With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

Yeah in my inane ramblings I forgot that at the end of the day, cole had a point and it was ultimately the staff's responsibility to be on top of things and prevent these "back to the corner" situations.

I would like to think that we will have a season 3 because its such a unique thing to bring to life and we've seen how it could potentially be great with different fish and different house layouts. But season 2 is the learning experience that season 1 should have been. I hope Jet stops trying to use the “by the cuff” excuse when he really means he’s being lazy. We’ve got funds, invest in props for fun creative challenges! Don’t fucking resort to using spare carboard or fitness gear you already had lying around in the basement!!

Simmons was before Jon getting kicked out, fatty was a net negative, he just walked around peaking the mics and that was the totality of his contribution. Damiel was a non entity due to literally just pretending to be upset and mean or whatever. Betty was interesting but she was instantly kicked out too. Lance literally just did what Vance was already doing which was sit around and go "yeah" he just became another person to sit in a circle and be friendly.

To this day the only media attention I'm aware of that season 1 got was being briefly mentioned in Mauro's tiny New Mexicos local news. They were able to make 1.3 million dollars and pull multiple tens of thousands of live viewers without so much as a Vice article. Not even the "THE ALT-RIGHT HAS IT'S OWN STREAMING SHOW!!!!!" fearmongers touched it. It was completely ignored and still succeeded. It really is incredible.

So what was so great that Letty did that was so interesting that kept you turning in?

I think the freeloaders deserve more credit than they get too, but Letty was the main force driving the conflict. The other fish were all relatively friendly with each other. If they weren't fighting with Letty, most of the time they were just paling around, not doing much of anything. Also a big part of Frank and Fatty's contribution to the show directly involved their interactions with Letty.

Well Vance was a very important freeloader that was great at stirring up shit, but didn’t stay around nearly long enough. Betty was coomer bait who’s only remembered for having a girl’s gone wild moment and being on live for like 2 days, laughable to even bring her up. Simon was important too and fatty had a lot of conflict setup with letty. Overall Letty still had a shit ton of fan engagement, whether positive or negative, and was on the show for more screen time than any freeloader. You don’t have to say the content was great, but it was content and she was the only one willing to be production’s abuse sponge.

She lived in the hell house unlike the other fish, she took the torture and kept going. It was admirable in how resilient she was as things went on with everything against her.

Can we take a moment and acknowledge that this confirms that Cole was kicked for the Nina thing? It's been a point of debate in the thread. But here is Jet coming out and saying it.

Yes but it’s also Jet. Their entire season plan was le epic everyone is the plant troll that fell apart in less than a week and scramble day to day with zero plan. Current le epic troll is Brian thinks the prize is $50k and is told not to tell the other fish. Now I’m just watching to see who becomes the big bad evil in the tank. My guess is it’s Jimmy because of violent outbursts, i can see him losing his mind from not having a goon sesh and he makes it everyone’s problem.

If they push Jimmy to be the villain he'll go all in on his sex thing which the remaining women are already creeped out about and they will leave asap. Brian's romance drama is turn off tune out. TJ is actually low functioning. Jet fucked it up big time this season.
