Final Fantasy XIV Community - Japanese MMO infested with trannies, gooners, and pedophiles

People have been MATI for days on end about a racist Ishgardian RP venue. I don't have nearly enough time to document everything but the guy in charge of it has deleted his character at this point so it's time for another controversy:

Trans women are dying in Palestine?? So we're just spouting absolute nonsense at this point to try and deflect.

Last time I checked, some of the trending tags are at least partially based on your own analytics, so most times when the NSFW XIV tag goes trending, it's because a user's personal analytics already think, "Hey, this is clearly something this person wants to see," so it's not like it'll track too far outside those circles.

On the other hand, making a post in which you use the Lovense hashtag while clearly advertising for a Lovense product, regardless of whether or not you cut a deal with the company or you're making money off of this "for fun" post, is still likely to gain more eyes on it than just the usual NSFW tags. Not to mention all the particulars in which you do acknowledge you didn't actually know the ToS or that you were egregiously breaking them with every last facet of this whole arrangement in the first place.

I don't think this person really understands where they went wrong here. I think the only thing that spooked them into backtracking is the realization that they COULD face legal action, not even considering in the least the fact that they've continued tempting an outright "zero tolerance" policy for modding with this business. And, unfortunately, it seems like most of their sycophants are similarly inclined towards the same school of thought after perusing the responses from others.

I really don't like this playerbase sometimes.

"zero tolerance" policy for modding
Did anyone actually get banned over the billboard?

This tranny (I’m assuming but am probably right)
That assumption's all we've got. I wasn't able to find any mentioning of the term trans from or to that account, and they have good enough opsec for me to not find out anything from a quick search.

No, but, as I recall, it did make Yoshida put out a statement basically saying "We know you people mod and that you make sex mods on top of this, but we would really appreciate it if you didn't draw so much attention to this as it creates brand recognition problems for our game." The "zero tolerance" policy aspect comes with the implication that the devs might just decide to completely disallow mods and institute measures, possibly along the lines of anti-cheats and file integrity checkers, in order to stop everyone from using mods going forward, and I'm sure its implementation would be quite disruptive for the average player in some aspects (especially seeing how similar systems in other games have caused issues in the past).

Bans probably aren't off the table either, but I think the last thing most people want is for XIV to have DRM of that nature all because modders couldn't stop being stupid and attention-seeking with their "self-expression".

brand recognition problems
this is blatant projection on yoshida's part, "oh we have degenerates and they congregate on one of the 77 worlds" doesn't matter as much as "people hate this expansion because it's not what got advertised and one of the characters is voiced by a troon and we tried to fix that in post-processing"
if they actually cared they'd nuke balmung with another dalamud

Mateus and Faerie exist too. I wouldn't be surprised if Primal has it spots that I'm not immediately aware of. Dynamis is a refuge for the people who don't want to deal with that, but the average player competency of Dynamis equally isn't impressive either, same for its queue times.

I think you may be focusing too much on your own more immediate problems with the game. Problems that are entirely justifiable, I'll grant you that much, but I don't think Yoshida's concerns about the game's image problem in terms of modding is entirely unwarranted either.

Reactions: Nimbat Out Of Hell
I went through their page, and there’s no way it’s not a tranny, right? Disgusting pervert. The amount of money they spend on NSFW artwork of their own character is insane. I can’t imagine them working like a normal human being and having a decent job when they spend so much time and effort on their “art”.

I hate how popular this degenerate shit is. The amount of likes and support genuinely makes me sick.

You might be surprised (or unsurprised, considering your current perception) to find that most XIV NSFW gposers and similar gooners are, in fact, men playing female characters. I mean, sure you've got plenty of trannies in that mix too, but the trannies are most likely to openly (and loudly) advertise their identity. The ones that aren't so open to revealing their real life genders in any sort of way? It often slips through leaked Discord logs or people eventually jumping on the whole "XIV Selfie Day" trend that happens once a month on X/Twitter that these people are guys. (Addendum for fairness sake: Or deathfats/really homely looking women in general.)

It's also a safe bet any time you see a lot of support thrown behind questionable things like this that people are trying to hide their own skeletons in the closet by association and a veil of "positivity".

People usually use whataboutism rather than admitting that they just don't give a shit.
