Final Fantasy XIV Community - Japanese MMO infested with trannies, gooners, and pedophiles

I feel like I'm playing a completely different game because I've been a female viera for 5 years and I've only gotten weird DMs once or twice. It's probably because I avoid Limsa like the plague though.

Primal has its faggots too. The Jades (a multiboxer who has an army of alts that shit up areas, apparently a drama whore), Weeaboo Police (multiboxer serial racist and political shitstirrer. Crowds slutmog players with his max height Roegadyn), and Clyde Vox (slutmog Hrothgar who dances in Limsa all day every day. He is every Hrothgar stereotype under the sun) all being from the server I play on. But it's all concentrated in a handful of weirdos rather than being virulent like it is on Crystal.
Oh absolutely. I've seen a bunch of Weeaboo Police accounts shitting up a certain area in Coerthas Highlands in my server. Glad I could hide those annoying fucks now.

Have not been considered a grooming target by a troon for any reason unlike everyone else seems to be in this thread though. I'll consider that a blessing.

I'm gonna go on a bit of a spergy rant here because honestly I was hoping a thread like this was made so feel free to throw them top hats. Yet, I believe this is in topic with the thread; I genuinely dislike this game. I gave it a fair shake and at least finished some expansions but the way it pretends to be an MMO while just being a retarded single player instanced game always irked me, the story being so god damn boring and translated in that pretentious "Ye olde" english (Which might sound a bit weeb-ish of me to say doesn't even match the original lines) with such an awful voice cast that the community SWEARS are excellent because they've played in boring British stage plays, and the community either filled with weirdos or the insufferable cunts who left WoW and plagued this game.

The reason I believe this is in topic with the thread is because whenever you give a negative opinion about the game to a XIV player (no matter how slight it is) they become one of the most insufferable pieces of fucking shit you've ever met, SWEARING that the boring story of XIV is "absolute cinema you just gotta get to the good part which is like 7 expansions in I promise" and that the game is so well designed and WAY BETTER than ANY of it's competition including the pioneer of good MMO design WoW despite being instanced, the world feeling incredibly empty (given that the social aspect is mostly ERPing or being a sweaty tryhard) and not being fun to explore due to all the fucking railroads and invisible walls the game throws at you, the fact that to unlock BASIC FUCKING FEATURES LIKE AN OPTION MENU you need to progress on the main questline (which is the most retarded game design choice I've ever seen a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE ROLEPLAYING GAME take) and the fact that literally none of the aspects that makes MMOs be fun to play are there and if they are (such as gear) they're absolutely irrelevant and hold no impact into the game's content.

It still baffles me this game gets people to play it and it's even more shocking to me that the community claims it's better than WoW in every way. Lemme tell you this, I can acknowledge blizzard is a terrible company nowadays and many of the recent expansions such as WoD, BoFA and Shadowlands were terrible, but at least those games let me explore the fucking game and play it how I wanted it rather than be taken on a tour by a catgirl and a midget while being told I am "the chosen one".

for me the witcher 3 and baldur's gate 3, or even the Resident Evil 4 or Final Fantasy 7 remakes really ruined games where you get boring ass unvoiced walls of text thrown at you, i dont think i ever read the dialogue in this game and i had someone go crazy at me when i told them i didnt like the story, if i have to immagine the story all the time why cant they just immagine making a good game?

sometimes i just like my dumb pop corn tier cutscenes, i feel like im reading a bunch of long winded high school essays instead, padded with empty ass words to give the illusion that there's more to it

i didnt understand any of the dialogue and to me it was just words words words, it felt like the game was punishing me for not being obsessed with Final Fantasy, and i just find the writing so long winded and bland, i tried to read it once and they were saying the most basic things in the most obtuse way possible, but all i was doing was delivering cookies and somehow they managed to make that sound boring

and its not like i shit all over it, i just said i dont vibe with it but i do enjoy other parts of the game and this person looked at me like i committed the worst sin ever, people are straight up fanatical about this game, if you stick to the free trial you will get so many people who will tell you that you will get addicted to it eventually, but all i want to do is just run around and explore, the gameplay is awful, the story is terrible, the quests are just as bad as your average free to play mmo game

this game is also plagued with weirdos and square enix will not hesitate to ruin your account forever if people mass report you for any reason, i think everyone takes this game way too seriously, the emotes are really fun at least

the fact that to unlock BASIC FUCKING FEATURES LIKE AN OPTION MENU you need to progress on the main questline
I'm honestly confused as to what it is you're referring to here.

