Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

it would have been cool if you had parallel scenarios with things happening in DT that happened in the old stories except you get to use all the wisdom you gained to nip the problem in the bud
Like Wuk could try to make a crystal braves type of group but you step in and tell her your story as advice or maybe she trusts some random guy but you tell her look into his background more, maybe teach her how to connect with beast tribe and bring them over to your side, etc
it would give a great reason to why we are there, she starts of naive but as she learns from our adventures and the knowledge we gained she won't make the same mistakes we did and becomes a good ruler
this way the wol can be really important to the story but take background role

Fork Tower keeps on being the content that gives.
Japanese players have to post lengthy apologies in one of the JP FT Discords if they wipe the raid.

As per this Xeet.

I restate again: Would it have been too much to ask to ALSO release a normal version of shit like this?
Lol what a cuck, should've just said "sorry for fucking shit up" instead he gave a reddit apology. This are the cucks the game tries to appeal to.

The correct answer is to just say "Lmao play better next time and you'll clear even if my ass died"

Still a little upset that we never got that "Corsair" idea that people were tossing around pre-Dawntrail; sword + pistol DPS. No idea how it would've worked in FFXIV, but it would've been cool to look at, at least.
Probably like a blend of WoW's Outlaw Rogue and Survival Hunter. Outlaw's a bandit/pirate with a flintlock sidearm and rolls dice for personal buffs(plus some options to cheat the rolls), and Survival has a cooldown that lets it spam filler attacks at 40 yards and a bomb with a random effect as part of the basic rotation(maybe you could do a rum molotov or something for Corsair). That or a reverse Red Mage to keep it simple. I just brought those up for more specific ideas.

Build in melee with the sword, back off to hit the target with a barrage of gunfire, gapcloser, repeat.

Yeah, there was a statement from the devs to some JP community person about being "aware of issues" with "job identity and function" or something to that extent and that they want to address it. I tried to find it again just now and couldn't but I know it was making rounds on places like the subreddit maybe three weeks ago or so. I can guarantee you didn't just imagine it.
IIRC it was around the time PLD button squish was revealed and someone said it was just a stopgap until they could do a full rework of every class. Yoshi P also had an interview where he said they're thinking about what to do with job design and might not increase the level cap and instead move to a mastery system.

I don't have high hopes (look at how VPR is nonfunctional if you take it into low-level content) but at least they recognize that there's a problem.

So weird how every other MMO team (no matter how quickly they flopped/died) didn't seem to have much issue with this herculean task that they are paid to do.

Not surprising though since this is how she reacts if people don't like her blorbos:
kate on anyone disliking characters.webp

Always the audience/customer's fault.

The energy used for complaining could be used to make the game slightly less dogshit.
Who woulda thought that inserting wokie shit and a bunch of people who don't know what they're doing would make the game less popular.
Whoaaaa. Mind thoroughly fucked.

Who would've thought that people wouldn't like stupid wokeshit changes like making pixies nonbinary and changing beast tribes to allied society. Who would've figured that players wouldn't take to favoritism and your choosing a shitty troon to VA a major role.

Nobody wanted or asked for that stupid shit you daft cunt. Seethe.

I seriously don't get this modern thinking that if X doesnt sell, it's the customer's fault. It's in almost every entertainment industry but particularly prevalent for video games in particular. Forgetting that it's the customer that chooses whether to buy a game or not.

You can usually use clearsky to view posts on bluesky without needing to have an account but users can set an option where you need to log in to even view their posts through clearsky. I’m not touching bluesky either way, if the playerbase is already bad on X I dread to see how it’s like on bluesky.

I mean, look - if you work in the corporate world, steady and predictable is awesome. It's the best thing ever. If their release cadence is nice and rigid, that's a tremendous boon and it's a great achievement to get there.

Which is why it's a misdirect. People aren't really mad at the 'steady and predictable' - they're mad that steady and predictable is producing tepid trash. With the process so streamlined, they should be able to be incredibly productive. So many "how do we handle this?" problems have been resolved over the course of the team doing this for so long. Sure, when you have leadership transfers some of that knowledge is going to get lost; but DT reflects almost a generational change in the company that has seen all of the knowledge getting lost. That when the leadership was shuffled over to 16 to produce a middling game, there was nothing left to sprinkle on 14.

Kate herself is essentially a new-generation replacement for Koji, and we've already seen that ball dropped: the characters don't speak, at all, with their own voices. To some extent this is Hiroi; but localizers have the leverage to take a poor script and to at least make Alphinaud talk like Alphinaud (see: Stormblood). This is really why I think the VA performances in this expansion, other than Sphene, sounded like they were phoning it in (if they weren't just plainly incompetent): the Scions' actors, who know these characters and their nuances deeply, were effectively being asked to read shitty fanfiction.

Steady and predictable is awesome if it means you've got passionate people who know their schedule using the time and money they save to try new ideas and make them as polished as possible.
It's shit when it means "the old team is sick of complaints so they're streamlining as much as possible while filling the minimum amount of content that's expected each patch cycle, and the new team are cargo-culting the original process without any of the talent."

Sena was at Anime Expo, and was hanging around with Jason Charles Miller, Amanda Achen, and some latina XIV streamer
5d385e84-0d90-4c6a-8d80-f5f4c77c0fb6.webp
I'm also hearing that, on her Bluesky account, Kate is still propping up Sena, retweeting his bullshit, and more bizarringly ONLY Sena's posts (not the other VAs). Based on this, it can be surmissed that Sena is still deeply embedded in the FFXIV crew and likely isn't going anywhere. Which means Wuk is probably not going anywhere either. I mean, the constant callbacks (even after the backlash of 7.0) to Wuk in non-MSQ content (her name being permanently mentioned in a voiced line by Bakool Ja Ja in the Jeuno raid, her face showing up in a flashback in the Pelu Pelu tribe quests, and most recently her showing up in another flashback at the start of the Occult Crescent storyline) is telling enough that they STILL want to keep pushing her for some unholy reason.

The only counterpoint is that Sena has been crying that he hasn't been getting work and is broke, but

1) He could just be lying or grossly exaggerating his predicament to grift off his followers
2)Even if it is true, it could just be he doesn't understand the nature of the VA industry and how you don't have a stable line of work ever (unless you're some top-tier actor in high-demand) and you just need to drift from project to project. Or it could be that nobody besides Square Enix wants him, but doesn't mean he doesn't still have work lined up on FFXIV, just that he was expecting way more work than was ever realistic, and or was expecting to get other roles on other games to rely off of and that just never happened (because he's a shit VA and brand poison and only Yoshida is stupid or simply naive enough to give him a job).

Whatever the case I have a sinking feeling Sena, and Wuk Lamat, are not going anywhere. Even after the backlash they still keep pushing Wuk (even in side content where she has literally no reason to even be mentioned), and Sena appears to still friendly with the XIV team even after all of his online bullshit, both before getting hired (like trying to get a female VA fired because he didn't want them voicing a trans character), and after (attacking the XIV community and calling them racist for not liking a dogshit song). The fact that he hasn't been publicly exiled from the XIV crew and Wuk hasn't been banished to the shadowrealm already should tell you everything you need to know. Yoshida does not give a fuck about the backlash towards this character or the VA, and would rather kill the game than drop them. I'm done with the copes at this point.
