I think he's trying to tell us Halmarut's like Fandaniel in the beginning of Endwalker. More interesting thing is she not acting like a traditional Asican, which would be an interesting premise. As much as I'm happy the overwhelming majority of the le evil shadowmen are dead, Zodiark being dead and gone and them no longer being bound to Him, I always wanted to know how they would write the lesser Ascians that have their freedom and agendas or goal to accomplish.

In one of the recent interviews Yoshi-Piss wanted to claim that Social Media was to blame for all the negativity towards the Z-team's sloppy leavings being less than hailed as the second coming. Granted I'm paraphrasing from translations, but he seriously tried to sell the idea that negative discourse on Social Media played at least a substantial part in it.
So many teams try to play off their flub with 'its just negative trolls!' If he really believed that they wouldn't have changed lines and done extensive work later on. Its just cope.
Honestly whatever they do with the story, I think this xpac will be a whiff regardless, simply because the gameplay has gotten that stale.
