I totally get RP (a little eccentric but many I’ve seen are people who want to immerse themselves) but I don’t get rping as an Applebee’s waiter. If you want to work at a restaurant... get a job at a restaurant.

Working as a waiter is just some set up for some erotic roleplay later on. You know..the same way porno actors dress up as a cable guy and knock on some lady's door while her husband is away or something like that. Most of the time they work as servers in very adult establishments.
They are adult so you know it's serious business with no kids allowed even though there's no actual way for them to keep kids out and they can wander in there if they wanted.

I'm on Mana (JP) DC and RP is pretty popular, but it's also not anywhere near as degenerate as this. So many people RP in the Japan servers, there's a whole group of lalafel host club members, people do regular music group performances and there are countless cafe events.

Everything is so organised in JP, it's nice. As someone said before a few pages back, people actually use the PF for getting PUG groups together. There are macros used to post the strategic positions in bosses, with members asked to pick positions that line up with them (eg healer 1 goes to position A) before the fight starts. I don't do much end game content personally cause I'm a big ol' gathering and crafting sperg rn but I have a lot of friends that are actively learning savage raids. The only downside is if you really don't speak much Japanese it can be a little hard to communicate.

It's both weird and fascinating to me what sort of stuff people do with this game, as someone who doesn't really play mmos usually. There's a streamer/youtuber I follow who apparently made a burlesque club with her fans on Cactaur and the whole concept behind it is just funny to me the more I think about it. Though I know people have been doing this type of stuff already since simulation mmos like active worlds and second life were around.

Why a burlesque house? Out of everything it had to be a burlesque house.

I have a lalafell on Aether DC and a viera on Elemental DC. One to enjoy the game with my American friends and the other for my Japanese friends. The lala is the main character that does almost all content (I am not very confident in extreme/savage content) while the viera is a tank main with questionable taste in bikini armor. I'm mostly trying to learn new jobs after leveling them to 80 while trying to level the boring DoL jobs to then easily transition to the DoH jobs.

The worst message I've seen on the party finder was a group offering erp services in exchange for gil. Like I get people running erp brothels just for the fun of it, but where do you go so wrong in your life that you start helping strangers masturbate over the internet for imaginary video game money?

I mean, you can temporarily stop strangers from masturbating over the internet for imaginary video game money as well.

I don't remember if I said this ITT or not, but a friend of mine busted up a session in Eulmore once and got paid 10 million gil to fuck off.

Yeah you could go outside your house and create your own jumping puzzles. The amount of technical issues this game is unacceptable but the cult community refuses to acknowledge any of this, with the usual "FFXIV is perfect and can do no wrong."

You used to be able to bypass server transfer blocks for years using an HTML editor til it got so bad on Balmung and when making Crystal DC. You edit your appearance however you want by using the one dude that lets you change your hair using CMtools once you're inside the instance where you edit your character and simply leave when done, unless that got fixed. My personal favorite was when they did a hardcap of 90fps because having too high of a frame rate caused things to act a bit wonky. This resulted in people being unable to even launch the game, day 1 of ShB, for having too good of a computer due to the games garbage frame limiter and had to use a file to bypass the cap to launch it til it was reverted by having to take the servers down for a couple of hours when a hotfix is easy to push through.

There a lot of cheaters in this sad excuse of PvP but again, no one ever gets punished and these people who use hacks, appear in their little tournaments held at fanfest for actual prizes that are a pretty penny.
I heard doing the CMTools thing is now a permaban.

I wouldn't know since I haven't done any of that stuff personally but wouldn't be surprised if nothing happens to your account since they didn't take any action on people abusing the HTML edit to transfer to Balmung, or the guy who used GCD hacks throughout Gordias, even with Yoshi-P talking about it on the forums, until he said a curse word in PvP that got him suspended. The current "hot topic" of cheating in FFXIV is people using bots for the Ishgard restoration ranking and shit. It's hilarious seeing the same people who bot/RMT themselves, complain about people botting. People who play this game have absolutely zero awareness as they continue to live through their FFXIV character due to their narcissism as "fashion reporters" and other nonsense bullshit. These people aren't going to know what to do with their lives when FFXIV starts following in FFXI footsteps.

Reminds me of a guy I knew once who started going on a tirade how much he hates "cheaters" and "cheating" in XIV, even people who just game the system by using the functions provided to you. Said person was also someone who regularly "traded" ranked wins in Triple Triad tournaments in order to game the results and win, and helped other people on the server win tournaments this same way.

Everybody proceeded to point out to him that trading Triple Triad wins like that was "cheating" by his own definition. They literally had to sit him down and go over the finer logical points to it because he was that far in denial. He proceeded to have a complete mental breakdown and didn't come back to the game for a few days.

XIV does things to people's minds, man. It's fucking weird.

How people can take this game so seriously is beyond me, all I do when I sub is PUG savages, look for some glam and hunt for it, didn't even know Triple Triad was that big till you guys mentioned it.

For me it's always been a steady source of GSP selling cards.

I can never understand people who blow that much money on fantasias. Don't people get attached to their character anymore?
I like my characters too much that I would rather just make alts.

Speaking of alts, I was on Crystal/Balmung and was surprised to find Ul'dah actually being packed.

Third party tools are bannable however it's hard for Squeenix to detect them unless you're dumb enough to upload a picture/video of your modified game with your character's name on it or brag about people's dps in the game chat.
