Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I'd straight up ask how you are supposed to react in that situation, and if he says just carry those tards outright say "they don't pay my sub". if he still wants to give you shit tell him either give you a free month or eat shit (in nicer words). either way let him do the talking, and if he still sanctions you it's more you can fuck him over with later if you want to (assuming their review process isn't total ass).
I'm pretty sure the GMs who throw your ass in jail are the same ones who review your punishment; because I never once got a reversal and I appealed every single time I got locked up. The GM couldn't tell me how to react, but to try not to harass or threaten other players. Telling someone to shape up or get out was apparently a threat, because the retard couldn't do the Liavinne (Tam-Tara HARD) mechanic of "Don't attack the adds when they appear, she'll mark someone for them to focus on, whoever gets marked, stand next to the boss." And I'm not making this up, the do-this-to-not-fucking-die mechanic, is not attacking the adds when they appear. But not doing AoE when a pack of zombies appear was too fucking difficult for the idiot to understand; but the worst part to me, is FF14 GMs seem to operate on the principle of first whine, and whoever runs to mommy and daddy to complain, action must be taken on their behalf.

Is it like this on EU servers too?

I'm yet to encounter any of these issues on JP and OCE servers.

I'm wondering if it's a western dominated community problem and the Asians/SEA players just do not give a fuck.

I am aware of this shit because of twitter melt downs and what not, haven't had many snowflakes though, except for obvious NA natives who have transferred to OCE.
I can't speak for EU players; but this is mainly a HuWhite/Western problem. Asians may have freak outs here and there, but I enjoy playing with them as I mainly do dungeons and shit, and when it comes to dungeons, they're all business. We may not even say anything to each other, zone in, buff up, and fucking clear, /wave goodbye and hey, good-fucking-game. Problems vary by game, but a lot of the community problems I had, came from westerners; namely women and young-adults (not children, young adults).

I was saying if you ask anyone who happens to be former players of FFXIV in WoW, ESO, or GW2, they will tell you the community in FFXIV is a shithole. I think I may have articulated that wrong.
Yeah, but if you ask any ex-players of WoW, etc. and they'll say the community in WoW is a shithole. Every mmo community is garbage. The only difference is the reasoning lol.

even my small af CS department I worked at had seniors and managers, there's pretty much always an escalation hierarchy and procedures to follow (otherwise your support it on the level of a private server, which in turn will make people question what the fuck they pay a sub for). appeals depend how much the company wants to save face ("our GMs are never wrong", see that whole TOR pvp debacle) and how much oversight each GM has to actually enforce policy (for example that small af department had no performance/quality reviews whatsoever, the only way to shit on a GM was to raise enough of a stink loud and often enough for someone else to notice). even if you don't see any effect another GM has a good chance to see the ticket history and go "man, those guys were fucking retarded" and just drop it to get a fast close for his quota. but that's only if you give enough of a fuck.

easiest course of action is simply boot their ass without comment, and if they whisper you angrily just put them on ignore and move on. GMs can't bust you for votekicking a player (if they can even see it, which I doubt, which makes their job a lot harder if not impossible - any CS worth it's salt needs the paper trail; you can't trust customers, ever), and even if the vote doesn't go through it's usually enough with some group pressure of "we can't do it with him, either he leaves or I do", and if you're tank/heal that decision is usually obvious.
while that makes me sound like a top-tier asshole, it's simply not worth it if trying to help out gets construed as harassment or threats by thin-skinned shitters and over-sensitive GMs (for comparison it's not an issue in eso due to design and community).

TLDR: don't try to get them to improve, just kick them or leave.

EU is way too fractured in language to have much of that, most of the time all you read is gibberish anyway so they kick outright.

because half the time the games are garbage (or certain parts of it at least). FF14 doesn't have the m+ autism and a different loot progression, for all it's faults there's still much less reason to throw shit at each other (besides the usual social/random group stuff that as old as MMOs).

