Video streaming platforms are one of the most expensive money pits in the tech industry.

That said, they probably got lowball estimates from companies assuming Sam would only be getting a couple hundred concurrent viewers. Given Sam’s notoriety it wouldn’t be surprising if he got exponentially more traffic than his host quoted him for.
