Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I've started playing again since this weekend, I probably have a whole slew of the previous expansion to go through before starting the new content. Looking forward to an hour a day after work, probably make a new character just to do the old stuff again too.
Remember that making a new character means not just redoing all the msq but all the sidequests and subsystem unlocks as well.

You can just do New Game+ now. It even lets you select specific chapters and save your progress in NG+ so you can return to the main game to do stuff without losing your place.

I click on this thread hoping to see some good post about the game to help me get into the grind, and I see this. God I have shit luck
Well here's a feelgood post for ya.

Started tanking a few days ago after never wanting to tank due to not liking the boss staring at me, and responsibility. I've always only ever played DPS in MMO's.

But FFXIV treats tanks more like a DPS than how WoW treats tanks.

Hit level 90 with PLD, got the HW & Eureka relics, and now taking on my most dreaded role: Healer.

Started with WHM due to it active healing class, whereas a really like the look of SGE but ithat job is more of a damage-preventative class.

It's surprisingly fun.

I played ranged dps for years before trying tank; and I loved the change. Outside of getting faster queues and such, it just feels good and doesn't require more effort; know how fight mechanics worn and people like you for getting punched in the face for them.

Still remains funny to me how many people have Tank anxiety when it comes to XIV yet they're more than willing to play the jobs that have more responsibilities for clearing content, especially with how braindead playing a Tank is now.

Someday you will reach the point where nobody will care if you're great at your role, but they will key in on little hiccups or, better yet, blame their incompetence on you.

I've already had that; back in Lich King, Trial of the Crusader, first fight of the first boss. Idiot fucking Retribution Paladin keeps taunting because Hand of Reckoning has no Global Cooldown and at the time it did deal damage (it's like 120+ max), so homeboy fucking uses it every time he can. He doesn't understand that while yes it does damage, it's the Paladin's solo-taunt ability, and bosses can become taunt immune, and it's my fault for not holding the boss. After three wipes I drop group, because I refuse to walk them through what is one of if not the easiest fucking raid ever created.

I'm already regretting playing again.
Maybe its because I got a new perspective from playing other games in my 1 and a half year abscense, but the FFXIV playerbase becomes more and more insufferable with each new expansion.
Everything is taken personally, the tiniest comment is considered a slight and you arent to allowed to criticize retards not doing their job because its toxicity.

3 days in and I already hate this game.

Yeah, this multiplayer game would be great if it wasn't for the community.

And I say that only half-jokingly. I just want to find a group of slightly older folks who just care about killing dragons or whatever and can just chill.

I would up in Eorzea jail for telling someone to get their shit together or I'm gonna vote-kick them, because they kept wiping us on a boss. Not a raid boss, a simple 4-man boss, to which I explained the mechanic several times, and every time they failed and got us killed. Without swearing, all caps, or anything else; I tell them get it together, or they're out, because the timer just cleared. Told me I'm toxic, and left. Less than an hour later, a GM pulls me into Gaol and tells me I'm being a bad boy. As much as I hate the WoW community for being inept, the marshmallow softness of the FF14 community is disturbing.

Lucy theorized the game was eventually going to die because of job oversimplification or dev apathy. Honestly, the community at this rate, is probably going to cause people to unsub. The aggressive GM action is also going to steer people away or cause more people to get banned and because many people in the community is so unhinged, people will also get turned off by that as well. Kaiyoko Star and that other community manager and the addon war is going to fray away a lot of the game's reputation. It'll be a slow burn, but if you ask anyone in ESO, GW2, or WoW, they will tell you they left that game because the community is a shithole.

Is it like this on EU servers too?

I'm yet to encounter any of these issues on JP and OCE servers.

I'm wondering if it's a western dominated community problem and the Asians/SEA players just do not give a fuck.

I am aware of this shit because of twitter melt downs and what not, haven't had many snowflakes though, except for obvious NA natives who have transferred to OCE.

because as a DD you can hide in the "crowd", tank/heal is usually considered a single point if failure with more responsibility most are willing to shoulder. other end is it leading to divas thinking they're irreplaceable.

I'd straight up ask how you are supposed to react in that situation, and if he says just carry those tards outright say "they don't pay my sub". if he still wants to give you shit tell him either give you a free month or eat shit (in nicer words). either way let him do the talking, and if he still sanctions you it's more you can fuck him over with later if you want to (assuming their review process isn't total ass).

hey now, don't lump ESO together with those shitpiles, it's way too unpopular and it's combat filters way too many of those tards to ever cause much of an issue. I'd say community is one of the least reason for people quitting ESO.
also, company doesn't care unless there's a huge exodus, otherwise a few hundred people quitting hardly make a difference for the bottom line, and FF14 still got enough positive word of mouth and coomerbait to replenish people leaving (for now).

I was saying if you ask anyone who happens to be former players of FFXIV in WoW, ESO, or GW2, they will tell you the community in FFXIV is a shithole. I think I may have articulated that wrong.
