With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

as fishtnak fans we shouldn't be surprised by that. but i was more thinking they were cleaning up for another mini season to start right after. so far doesn't look like that will happen thankfully.
 
painting a room is one of those diy things that when you've done it once, you become familiarised with its ease, and any excuse to paint becomes no hurdle at all relative to the work you're putting in vs the transformative effect you're getting
you become addicted to the sweet sweet dopamine hit of feeling like a painting contractor, to slaying the scuffed wall dragon, so what looks like work won't be feeling like work
 
maybe Sam as a chaotic menace is a necessary element to test the Fish's muster without any attachment or remorse compared to BenJet who have to corral the Fish regularly

if that's the case, the solution or passage through Fishtank is to not be menaced by Sam's direction while simultaneously putting Sam into a self-defense situation without being a bitch (like Jon and Jimmy were)

Sam's pressing the red button under his desk because he's got a HOT POTATO on his hands, and they demand with posture to be the winner of his fake game show. He has to carry the mess no matter what happens.

Xavier tends to be fairly clever when he messes with the Fish. The Xayleigh arc and Jon rivalry to ally arc from 2.5 were both very slow burns, and yet they were enjoyable. Xavier always leaves the audience wanting more and escalates at a slow enough pace for the Fish to adapt. This method makes it so that even retards like Jon can be successfully interacted with and made to give the desired reaction.

Both the Xayleigh and Jon arcs were both cut short due to Production being too aggressive. They lack patience and overstep often. Sam takes the exact opposite approach of Xavier. He comes out swinging and is incredibly direct. This has its own value, but a consequence is that he rarely leaves the audience wanting more because he peaks too fast.

When you do stuff like make the Fish chug milk and vomit or endure a very harsh challenge early on in a season there’s simply nowhere else to go content wise. Sam being aggressive results in an early plateau which eventually ends in Production doing literally anything to one up themselves, this is when things like forced boxing matches and Sam harassing Fish for no reason takes place.

Xavier has the ability to lose his ego and play a character. Sam can only play a character for brief periods of time before falling back into his actual personality. Sam does have his role to play, but overall I believe he is best when in character rather than just harassing contestants hoping to get a “lul so random Sam W” from the audience

I just think she was wrong for trying to appeal to them at all. By their nature the most active users on there have a chip on their shoulders. The whole reason they started fawning over Tayleigh in the first place was she was a mini Markey, someone who they believed they could mould into hating the producers based on her bad experience with Frank and with her standing in the finale. It's the same reason they cling to Claire now, she's been shoved around so they're hoping she'll come forward like she's been victimized and be a figurehead for bitching about the show.

Tay naively thought they liked her for her and not as a convenient bludgeon against Sam. As soon as Tay let on that she wasn't feeling that edgy about Sam and was totally willing to return for 2.5 it broke the illusion that Tay would start calling Jet Goran or call for the end of Fishtank or some shit. Claire coming back as a freeloader or accepting a job offer from Jet is going to detatch them from her too. They're better off clinging to Meg or Mauro because those guys have the attitude they're looking for.

It's like reading a Yelp review for a midmarket hotel. Wow, there's cockroaches and bed bugs, and also the front desk lady refused your coupon? I trust this review to the letter!

edit: While I'm thinking of it Leia and Jules were "our girls" in theory because they actually use KF but I don't ever see that level of fawning over them here.

I think it has more to do about her getting a boyfriend and giving less and less attention to her fans (I must have seen one or two of her streams at most so but that's what I hear everywhere) And as Null has said a lot of times, there's no hater like a spurned fan.

I lurked the S2 bant threads before Tay's streaming hiatus and up to the start of S2.5 and I watched them devolve from her being the most lusted for and posted about contestant to becoming the most hated but still most posted about. The longer she went without streaming the more the threads shifting into hating her for being a lazy bitch who is squandering the streaming opportunity given to her, and that she's being ungrateful for her fans by not streaming for them (Kenny Jones much?). While it had gotten bad, they became really rabid once her boyfriend was found just before the show started.
 
there is stuff i dont like about tay, but hate her? nah, id never sit around seething over her or wish bad things would happen. but i do find her simps and ex simps seething to be hilarious. imagine not only simping for a woman who i legit mistook for a tranny, but simping to the point that you literally seethe over her getting a BF which isnt you. god it is so funny.

it is also funny to see first hand examples of how pathetic your average 4chan enjoyer is. i know i can be pathetic at times, but at least ive never been like those guys.

While there is certainly a contingent of spurned ex-taytriot simps who hate her for ridiculous reasons like getting a boyfriend or not streaming anymore, there is also a group of fans who just find her annoying, myself included. It's not true hatred. It's as she said, a "love to hate" sort of thing. She is cringe and when she is involved in a fishtank moment she often makes it worse or just outright ruins it (think "my fears are gone yeah!!!" or screaming at xavier to go away whenever he showed up after the stalker bit exploded in everyone's faces). Hate is a bad way to describe that as I couldn't care less about her when she's not on the show and would never wish her ill in her personal life. Everyone has contestants they like and dislike. You should be allowed to bitch about the ones you find annoying,that's part of the fun of an interactive show.

That's why I dislike her. She presented herself as this poverty stricken little Texan girl who lives in the middle of nowhere and has no friends. Then she's given the perfect opportunity to fix that and she completely fucks it up. She had over 200 crochet orders and is just now starting to fill them after 6 months. She had an army of retards wanting to meme her into fame and easy streaming money but she fucked that up just because she couldn't be assed to play video games in front of a camera for a few hours a week.

It turns out the entire poverty stricken thing was a lie too though since on 2.5 she mentioned she got a 2018 Dodge Ram as a graduation present. So yeah, fuck her. Girls like Taylor and Trish who actually put in effort deserve all the fanfare she got.
