Dramacow FineBros - Copyrighting React Videos Controversy, the Ongoing Shitstorm, Sadly Increasing Subs

So, if I understand correctly, they're threatening people with breach of copyright for something they don't actually have copyright over?
Even NOW they don't ACTUALLY have the trademark over "REACT" it's still going through the claims process, and people, as posted earlier in the thread, are already going to try and oppose their claim.

The way YouTube works, from the way I understand it, is that anybody (in this case the Fine Bros) can claim to own something and flag any video for infringing it. YouTube then automatically takes down that video and it will remain the status quo unless the video uploader files a dispute for YouTube to analyze and be judged in the uploader's favor, which YouTube almost never even look at let alone judge. Potentially any jackass who owes nothing can file a takedown on YouTube to take down anything because YouTube basically just bends over backwards for whoever files any takedown request, so realistically the Fine Bros don't even need to have it actually trademarked to screw over all of the smaller channels. They can just claim they have it trademarked, which has been the case for all their past takedown attempts.

AND, unless this has changed and I've forgotten about it, if you content claim a thing you also get all of it's ad revenue for 2 weeks or whatever, before the claim expires, and there's no way for the person you've been stealing from to get that back.

This is why these lawyers are trying to become Internet superheroes by challenging this bullshit in court.

(Technically before an administrative body, but they sound extra pissed and when these clowns try to monetize, i.e. steal other people's content odds are pretty good they'll actually get sued for it.)

Holy shit they're enforcing trademarks they don't even have yet. The fucking balls on these guys.

here is what they have

last three with reg. number are theirs, rest approved but still in process, so public can challenge those I guess, if I understood that copyright attorney

I wonder what their next course of action is. Their fanbase is turning against them at quick pace. Even once the heat dies down, this controversy is just going to linger like a bad egg.
Given how their attempts at damage control have done fuck all, they're probably going to lay low for a while until the outrage settles. Anything they say or do at this point could possibly cause another shitstorm.

Or they could go through with their plan anyway because they're fucking idiots (assuming this is real)

Sourcefed uploaded a video on this now, but I can't link on mobile without the YouTube app opening.

Literally their entire video was "Guys, aren't we so amazing for allowing you to create reaction videos if you do it under our banner? Of course, we still get a cut of the revenue and technically you're working for us instead of with us, but still, you're just really lucky that we even thought of this because otherwise we'd just get all of your videos yanked and call it a day. God, we're so great. We are changing the world."

There was also the very unpleasant implication of extortion. I mean, think about it. The Fine Bros are one of the biggest channels on YouTube and probably earn Google a lot of revenue, so obviously Youtube is gonna take their side when it comes to DMCA takedowns. Smaller channels- even if "small" means 200,000 subscribers- would have to give the Fine Bros a cut of their revenue if they want to keep making videos because they can't fight something so much larger than them. It's hardly a surprise why so many YouTubers are lashing out.

It would be pretty funny if most of the Fine Brothers' video content gets flagged the next day, and the people they fucked over get compensated big time (except for the other ones who advocated this bullshit trademark of Reaction).