I agree with you that the folks who Stan the fuck out of this game are mentally unwell -- the story is good, not great, and certainly not the 'bestest story evaaaaaar!' like some of these retards put up. There's major issues with the gameplay (netcode, snapshotting, GCDs, etc.), etc.

The game isn't without warts, but I do prefer it over WoW because it doesn't have the continual, lifeless grind and there's other shit to do beyond just multiman raiding. (Plus, if XIV's story is good for an MMO, Warcraft's is, at this point, complete and utter shite.)

You're getting very different experiences with both games and I do dislike that the casual element with 14 is causing it to very slowly morph into Second Life's Final Form. But I absolutely get the general criticisms.

I'm honestly confused as to what it is you're referring to here.
They hide Glamours/Transmog behind a level 15 quest and require you to make items to do it, and it used to be gated behind a level 50 quest that required the Main Storyline to be completed apparently.

That is motherfucking insane and in Warcraft did that when they introduced Transmoging people NEVER would be bitching about it to this day.

Part of the reason I even click on this thread was to see if the undeserved dickriding this game gets will show up at some point because I recently started playing it and holy fucking hell it does not fucking deserve the praise it gets.

Nah, XIV is shit. I don't reccomend getting into it unless you have a lot of free time and you're willing to deal with retards.
the world feeling incredibly empty
Part of the reason for this is YoshiP refusing to tell CBU3 to make non-starting City States' Aetherytes able to allow you to World Jump. If they did, then Kugane, the Crystarium, and Sharlayan would be a lot more active.
to unlock BASIC FUCKING FEATURES LIKE AN OPTION MENU you need to progress on the main questline
ARR is the most dated MMO that's still in commission.
They at least tried to make it make sense.

