I look forward to when more "allies" in the FGC get the blade.
Any version of a Skullgirls 2 made by the current (or I guess now former) Lab Zero team was doomed to be pozzed without Alex around anyway.

Skull girls is what it is because of its art and animation
Very true, but there's people who both can replicate Skullgirls art and an even bigger horde of people who would kill to be paid to undergo a project to animate like Skullgirls. On the other hand, you could probably count the number of people who are willing to code a fighting game as Mike Z had on one hand.

Thats definitely the only reason I know about it.
It was also the biggest example of 'why the fuck does this indie trash have all these features but the big games don't?'

Rollback, hitbox viewer, etc. Skullgirls was the first small fighter to put all the big boys to shame feature-wise. Even today most AAA fighters feel like a shit product compared to it.

I first learned about it from the big anime tiddies, but the tech and love and care and quality-of-life features that game has is second to none. Easy inputs but incredibly demanding decision making, PBGC, alpha-countering xx invincible move xx safe dhc etc, characters that have billions of unique approaches to neutral, etc etc. The game is expertly crafted in a way that other games simply have never achieved. The netcode is second-to-none, I can play people in foreign countries better than I can play people in the adjacent state in SFV. Features like doing half-circles for a fireball motion to 100% guarantee no shoryu input if you are walking forward, dive kicks having a floor that will delay the input until then if you want to early divekick, absolute guard to deal with high-low unblockables a-la marvel 2, the list goes on.

It's a shame Skullgirls is sadly mired in so much controversy and CURSES that this game should take a dump on any other fighting game out there in terms of what it offers, but people will only think about it as that perverted game with the autistic developer and they never gave the game a chance. All other companies should be put to shame for how many features this game has over theirs too, and how much was added to the game for how many problems and how little money the studio had.

If anyone is interested in the history of JUST HOW CURSED THIS GAME IS, here's an hour long youtube video that covers up to 2017.
