I was hoping they would do this. It would be more interesting if they gave them access to cigarettes whenever they wanted but the first person to smoke one loses though. This would probably only work in a cell environment because nobody could sneak one out of camera view. It would be like that "delayed gratification" experiment with the babies and the 1 or 2 marshmallows. I want to see people come to terms with their cigarette addictions.

That's my thoughts as well. I understood the pick-me comments back when Tay was being edgy and dropping slurs until Sam told them it was cringe. But almost everything else she's done since then isn't what I consider being a pick-me. She's actually talking to the rest of the fish, she's causing chaos and putting in effort in every challenge. Even though there was no real benefit to cutting her hair, it's still something that gets people talking (or arguing lol) and it shows that she really is willing to do whatever it takes to win. It's not just showing the fans that she's willing to do whatever it takes, it's also flexing to the other fish that she's in it to win and will not be going down easily.
They have been trying to get Tay, TJ, and Trish to cut or snip their hair the whole season, I'm assuming that Tay viewed it as an inevitability and just got it over with to an extent. I will say I'm just annoyed that Tay has to be subjected to another humiliation like this since hair is kinda important for a woman, none of the other Fish have had to go through one hazing and humiliation after another like she has since Jimmy's spergout. She is the only one putting any effort in to this awful show and I include production in this statement. It wasn't even a question that she would do it, without any prompting as well, its productions job to get the other three dead fish to perform, not just grind a single active fish into the ground. They pretend that this is some kind of self improvement arc for each Fish but they don't really do this with Tay. Sam and Vance were idling at the base of the stairs and they gave the appearance that they would halt the hair cutting once she started, but instead they just wandered off. Sam really should have halted it and talked to her about self worth, Tay did it for literally zero benefit, maybe on the vague notion she would get approval from Sam or production. Sam should have told her to value herself more and at minimum make it a transactionable affair to cut her hair or just refuse entirely. She was nowhere near in danger of elimination or falling behind the curve so she could have refused outright.