You can't go to the Inn because you're still exploring the area without the City-State.
Party Finder is only unlocked after beating the first dungeon. If it were up to me, Party Finder would be unlocked first. But Party Finder got added in 2.1 and CBU3 are retarded.
You can only hire Retainers after PRAY RETURN TO THE WAKING SANDS because reasons. Since 1.0 is lost media, I can't check if this is changed from then.
You can only join a Grand Company after proving yourself by killing a primal, because you're being fast-tracked into their ranks instead of having to go through a long process.
You can only hire your own Chocobo after joining a Grand Company because pfft, you don't have enough gil to do that yourself. Nevermind the fact that Basic Economics means the cheapest mount on the Market Board is less than 10k gil.
You can only obtain Job Stones after Sylph-Managment. Because reasons. You didn't even have to originally do this, it got changed in 2.41.
The Challenge Log can only be unlocked via a sidequest after getting through the 15 level long slog of pre-dungeon MSQ.
Related, the Aesthetician can also only be unlocked via a sidequest after this.
As well as the Gold Saucer.
Dying and Glamouring items both require doing sidequests. In 4.1 they added a quest in Western Thanalan to do the same thing, and you only need to be level 15 now.
You unlock the Hunting Log by doing the level 1 quest for your starting job. It's somehow full of every class's logs.
You're only able to obtain other classes after doing the level 10 class quest. Why is it level 10 specifically? No clue. Level 30 would actually be more fitting since you've finished the class quest story.
You can only unlock Guildhests after doing Levequests because reasons.
You can only unlock the Sightseeing Log through a sidequest after completing Sylph-Management. You then unlock each new area's vistas through single-dialogue quests, including the other three quarters of the ARR ones. (I'll admit it's funny that with the exception of the ShB ones, the NPCs are all related.)
You can only unlock Palace of the Dead after clearing the third dungeon. Why? Because this is the last time that the worst Conjurer in existence, Edda Blackbosom, shows up in the MSQ.
You can only unlock Heaven on High and Eureka Orthos after clearing the first 50 floors of Palace of the Dead. Why? Fuck if I know.
You can only unlock "Allied Society" quests after:
ARR: Clearing the Stone Vigil in the MSQ, then doing their respective quest. Worth noting that these are the only one where you don't immediately go up to them and say hi.
HW (Vath/Vanu): Kill their primal in the MSQ, then pick up a blue quest.
HW (Moogles); The most cancerous sidequest chain in the entire game. Also level 56 MSQ.
SB (Kojin): Kill their primal in the MSQ, then pick up a blue quest.
SB (Ananta): Kill their primal in the MSQ AND do a long sidequest chain.
SB (Namazu): Do a long sidequest chain after getting to Yanxia.
ShB (Pixies): Killing their... primal? I think that's a primal.
ShB (Qitari): Do two sidequest chains, then pick up the blue quest.
ShB (Dwarves): Do two sidequest chains, then pick up a blue quest. This isn't obtainable until you're able to access the upper half of Kholusia.
EW (Arkasodara/Loporrits): Clear the MSQ, and do a small quest chain. Longer for the Arkasodara.
EW (Omicron): Clear the MSQ, and clear one of the two optional dungeons.
PVP is unlocked after you join your Grand Company and do a sidequest because it's training or some shit. Nevermind that the actions are all completely different now.
The Hunt is unlocked through a sidequest after you're second Lieutenant in your grand company. Do you have to do anything remotely like this for unlocking HW and later ones? Nope!
Player Housing (Actual houses, not Apartments) is unlocked after you're second Lieutenant as well. Also you need to be level 50 in at least one job.
Free Companies don't have the same restriction on housing, you only need to be level 25 and have 3 other players in the company with you. Iirc you don't even need to have joined one of the Grand Companies yet.
Flight is unlocked in ARR areas after completing the MSQ, but every other area requires you to get each zone's Aether Currents first. It didn't use to be like this, before 5.3 you couldn't fly in any ARR zone and you had to complete "I Believe I Can Fly" to be able to fly with any mount other than the Black Chocobo that you're given in Ishgard.
The Raid Series in each expansion, the alliance raids, and all optional and extreme trials, are only unlockable after beating the x.0 MSQ. In Shadowbringers' case, you need to do more than that.
You're unable to dive until you do some of Stormblood's MSQ.
If you overlevel a job, haha wait till you've finished the x.55 MSQ because you have to get into the next expansion to do its quests.
Three of the jobs are locked behind getting to Ishgard, btw.
Empyreum, and by extension the Firmament and the Diadem, are locked behind the first half of post-heavensward.
Heavensward (Hinterlands), Stormblood, and Shadowbringers zones are arbitrarily blocked off until you've completed enough MSQ for you to have a reason to go there. This goes double in Yanxia where an entire half of the zone is walled off until later.
Being able to attune to the aetheryte in Shadowbringers and Endwalker's minor cities is arbitrarily locked until later in the story. Shadowbringers at least has the excuse of having the fattest evilest bastard in the world not letting you attune to it?
Oh, and if you're driven enough to get maxed Shared FATE rank in all zones? Nope, you still have to complete the MSQ to be able to unlock the vendors in the Major and Minor city. Dawntrail doesn't have the excuse of "YOU ARE ABOUT TO DIE OF SOUL RABIES" or "THE WORLD IS ENDING RIGHT NOW".
I'm honestly confused as to what it is you're referring to here.
There are NINE HUNDRED AND TEN Feature (Blue) quests.
Only around 30 of them are mutually exclusive. Everything else is required at some point to unlock something, whether that be a new aether current, tribal quests, a special emote, a new duty, or a basic game mechanic like being able to fight a training dummy.

There's major issues with the gameplay (netcode, snapshotting, GCDs, etc.),
The GCBTW being full of singlepulling tanks, curebot healers, prog liars, and other assorted toxic casuals and their whiteknights, people who think they own certain content, etc - And the Blacklist doesn't stop them from showing up in your Duty Finder duties.