Lucy theorized the game was eventually going to die because of job oversimplification or dev apathy. Honestly, the community at this rate, is probably going to cause people to unsub. The aggressive GM action is also going to steer people away or cause more people to get banned and because many people in the community is so unhinged, people will also get turned off by that as well. Kaiyoko Star and that other community manager and the addon war is going to fray away a lot of the game's reputation. It'll be a slow burn, but if you ask anyone in ESO, GW2, or WoW, they will tell you they left that game because the community is a shithole.
We disgruntled few are in the minority. The majority of XIV's community has remained convinced for the bulk of the game's lifespan that XIV has one of the best playerbases around and that everyone is so friendly and welcoming and helpful to each other. Negativity of any degree gets shouted out of the room quickly, downplayed, or becomes actionable by the aforementioned GMs that the game is practically a hugbox at this point, not to mention that the game attracts so many mentally unhinged and emotionally undeveloped people to it that they are easily manipulated and/or gaslighted whenever some questionable things do go down.

I occasionally get shitters like this. I found it best just to take a penalty and not say shit. Trying to kick someone out for being a worthless twat will always end with the other two players taking pity on a retard who refuses to follow directions. I can find something better to do for 30 minutes other than dealing with a mouth breather who’s going to make a 10 to 15 minute run take over half an hour because he “plays for fun”.

And the faggot gms will always side with the offended brainlets.

Does he even have a day job?
it would shock me if any number of these personalities actually had gainful employment and weren't just trying to coast either off of neetdom, handouts, and unstable streaming revenue
I can handle that, but man, the silent cities with people running around everywhere just made it feel weird.
Most chatter is handled in FCs, linkshells, and discords because of how report-happy people in the game are. Though really, most modern MMOs work this way. Gone are the days where you could run into people from all walks of life who were chattering, and come are the days of the majority being neets with no life experience and as such fuckall to offer a conversation.
I'm impressed they managed to make this fucking hambeast yet still have a manface in the art!
Manface? Ahh, you were looking at the jaw. No, no, look at the eyes - that is an abomination, a skinwalker. The anatomy's really something.
But FFXIV treats tanks more like a DPS than how WoW treats tanks.
I don't know whether to love that or hate it. Tanking is by far the easiest role overall, and threat is just not really a thing you have to consider at all. But you also don't really actively mitigate so much as you slap your cooldowns at the correct time, and that's it. In some ways, I do miss the TBC-Wrath WoW era design of tanks juggling damage, threat, and mitigation with their active abilities rather than the modern approach of "just do a dps rotation"
>AST has been fucked with again
yeah but it was made easier so now there's even less to get in the way of that intense single-button rotation
Everything is taken personally, the tiniest comment is considered a slight and you arent to allowed to criticize retards not doing their job because its toxicity.
That crowd is so obnoxious to even try to deal with, they became ascendant because they drove everyone else largely out. I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of people run dungeons with the chats completely turned off. It's one thing if you're nagging a guy for a minor fuckup, but that never happens - it's always when you call out the single-targeting single-pulling tank, the hardcast verraise, or the healer watchin' some netflix that a fit is thrown.

Frankly, I'd have a hankering again for another try at a linkshell or a discord, since my crew is mostly just going to wait on when there's more content released. Meaning I'm mostly just chatting with the discord overlay while I'm playing, if at all. Comes a point you want to shoot the breeze and grab people who you can reasonably suspect are either not eating paint, or have discovered that eating paint is the secret to parse nirvana. It'd still be a right retarded thing to say niggerfaggot on any channel in the game itself, but I'll take calling people drooling retards any day.

Of course, I also have no particular attachment to the game, and if someone were to launch a nefarious scheme to reveal the identities of everyone in the thing, I'd just go do something else.

I probably deserve rainbows for this but it feels like lately I'm seeing more FFXIV youtubers and the occasional artist on twitter point out the toxic positivity and passive aggressiveness in the fanbase and I like to think it's a sign that more people are noticing/admitting it too.

If you get a bad DF group and can't complete it, just leave. There's zero reason to sperg at someone who isn't going to listen to you in the first place (because if they were the sort that listens to advice, they wouldn't be so bad at the game in the first place).

