Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Going further into base EW and I’m surprised at how much I genuinely enjoy it. Even the parts a lot of people griped about didn't bother me. My only major criticism of EW is that it feels like I’m playing an extremely abridged recap of multiple expansion packs. It felt like they made two to three full expansions, cut all the good parts out and stapled said good parts together. I was aware that it was originally going to be two expansion packs and it shows. Aside from that there isn’t anything obscenely wrong with the base EW msq or plot points that pissed me off.

Square Enix is no longer listed on Sweet Baby Inc's client list. Japanese users noticed that only Square Enix's name has been removed so it is believed Square Enix terminated their contract.

まあスクエニはこんなところに金流してる場合じゃないよな

Well, Square Enix can't afford to waste money on places like this.

買わないポリコレ勢のネガキャンより金を払って買ってくれるユーザーのネガキャンのほうが被害甚大だもんな

The negative campaigning by politically correct people who don't buy it causes more damage than the negative campaigning by users who pay to buy it.

Cure 2 should just flat-out replace Cure 1 and Cure 3 should override Cure 2 and only downgrade in synched content
Cure 3 is a different ability functionally, so best to leave that as a separate ability entirely.

The naming scheme is already awkward enough that it leads newbies to spam Cure 3 on the tank and lose most of their MP because of it.

If I’m not mistaken Cure 3 heals for more HP in a slightly smaller aoe than Medica 1 does, but costing more MP in the process?

Same, EW has been really enjoyable so far. I'm about three hours into EW proper and looking forward to the rest!
Bear in mind that a lot of kvetching about EW isn't so much about the quality; there's a lot of kino throughout the expansion, but more on the lost opportunities there, and how they didn't stick the landing for a lot of things they intended. When someone described Endwalker as an expansion with the highest of highs, and lowest of lows, they were not kidding. I thoroughly enjoyed a lot of the scenes in EW Zenos kino always make me laugh here, especially at the end. but a lot of the really grating things were also from EW.

I personally would rate it as the 3rd best xpac, after Heavensward and Shadowbringer.

Garlemald stands out here, because you'll ever only spend a third of the xpac exploring the repercussions of the imperial war machine and how they deal with their eventual defeat, but it just goes by so quickly. We didn't even get to explore the capital proper, just the outskirts, and what we got feels very compressed. Garlemald is supposed to be the homeland of this continent spanning empire and we got one measly zone. Granted, everything leading up to it is pure kino in the truest sense, so it's not like it's bad. It just feels like they could have gotten a lot more milk out of the stone before we inevitably move on to the next world-ending threat.

By contrast, after Zodiark, the game chooses to waste your time with the moon bunnies. Suddenly you're thrust into doing menial chores for these nobodies, who you won't even care for because chances are you never played FFIV or if you do, you didnt care for the lopporits in any way. The pacing is schizophrenic in the extreme. But at the very least, it follows it up with yet another kino segment of not!India on fire and dealing with the true existential horror of despair. And so on and so on. You WILL alternate between riveting attention and genuine boredom.

Yeah. Another key feature though is that Medica 1 is centered on you, meanwhile Cure 3 is centered on whoever you target within range. So it kinda lets you throw the AOE heal elsewhere. There's one part in UWU where that's huge since you'll be forced to be away from the rest of the party if you get the searing wind debuff.

Medica 1 is honestly kinda useless most of the time for WHM honestly. Basically every situation that calls for it can be handled by Medica 2 or Cure 3. They cost a lot of MP, but that's why Thin Air exists.

@Kane Lives Those are definitely valid points. I feel like a lot of discussion around EW in most sections of the community has been tainted by the unhinged Zodiark Trancer crowd. Even though they’re a vocal minority they were still loud enough to ruin shit for everyone.

Speaking of the trancers are they still carrying on? I checked up on the bigger offenders and they either moved on to something else, were banned from the OF and other places, and/or deleted their social media accounts. I know the Soren guy has been busy malding over some gatcha game lately.

The purpose of Medica I is to provide a low MP cost aoe at a range after the initial Medica II is cast. So if party members are far from each other, you use Medica II once then proceed casting Medica I. If everyone is stacked or otherwise within range, you use Cure III.

I've been out of the loop for the bit; what this "Zodiark Trancer" crowd you guys have been mentioning? Doesn't that have something to do with a webcomic? That's what I've heard, at least.

Or Afflatus Rapture which is also an instantcast and costs 0 MP.
Yeah, missed that one. You don't get it at level 70 unfortunately, so healing UWU/UCOB kinda sucks (especially during Blackfire Trio in UCOB, where you usually have to burn Swiftcast on Cure 3 as a WHM to heal the party while moving).

Yeah. It's not technically useless. Below level 40, it's your only AOE heal and probably has the most usage at that level range for that alone.

It's more that the later on you go, the less you're gonna use it cause you can just cast Medica II alongside Plenary Indulgence/Temperance/Asylum, or throw in an Assize/Rapture afterwards. And that's mainly for critical healing where people will die if you don't heal before they take a mechanic or a raidwide. If there's no damage upcoming, then you don't need to heal and can either let the regen deal with it, or wait for your next Assize usage which you're gonna want to use anyway cause it's a damaging ability with a heal.

It's at least better than Cure 1 though, that ability is completely useless after you get Cure 2.

tl;dr people with venat derangement syndrome

Must be the same people who thought emet selch was a good boy who dindu nuffin.
It's always funny seeing people on twitter with their commissioned art of them and emet selch smooching, meanwhile all I can think of when seeing that is when emet says "I don't consider this murder because I don't think you're alive" as he attempts to genocide the first for the second time.

I chuckle a little when I see people saying we're doing the same thing in Living Memory. Bruh, we're just shutting down a dead MMO, not committing genocide

Which explains exactly why they take the stance they do tbh.

They're formed parasocial bonds towards characters like G'raha and Estinien even though they're not real.

When 14 dies and it's time to be shut down, you think they're gonna just be chill with it?