They hide Glamours/Transmog behind a level 15 quest and require you to make items to do it,
If you're talking about needing to craft an item to do the quest, you don't anymore. If you're talking about the catalysts, Glamour Prisms are cheap as shit these days now that (in 4.2) it's all the same kind of prism and you can buy them for only 200 Company Seals. As opposed to having to craft them all from a Master Recipe book, with a Clear Prism and 2 of a different item dependent on crafting class. Per item.

Yes, you do. I just went through it a week ago

You mean faction currency? The stuff i needed to spend to continue the main plot?

That is still horseshit that people would have a meltdown if WoW did it that way, but the tranny catgirl bandwagon gets a pass.

I was referring to needing an item for the quest, not that the quest doesn't exist anymore. Edited to clarify.

You need 200 Company Seals (Used to be 2000. In 5.3 it got decreased to 200 but was also made mandatory.) to get the Chocobo Issuance. This is the only time that company seal purchases are mandatory for the main scenario.
You get 300 from doing the main scenario quest immediately after joining a Grand Company, and 1438 for unlocking PvP. This isn't to mention the Grand Company Hunting Log that gives seals instead of EXP for its targets.

Glamour Prims go for less than 200 gil on most servers' market boards.
The way that this system is a hindrance is if you're on the free trial and so can't access the market board, are too early into the game to be able to farm seals efficiently, and have already used up the twelve Prisms you got given for free.
people would have a meltdown if WoW did it that way, but the tranny catgirl bandwagon gets a pass.
You're forgetting that in WoW, you have to be at a specific NPC in a town in order to transmog, and have to pay the vendor value of items in order to transmog them. You don't in XIV, meaning if you're fine with having one of your 210 inventory slots filled with Prisms, this is more convenient for any item with a vendor price of over 200 Gil. (IL60+ Weapons, IL 80+ Armor, and IL90+ Accessories).

Of which there is one in every major capital. (I am ignoring the mount for this discussion because while not expensive its not super cheap)

and have to pay the vendor value of items in order to transmog them.
which is a very pitiful amount, and isn't a resource you can also use to purchase gear upgrades, and quite frankly I would be 100% okay with Warcraft Making Transmogs completely free.

Glamour Prims go for less than 200 gil on most servers' market boards.
which you can't access on a trial account, if they are going to have this shit every single Tranny Cat Shopkeep NPC needs to sell it for a fucking gil.

Nothing like junk taking up your bag space.

I was referring to needing an item for the quest, not that the quest doesn't exist anymore. Edited to clarify.
The fact that the quest exists at all is fucking trash. Gating changing your cosmetics behind a quest* is retarded, and that is not even mentioning whatever the fuck is up with Dyes..I looked up the color I wanted and it was rep gated behind some retard rep that I can't even unlock yet. Being able to color your gear is something the absolute retards at NCsoft and Cryptic figured out in 2004.

Now I can't bitch at FF14 TOO much because you can change colors..with another item, I will shit on WoW for not letting things be color changed all day..but holy fuck FF14 managed to do the correct things in the worst god damn ways.

*It's also super retarded that this quest isn't in the main cities and is in some ass end of one of the zones. I know that this is the super duper special retard club base town but you don't get the ability to go there easily until like 5 levels after you can pick up the quest for Glamors at all.

which you can't access on a trial account
The game is not designed for trial players. Ultimate Raids being arbitrarily inacessible shows this.
Nothing like junk taking up your bag space.
Unless you're a crafter, you don't really need that much space. All of your gear goes in your Armory Chest, which has 35 slots for each armor type/offhands and accessories, 50 for weapons and rings. If you really like the look of a piece of gear, you put it in one of the Glamour Dresser's 800 spots.