That being said, I don't think I've ever had a dungeon run that couldn't be completed on the shitter DC. I get a lot of rough runs sure but never more than 3 wipes in a dungeon.

the game attracts so many mentally unhinged and emotionally undeveloped people to it that they are easily manipulated and/or gaslighted whenever some questionable things do go down.
This is just every MMO in existence. No one who plays this genre is free of mental illness.

I have played for a year in EU and its pretty chill most of the time. I have seem people being pretty toxic (for xiv standards anyway) in some instances and have called someone a shitter too without getting a warning or anything.

Well, yeah, I didn't say "only XIV has this concentration of mental illness and no other game whatsoever," either.

The point being that XIV has a pretty significant concentration of mental illness – particularly for a mainstream game, and one in which there's a popular presupposition that the community is absolutely radiant with positivity compared to "those other MMOs" which further compounds the issue.

At least in most other games out there, the playerbase generally makes no bones about its own shittiness. XIV players, on the other hand, pride themselves on being above all of that, while being just as bad and, debatably, worse by virtue of their own denial. A lot of these people don't even play the game to play the game. They play it to foster a public image of themselves and to attain some form of "status", however inherently worthless and fleeting that might be.

It remains a bit interesting how much most of the people who play XIV make the basis for their ego and self-esteem centered around how popular they are in-game and in meta communities surrounding the game. It'd honestly be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic and pervasive. The game's a fucking cow farm unto itself.

Lucy is a raider. Raiders are always doomposting about simplification but keep playing. Lucy was also posting about how plugin bans will affect streamers negatively, and how much they're "helping" the game. Thank god Rin Karigani is helping. Please think of the streamers and youtube superstars!!

They've always done this. Especially the youtubers. It's usually raiders too lampooning "the casuals" as being the source of the problem. Unfortunately, in my experience, it's a problem with raiders too. I have seen groups with people I used to raid with completely shit the bed on the new ultimate raid.

They wall on Thordan, Nidhogg or the eyes. They raid for plus 15 hours a week and they're the most passive aggressive cunts. They feel entitled to clear the content ASAP since they're putting in the time. Nobody is having fun playing the game.

Many of them play with a vast array of plugins. It's almost like a crutch to some. Remove the plugins and they are incapable of playing the game.

I was linked a Reddit thread from r/ffxiv :

So many comments either bragging about the amount of women playing the game or how the game helps with gender dysphoria. Game attracts some serious whackos who base their life decisions around the game.

You just described 75%+ of all raiders.

Are those people so fragile and insecure in life that the creation of a virtual game character, nobody but them gives two shits about, is their search for validation of some sort?

It's a means of running away from adult responsibilities and the real world. Pretty lock stock and barrel escapism.
I should say, a whole lot of the post-2013 troons are drawn to the whole "I have gender dysphoria" for the same reason.

It's why I also never get along with any of the playerbase (not in a hostile sense, but more like we just don't talk). I talk about work or workplace crunch and none of them have anything to say to me. I talk about going out to Multnomah Falls and share pictures of that experience and still, nothing. Meanwhile the daily conversation is just "I sneep now!" "*bites Vilja's ear*" or cringe worthy smol posting about kittens in discord which just gives me creepy vibes because these people are usually in their 30's or mid 20's. Or people are talking about cutting themselves or depression posting or suicide baits.

This reminds me that in a strange way I'm actually relieved when I meet players who talk about stuff like having to BRB cause their toddler is being fussy.

It's ironic because raiders and their insipid obsession with 'MUH BALANCE', 'MUH LOGS', and 'MUH TOP 100' are the reason why FFXIV's job mechs have all had their corners rounded off.

Apparently, a lot of teenagers do play the game. You could've fooled me, though; I can't tell them apart from the "adults" playing who, in large strokes, have never once worked a forty in their life.

I think the unabashed success that SHB saw also incentivized them to keep up with that trend, since that expansion also took a fucking buzzsaw to unique mechanics and simplified a lot down. So they... just kept on sawing.

I miss old summoner.
