Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I thought it was a fairly solid fanfest that at least addressed a lot of what's wrong with the game currently so it's a first step in the right direction; but only time will tell if they deliver on it.
Funny how they did this AND had the Square Enix CEO come on stage to tell everyone they're definitely giving CBU3 money to do all this stuff.

Decided to reactivate my account and discovered that some fucking jeets compromised my login when I was unsubbed and I guess paid enough game time to get in on my character long enough to take all my gil.
Just out of curiosity: Steam user or non Steam user?

I've seen a lot of people talking about stolen accounts and I'm wondering if one or the other is more likely to be targeted.

They just showed they are DONE with 2 minute meta in 8.0

I'll be cautions about this. All these proposed improvements seem too good to be true. It's entirely possible their replacement is bad. However I'll note the designers are acknowledging how bad and stagnant job and encounter design has become since it's all designed around 2m.

I'm cautiously optimistic about all of this. The focus on 'seasons' could be fun since they pretty much have been doing something similar with the Moogle Tome events. If they went a little nuttier and added in seasonal modifiers for group content like other MMOs do that would wonders to shake things up too.

I'll wait until I see more of the Evolved playstyle before I can really form an opinion. Sounds nice but how is it going to play with healers? What about DNC RNG mechanics?

Shadowbringers being added to the free trial is nice too. Been having the itch to come back and play but I really don't want to give them sub money again until I know they are earning it. Might just use the free trial on a different account I can use as a mule later to scratch that itch until then.

@Fcret That sucks. And yeah it’s not worth doing the rollback process. Gil is extremely easy to make nowadays and you can make 5 mil in less time it takes to have your character rolled back.

This is the first step but 2-minute rotations were just a symptom of their encounter design. It will always be inevitable so long as pure DPS is the only metric that matters. Fights need to be less coordinated and predictable. You need more contextual problems for the group to solve. Healing, mitigation, and positioning should be a concern all the time not just when it's scheduled in a boss fight. It's not that the meta is stale, it's just bad. I hope they realize this.

I'm not exactly holding my breath on Evercold being great but if they manage to unfuck some things I'd be pleasantly surprised. Maybe even a tiny bit entertained if it fucks up harder
All the quests in evercold will be helping Wuk Lamant teach tiny black children how to eat tacos.

We once again miss out on a FFXIV raid because he have to appease the anime fans. I wonder if the Evangelion cross over will include a scene where the WoL jacks off on some girl in her hospital bed.

I'll definitely come back for evangelion. Hope the new tank job is badass, I've heard speculation based on Mr Yoshi Ps shirt that its based on the Judges from 12.

The duality of Farmers.

Having watched the presentation about the new combat system I'm actually (Twelve help me) kind of excited to play healer again. Last time I felt that was when Stance Dancing was still a thing.

Now to see how they bork Astrologian (preferred healing Job) with these changes so I can go right back to be bummed out and just keep maining Red Mage.

Come on, that'll obviously be Urianger.

I feel pretty good seeing the job changes. Tanks reacting to enemy attacks is a good idea that fits with the fantasy of a tank, shame there's not much word about enmity management. Acknowledging that Glare spam is lame for Healers is encouraging. I'm more interested in seeing how they handle SCH and AST, but cutting down the Healer toolkit can only be a good thing.
The only general issue I have is with Phys Ranged; I get the logic of removing damage buffs, can't have a timer meta without timer windows, but if it's pure utility/healing, then Phys Ranged is going to stay where it currently is being ignored for higher DPS.

I would be optimistic, but the person saying it all is Yoshi P. A parasocial Todd Howard, gay Japanese man. I don't trust him after the number of times he has burnt the audience.

A for the atrociously audio-balanced trailer where you could not even hear the words. Meh, the second I saw the Scions, a stronk woman twin, I could not give a flying fuck.

The Scions are one of the worst things about this game, that and the button bloat. They're too afraid of killing them off because the ESG audience will show a shit fit and quit, whilst spamming Twitter and Reddit.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the job changes, I actually like some of the PVP versions of jobs, like PVP MCH is amazing fun and drill sniping people will never stop being old, and seeing as it's the PVP guy designing the PVE system I'm going to let the dude cook. On the other hand as a WAR main fuck you for saying I'm the designated OT now, my whole job is just to be hit in the head and scream nigger back in response.

The fuck are you talking about?

There are 2 maybe 3 women in that trailer, ones an old woman telling a little boy(?) a story and the other is praying on screen for half a second and dies.

Did they say in the dev panel that they were removing damage buffs? Because AFAIK they were more just talking about removing them from most of the classes and making them something rarer.

Even so, I think we're underestimating how useful a lot of these buffs will be. I remember when they showed off Scholar's expedience in the lead-up to EW and it got clowned on but then it turned out to be so meta that they had to spend the rest of Endwalker nerfing it because it straight-up allowed parties to ignore certain mechs.

I remembered that. My smug SCH ass was so vindicated when it turned out to be OP, exactly as I foresaw.

For the gameplay shown of BRD, the quintessential raid buff class, it had no damaging buffs whatsoever, instead turned to regen, shields and movement speed. And yeah, potentially 40s of movement speed is great, but it's still an odd identity if the same logic is applied to DNC, MCH and the new Phys Ranged; now the role that exists to give increased movement.
I mean hell if they're serious about getting rid of a timer meta, just bring back Haste.

Im cautiously optimistic, but honestly nothing of value for me will be lost if it is another dumpster fire. Looking forward to how the changs will affect the game, hopefully for the better.
