Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Saw thay there was apparently a "Healers on strike" thing going on. Whats that about? I dont tend to follow the community(cause its mostly shit)

Xenosys, one of the more prominent XIV streamers, did the 91 dungeon with 3 DPS and a tank.

This caused a small group of folks to shit their pants and call for a 'healer strike.'

While there are issues with healers kits in general, their complaints are tackling the wrong things and crying over the wrong stuff.

Working on levelling my crafters now. Got em all to 90 over the weekend, and the only reason GSM ain’t maxed is because I wanna divvy up the level 98 quest exp for maximum gains and I got another few hundred lar ingots to make
The difference between levelling DoL and DoH classes is so ridiculously immense. The former was a jaunty little expedition picking up the timed collectables across the expansion and tossing in a few leves for flavour. The latter is mining 500 pieces of ore to make 100 bars to make 25 collectables because you maxed out on leves three classes ago, not to mention the world expedition because for some reason I have to go back to the fucking lochs to get the ore for one of the core mats of the expac for levelling not one, but two classes.

It seems every time I do my leveling roulettes, I get an ARR or Heavensward dungeon. And as much as I love heavensward (the story mainly) I never wanna do those dungeons again. They’re painfully boring to go back to. Just give me holminster switch or something.

Now ARR dungeon design makes me fucking shudder.

I've been grinding out mats for the savage tier dropping, this is what my week has looked like:

~40M in melds later, mind you. That's the most painful system in the entire game, I don't look forward to doing it again for savage tomorrow. I lost 97 17% chances earlier, I don't even want to do the math to know how improbable that is.

I'm predicting 1600 scrip masterbooks, as we just had 1600 scrip folklore tomes, so for anyone else crafting make sure your capped on purp tonight. Capped Scrips + Custom Delivery + 20ish Collectables should be all 8 books, and you can prep ahead of time. I'm getting on the fishing collectable grind for the blue dust this evening and I should be ready for the markets tomorrow. Billions of gil are about to fly tomorrow, make sure you get yourselves a part of it.
I'm guessing food and pots are going to be the most lucrative at the start, or is it better to focus on making the gear?

Honestly, some ARR trash pulls like Hullbreaker Isle and Amdapor keep are more interesting than what we have now since you can just pull as much as you want up to the boss, sometimes you can even pull mobs into the boss arena. The bosses suck, but the concept of allowing players to pull as much as they want is not too bad. Shame that most tanks don't pull all the way to the boss in most of them, and even if they did the healer would be too busy spamming their weakest heals to keep them alive. If that same design existed today, the community would probably normalize the max pulls, and the only reason they don't for the old dungeons is because they're a joke and take under 10 minutes anyway.

I don't understand people who love Wuk Lamat.
I don't love her, but I found her alright. I preferred the simpler direction the story was going through in the first half in general - the reason people hate her is the reason I found her "comfy". Her arc was predictable, but it just made sense - opposite of someone like, say, G'raha who gets very jarring tone shifts in Shadowbringers and after, or Erenville. Even Thancred's personality shift confuses me somewhat.

I agree with the perspective that DT wasn't the WoL's story, but is it ever? It always seems more a story about the zones or a central character, and we're almost a merc who's set upon a big bad like a dog. In this story, our role seems so much more.... meaningful? It's a lot more evident that our power is priceless, that the Scions are very above the characters because of the width of our experience and knowledge. I've said it before in a different post, the moment when a Scion finally appears to help us out, it's a breath of relief rather than a McGuffin-tier asspull. It makes sense that G'raha and Y'shtola have knowledge about worlds colliding. It makes sense that Radz-at-Han chips in. What doesn't make sense though, was how they wrote Sphene. Still can't see why Wuk Lamat came to ever trust her.

Overall, it's a fucking wishy-washy story. People have said there's so many cringe moments, like the happy Disney-movie music playing during the train building montage, and it's all understandable opinions. But at this point I'm sick of those who think suddenly the story will pull out some political science masters degree commentary. Even Heavensward, the game people tout as deep, had a comically evil theocracy bordering on "religious zealotry bad". War bad, colonialism bad, peace good and freedom good.

It's perfectly fine to expect better, but personally speaking embracing the cringe and heckerino wholesomeness helped me in enjoying the story. Perhaps the fact that I'd been extremely busy and stressed before expansion launch fed into my cope so to speak.

Sorry for the long post. SQEX really bungled the ENG VA choice this time around, affecting how people see the most front-and-center NPC. Hopefully seeing this xir/xer approve going on strike after getting xer clout off FFXIV will hurt xer choices later.

