I think smaller local scenes will come out relatively unscathed, but the major e-sports scene is tainted now. Fighting games were already struggling to find ground in e-sports, and now that dream might be dead with sponsors not wanting to be involved.

The sad thing is that Fire Emblem didn't always have this issue with 1000 year old loli shit. In the older games, you had manakeets (the name for the long lived dragon/human creatures) but before Fire Emblem: Awakening they were all either grown ass adults or looked and ACTED like kids, like Fae, Myrrh, or Tiki.

Now not only do you have trash like Nowi, but you also have characters like Nyx whos entire schtick is being an adult in a child's body.

But there was a time in which the culture surrounding games was fun and it was fun to call yourself a gamer, but the culture got completely fucked in the ass by SJWs and now there's only the games themselves.

But as others have pointed out, for fighting games themselves that's probably a good thing and also hopefully there will still be local contests, like what it was in the 1990s and 2000s.

She looks about the same age as her mom but is actually much younger in real years, which is definitely weird. Also, you could alternatively be her father if you married the older one. Awakening is a really weird game, time travel shenanigans always cause stuff like that.

The problem with fighting games is that so few people play them that you have to make it a part of your identity just to find others to play with, especially if you're into more obscure games.

The other problem is that society's kinda not the 1980s or the 1990s anymore where people have the time to spend on investing in video games, and then there's the whole mentality out west here, what not with one game occupying the throne at a time and "investing time into things is a joke". The latter is something I can agree on, you're best off working on video games to evolve the fighting game genre or practicing actual martial arts than being an "e-sports fighting game athlete". Don't these guys also see what happens to some sports stars when fame gets the best of them?
