The adblock plugin I use lets you block certain html elements. (On top of whatever else it does, probably what you're describing.)

So I should be able to block youtube's video player. If I could restrict it to certain urls, I could prevent the video player from showing up at all on fine bros videos.

So my question is: if the video never loads, does it ding a view or not? (I guess we don't know, we'd have to test it, I guess.)

It doesn't count as a view until you've watched a certain amount of the video. I couldn't tell you exactly how much but it's already set up to avoid people abusing it [i.e. you can't just quickly refresh the page to boost views].

Based on the steady rise since the sharp decline a few months ago, they'll be back to "full" in about five weeks from now or so. *sigh*

As the unsubbing was going down some people I hang with between classes watched a bunch of fine bro's videos, if anything it brought them more attention. It's disappointing.

I honestly fucking hope they both get arrested for some tax or other fraud related offense.

Never take internet causes seriously, the interwebz has a the attention spam of a gnat. Just watch whatever the fuck you want and go about your day.

Honestly, some of their stuff is mildly entertaining, but I can't believe that many people subscribe to them, simply for the fact that they spam your feed with a bunch of clickbaity thumbnails. Every time I look up the list of top youtubers, I'm reminded that the youtube audience is comprised largely of morons.

I love the Fine Brothers videos I'm glad everything worked out okay for them.

Funny, I'm reminded of this every time I watch a "YouTubers React". The YouTubers react to some of the most interesting material, but as people they're mostly either incredibly banal or unbearably obnoxious. Why people devoutly watch these morons is a mystery.

They don't usually. Most of the people who watch reaction channels are just people who want to see some funny videos. This casual attitude is usually why blowouts like this don't last long, since the people who sub go "oh hey, these guys made another funny video where kids don't know what a plotter is." without knowing that the video maker are moneygrubbing asshats.

Either way, we still have that half million sub drop in our hearts as a cherished memory.

They don't really. They're bottom feeders who appeal to the casual viewer by packing their videos with jailbait.
