I don't think there was a day he wasn't in the house in plain clothes (no shark outfit), sometimes multiple times per day. I feel like once they saw the viewership they were getting the more Jet tried to put himself in the spotlight instead of running things behind the scenes.

One of my biggest hopes is that Sam is more involved, even if it's just planning because Sam can actually be funny and seemed to understand the appeal of fishtank more than Jet plus he's obviously been involved with production of a real tv show. I know Sam was pretty busy with WP2 during fishtank season 1 but he's probably more free now and hopefully reigns Jet in to make sure he doesn't mess up one of the best things to happen to Nu-MDE.

I fully agree with you here, Sam was easily one of the best parts of the show and I recall everyone in chat and in this thread eagerly anticipating Jason Goldstriker's daily appearances every time.

So ideally this goes so damn well that investors get dividends, outside of that the other scenario would be a some kind of buyout/aquisition:

There is practically zero chance anyone in the crowdfunding will see anything more than a nominal return in the event of an acquisition. Say that some hypothetical big moneyed moron wants to buy out fishtank for, oh, pick a figure, $15 million.

One way you could structure that is that each shareholder gets their proportional share of that money. If there are one million shares, each would get $15. That'd be fair.

But if you're Sam, you structure it such that shareholders get made whole, with a little profit--say $1.2 million goes to them--and Sam and the gang gets a nice $13.8 million talent contract to keep them working. The acquirer doesn't really give a shit either way so long as the total price is right.

In a normal corporation shareholders could stop that kind of thing, but here, you have no board seats and the money at play is too small to sue over anyway. People should REALLY assume that they're just making a big gift to Sam Hyde with this thing.

From the perspective of an OG Jon fan it wouldn't even be fun and would be the very definition of beating a dead horse. Jon was great at first because he wasn't aware of his fame. All the shit he did with Simmons, the meltdowns he had, the conflicts and friendships he made in the first 16 days were because he was being genuine. The moment he was exposed to what made him famous he became tainted.

When Jon returned he took every attribute that made him great, over exaggerated it, and as a result it felt very artificial and forced. In the first 16 days Jon and Letty were pretty close. They were genuine friends. Arguments they had were funny and endearing because they were real. The moment Jon was exposed to social media fame it gave him the impression that he had to double down on being a Tate bro faggot who screams like a retard because people found it funny. He simply didn't realize that what made it funny was he wasn't self aware when doing those things.

Jon doing pushups every time an alarm clock went off was funny because he wanted to do them. The day Jon came back he got up on a counter and started doing squats. It was a way of him saying "Haha guys look at me doing funny Jon workout stuff because I'm Jon. You can laugh now." The original endearment was gone, and what remained was a husk of what Jon was at the start. E-fame corrupts.

On the topic of fame and how it effects contestant, I think one of the brilliant things Sam did on the show was fuel the flames for fish with their e-fame, but never overdid it. At the start of the show he said Mr. Beast shouted the show out and it had over 100k viewers. When he showed Jon that fake Andrew Tate tweet it was a way to make him think he was poplar, but it didn't result in him being tainted as a character. When Sam told Vance he had a very dedicated fanbase, it pushed him to apply himself a bit harder and lead to the "Let's GOOO" phrase and the schizo arc. There's example for all fish. I hope in this upcoming season they will fuck with the fish by making up what's going on outside of the house way more.

I dunno if you've ever seen Windy City Heat but I found it very informative for understanding the specific art form that goes into a show like Fishtank. The careful balance of lovebombing and trolling. I don't think they can successfully gaslight Jon anymore but they can keep him hooked like Sylvia did in Dallas by inflating his ego and bullshitting him about what the TTSes mean.

But I agree with @Lowercase I internet that they already explored everything they really could with Jon. The 10 Step Gaslight Jon Plan put his whole ass on display for the audience and the only thing left would be to bring Jon on and break his ego completely by having Sam and Frank dress him down out of character, but I think production would consider that too far. I would like to see Sam tell Jon out of character that he's a shithead but it's the sort of "tearing people down" moment they're trying to avoid.

Also: Jon did a stream the other day that was over 3 hours long, I just flicked through it at random and probably won't watch it in full but I did hear Jon say that production told him that for some period of time on Day 7 they were thinking he would be the first that they would eliminate, because they could tell he was already starting to be impacted mentally by the house. Reading what you and @Lowercase I internet said, it makes a lot of sense. I have personally been confused because it seems like they’re still gaslighting him a bit on Twitter. From liking and sharing tweets making fun of Tate knowing Jon would see them then love bombing him liking, retweeting and commenting on some of his stuff. I didn’t know how much care and sympathy Sam actually has towards Jon or if he secretly thinks he’s still deserving of being humbled by their audience and new fish in the tank for a few days while they make money off him.

I know you can’t change people, but Sam seems like one of the people who could legitimately guide Jon in the right direction and tell him he needs to behave differently online if he wants to capitalize off the bit of attention he got from the show. Jon has to understand he’s not Sam, when he tells slut jokes, fat jokes, etc. it’s not even funny and will turn people away. Whenever Jon is trying to be funny, he’s the opposite. He’s accidentally funny and that’s why I liked him his first two weeks in the house. When he returned he was a complete ass.

I think Jon wants to go back because his own online career is going downhill fast and he knows he needs another boost. Repeating myself here, but I really can’t tell how much they care for him if at all. I feel like they flip flop, like when he’s talking to Letty’s schizo exes and trying to bring attention to them they think he’s being a total dickhead along with fighting with Sylvia, asking people for $500 for appearances on podcasts, etc. Other times I don’t know if they feel sorry for him that the other fish have either called him out directly, burned him or just cut him off (besides Betty if she counts) and his views and engagement are dwindling.
He was lucky enough to get Sam to be his first guest on his podcast and seeing Sam be very real with him, much more than you’ve seen Sam open up publicly on other podcasts setting Jon up for other guests to want to sign on like Rusty Cage who is a pretty good catch and then the decline to others most have no idea who they are with views falling each podcast and then he was on Alex Stein’s show but don’t know if he’ll get an invite back.

I assume Jon has asked them if he can come back as a freeloader at some point and they’ve told him we’ll see. I’m assuming they’re going to wait and see how well season 2 does and the vibe and how much of his time they can control along with privately guiding him and possibly even censoring some TTS because there is some strong Jon hate out there now. He’s beefed with so many randos after the show you can’t even keep track. I’m not completely sure that if the show was underperforming they wouldn’t be willing to throw him back in to stir up nostalgia of those who love/loved him and those who hate him and will be watching in hopes he’s humiliated and gaslight him again. If he does return, he’ll either be brought in and coached to be a hero or a villain while still being manipulated by production to some degree to get the performance they want out of him.

Tried to watch his streams and they're just bad. Even the first one with Samuyil Hyde was horrible. In later episodes, he's berating the chat for not donating. I stayed completely away from /tv/ because it's all Josie posting. During the outage I went to a mainstream Discord where they had to segregate the Josiecels because otherwise discussion of the show was drowned out.

I can be self aware and say most of the stuff I've posted in the thread is too long-winded to fly anywhere besides a website that's structured like a forum, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's too cringe for lots of people. Writing letters back and forth is old social media. But when sneedchat was live I think that was the best place to discuss the show, for any person.