3 spots for potions, 2 for food, 3 for totems because you don't want to do an EX trial more than 100 times for a mount, 1 for Aetheryte Tickets, like 6 for Materia, and 7 for Savage Books/Tome Upgrade items, plus one or two for Squadron Manuals. Add on 5 bait spots if you're a fisher, 1-3 DD Potions if you do Deep Dungeons, and 4-6 spots if you're doing a relic.
If you're a hardcore crafter, you likely pay a sub (and so have at least another 350 inventory spaces) so that you can make gil from it, since without a house to furnish, the only things a trial player can craft that's useful for them is ARR Relic crafts, and farming purple scrip to speed up the acquisition of an Anima relic. Or very slowly farming Skybuilders' Scrip in the Firmament/Diadem.

Everything beyond that is optional. The vast majority of items in this game are vendor trash or become that after a few patches, unless it's needed to craft current items or otherwise popular items, or has a niche use like being needed for old Ultimate/Criterion Savage BiS sets.

I looked up the color I wanted and it was rep gated behind some retard rep that I can't even unlock yet
Had to re-check the wiki for this. I thought that the rep dyes were also craftable, but it's just the Ixali ones that are. There are also 9 dyes locked behind the Firmament and/or Island Sanctuary. (Also Fall Guys.)

mentioning whatever the fuck is up with Dyes
Insert joke about second dye channels here.
Nevermind the fact that there are actually up to 16 or even more colour channels on a lot of items that modders have found in the files and use through Penumbra/Glamourer.
Insert joke about Viera and Hrothgar Hats here.

I'm honestly confused as to what it is you're referring to here.
I think a lot of people eloquently put to what I refer. The fact that several basic features are locked behind MSQ is not a new concept and pretending that they're not is just being either purposefully retarded or dickridingly ignorant.
it doesn't have the continual, lifeless grind and there's other shit to do beyond just multiman raiding.
Until it does with the "Leveling raids" that you have to do in order to access more parts of the "story" because you're under leveled, and god forbid if you wanna take up another class which means you have to level up all over again and go through the lifeless grind. Pretending that the multiman raiding and the grind is the only thing WoW gives you to do is a very retarded point? The game throws you in and tells you to play it, it doesn't throw you on a retarded main questline tour. And guess what, you can PLAY it. No invisible walls, no railroads, no basic features locked behind a questline, you've got everything at your disposal (except chatting but that unlocks when you're lvl 10 so that's whatever). You can go to other zones, you can explore at your leisure, bask in the world, go into fun side quests, get professions that aren't "classes" you need to do level up raids for but instead level up through WORLD EXPLORATION (Which is great game design in my opinion), and there used to be a very healthy social aspect before the raid andys shit up the game from Cata upwards (It can be argued that WoTLK had this start because MUH GEARSCORE but the community was still kinda healthy at that point either way)
(Plus, if XIV's story is good for an MMO, Warcraft's is, at this point, complete and utter shite.)
This is the point I'm going to concede. While I disagree about the story being good, no it's garbage like other Final Fantasies of the time, WoW didn't do itself any favors. The story peaked on WoTLK, then cataclysm was a bit confused and then it nosedived when Pandaria came along.

The game is not designed for trial players. Ultimate Raids being arbitrarily inacessible shows this.
Locking basic cosmetic shit behind buying the game is asinine, especially when you can play the vast majority of everything.

Unless you're a crafter, you don't really need that much space.
I shit on WOW design for needless crap taking up bagspace, I am gonna do it to FF4.
then it nosedived when Pandaria came along.
Bullshit, Pandaria is on par with WOTLK.

(Plus, if XIV's story is good for an MMO)
It is barely passable from what I have seen so far, and that is ignoring the fact that Final Fantasy 14 is part of the Final Fantasy franchise and they made the traditionally helpful characters like Ifrit and Ramuah into antagonists.

One that you fight at Level 20...as your first major boss.

Oh except you didn't actually fight him and it was some half summoned avatar of Ifrit who is SUPER DUPER POWERFUL we promise, which is a thing even the Warcraft writers said was retarded when asked about the Old Gods still being alive.

Anyways enough sperging about the game itself and another game.

hate-boner against
How can Trannies have a boner..they cut off their dick.