I kinda hate most SHB dungeons and the first EW dungeon. Most bosses there have a solid 20-30% more HP than they should have and most of them don't really do much at all. Once I got to 90 with my mains I started leveling a bunch of classes from their baseline and leveling around 65 to 80 is such a chore. I'd take those bosses doing 20% more damage in general if their hps were 20% less. Earlier dungeons might suck, but they don't feel like they go on forever.

The number 1 money maker is Materia. Food and Pots are steady, but for early prog most people use last tier's stuff so it's not the money maker you'd imagine. Gear is always good to sell, but you need to do it quickly before the underselling bots update.

If you want to make constant, easy money, invest in subs. ~4m a week for basically no work. If you want to make 100M+ on patch day, prep is key.

Mats are probably the easiest money maker, people are not only too lazy to gather, but often to lazy to even see if the craft is cheaper than the mats. So you'll have 5x ore for 500/per, 2500 total while the bars are only 1800 a pop - it's more expensive to craft than it is to buy the mats. If I need 10x bars, I gather the mats for 10x bars, sell the raw mats, buy 10 bars and end up making a profit.

Patch Notes

Ice Paradox is back, BLMs in this thread rejoice.
Also, Umbral Soul changes are so nice, how did it take this long.

So at level 100 what content would a RDM/DNC duo be able to solo at this point? I feel like tanks could probably solo ShB extremes now, but not sure where DPS fall.

Titania and Innocence should definitely be doable. Maybe Diamond. None of them do too much single-target damage. You'll probably need to play around with burst windows to force phase transitions.

If your DNC switches to a tank you can do everything up to like E6S I think.

Yeah, what the fuck is up with that? I queue for "high level dungeons" and get Dzemael Darkhold or some other old trash. I expect high level to be something around 70-90 when I'm slightly above 90 myself.

Anything level 50 or above is considered a “high level dungeon”. Also I imagine all the free trial people causes a dramatic shift towards any pre-shadowbringers dungeons.

Lmao they gave back paradox-ice. Fucking spineless retards without a clue - and hey! My AoE rotation is still fucking broken! I love not using Fire 2 or Blizzard 2, really such a great choice. At least the Umbral Soul change is good, if a bit overdue

Hope you didn't get used to using two braincells, viper-players! We understand that was hard, and so now you only need one
I've never heard anyone mention it ingame so it's basically a nothingburger.
The idea of an official strike is a nothingburger, but the idea - competent players are going to play healers a lot less - is verymuch real. There's a lot of paste-eaters, and so soon as I have them maxed for the sake of maxing them, why would I ever touch them again? They aren't fun, and playing one doesn't make a dungeon go faster in the way that playing a tank does.
Honestly i see this as a W for healers since they get their job to be more easier and they get to pump out more damage.
A win for healers would be the ability to do something interesting here and there. The damage kit is literally pressing one button over and over and over again, sometimes refreshing a DoT. It's fucking awful. They don't need complicated DPS rotations, but for fuck's sake they need something. All four of them play almost identically, which means that at higher levels of play - you pick the one that's just obviously better, because there's zero advantage to one over the other.

It's an easily solved problem, too: give them basic rotations that apply slight debuffs to bosses, or slightly perk up their healing abilities. Warhammer: Age of Reckoning had this shit figured out eons ago, and managed to cook up 4 separate healer designs (and their mirrored counterparts) which all arrived at the same end through wildly varied means.
I don't understand people who love Wuk Lamat.
It's either empty contrarianism, or it's people who get their self-worth from the idea that they enjoy a game with a "good story," who can't possibly cope with the fact that Dawntrail was written for seven-year-olds.
"high level dungeons"
That's just the old 5/6/7/8 queue with a new name, since presumably they didn't want it to keep getting longer and longer and longer.

Holy balls this game is a joke. People are getting stuck in data center travel endless crash loops, I’m people. I just wanted to go to Aether to play with my friends.

Why did they decide that lifting travel restrictions in the same update they released savage was a good idea?

Don't know how it is in Burgerland region, but in the the Eurofag region nobody partyfinds savage and extreme on Chaos so everyone travels to Light. Maybe it's same for Japland so they unlock them at the same time.

Also speaking of savage in general, as someone who has never done savage before and wants to jump in with this expansion what should I expect? And what else should I do besides trying to get my hands on the best gear I can with the tomestones filled with materia (and watch some mechanics videos)?

That’s how it is in NA too, but with the travel restrictions people have actually been using PF in their own servers. Everyone just flocks to the one raiding data center because it’s the one raiding data center.
