Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

  • Happy Easter!
Ladies ladies, no need to fight. The both of you unironically play deep dungeons so you're both niggers. :smug:
In fairness, I barely play XIV anymore and I stopped caring about trying to do the meme challenge solo run.
Like, the title's cool, but I don't care that much to keep progressing towards it.

I'm finishing the Diadem first, then I'm going to try and do the stupid challenge.
*chirp*

I return to the thread to bring some FF14-related gossip - Mr. Happy just released a video where he provided a followup to the GoFundMe he did for his mother during DSR prog back in 2022.

tl;dr
1) Happy raised in excess of $100k via GoFundMe.
2) This money was intended to be given to his widowed and disabled mother so she could pay off the mortgage on the family home and get a few other big debts in order so that Happy could be freed up somewhat from supporting her.
3) Happy continued to pay the property taxes and a few other bills here and there but eventually pushed his mother to sell off the house.
4) A few weeks ago, Happy was told his mother was being removed from the home by law enforcement.
5) This was due to a judgment against her for the mortgage - originally the remaining principal was ~$50k but the amount listed in the judgment is ~$70k. This indicates that not only did she not pay off the mortgage, she likely didn't make any payments at all over the last two years.
6) Happy has fully cut her off. He's trying to figure out how to deal with the GoFundMe situation. His position right now is that even if he's not required to pay people back he wants to at least do some refunds to the people who helped raise money.

Kinda insane tbh. I think it was definitely a mistake on his part to just give her the money and not directly pay the mortgage himself. I've seen way too many boomers (especially boomer women) who literally cannot control themselves when they get a massive windfall and spend it all on retarded shit.

Terrifying. It's always harder when its a family member exhibiting this kind of retardation too, I wish him the best. Good on him for at least trying to see if he can give some of the money back.

Is there a Final Fantasy CWLS I can join? Or any recommendations for a non-pozzed community for FF14?
The TOS explicitly says that woke colonizers are in the right if they get their feelings hurt when they go into a new FC/CWLS. Don't get your hopes up.

There was the start of a Kiwi CWLS on Aether but it sort of died as far as I can tell. The method to join was you joined the Formerly Chuck's fellowship and then the CWLS owner would add you. Haven't seen anyone else online in it in a while though.

I was going to shill it hard once the patch dropped, but then the BLM changes required me to kill myself.

With DC travel, it had a much better chance of survival than the DC-locked attempts of yore, but it would still require promotion to grow.

I never thought about it until I started needing to fish Cloudsails, but the Spearfishing Gig KILLS the Fisher's iLVL
All the fishing stuff is balanced around it so it shouldn't be an issue.

But yes, the failure of squeenix to really do anything with the FSH secondary tool is confusing. If they're not going to release gear for it, why even have it be there in the first place?

It's also located in Aether which means that only players who's home world is Aether can join, so that leaves the rest of us unable to.

Probably for the best if I'm being perfectly honest. If we all grouped together, we'd glow brighter than the irradiated sun.

The CWLS can be joined by anyone, the... uh, the whatever the Fellowship thing or whatever was is aether-only. You don't have to re-join the CWLS once you go back to your home world - I migrated from Dynamis on the regular. You only have to arrange to be online at the same time as someone that can invite you into it, and then it's set.

It seems to be that linkshells work like [character]->[DC]->[Linkshells for DC]. So as soon as you're in that DC, you're in the LS once joining.
