I'm not entirely surprised that Mizzy was able to figure things out, particularly with how much of a reality TV show fan she is (I haven't really been watching the actual streams closely).

Fishtank probably feels very "off" compared to most of the other shows she has watched in that a lot of the house is very sparsely furnished and also the contestants are really "off" and bizarre and not the typical kind of people that would feature on a reality TV show. People like Alex and Burt probably come across as extremely weird casting choices. What kind of a serious reality TV show has a fucking budget inflatable bed in one its rooms?

Plus Sam Hyde and Jet Nepture are weird enough but having cameramen roaming the house that aren't in any kind of uniform and just wearing pretty casual attire is also strange (camera crew almost always wear very plain black clothes for starters). The fact they got told off for nudity was also likely a dead giveaway because logically YouTube wouldn't allow streams featuring nudity. If the show isn't live then production logically shouldn't care since they can just not show or censor the nude footage.

The fact there are IPTV cameras in the corner of each room is also probably a dead giveaway/tell even to someone who doesn't understand technology that well--those cameras and the cameras the roaming crew use look probably very, very different to anything that is typical on any other reality TV show.

Anyway, my main point is that for someone who seriously watches reality TV shows there are enough obvious tells that this isn't on the level of something that would get picked up on Hulu or whatever major TV network. I mean even the Hulu trailer and some other things are "just not there" when it comes to network TV quality may it even more obvious.

How the fuck did Sam and co live right by where the shot Springer and Wilkos for almost 20 years and not have a single connection.

Even as a sperg i was able to hang out with local higher ups in the "syndicated show" industry. Its why i abandoned any dreams of being anything beyond a silly cog in a megacorp.

It would probably be a lot easier now for them to get someone like that now, given this is season 3 of fishtank. But from what I recall when season 1 happened it was the first semi-mainstream thing Sam Hyde had done in ages and most people would not want to work with him.

There are even posts from season 1 where people like Sylvia said they had lost friends over being on fishtank due to Sam Hyde's reputation. Most of the S1 contestants were MDE fans or at least aware of it.

So perhaps they did try to get some outside expertise on things and couldn't actually get anyone to work with them, or perhaps they never even tried. It's hard to say. But season 1 definitely seemed like they just said fuck it and tried to do the whole thing with wigger crew. It would make the most sense since they slept on mattresses in the basement and also edited everything themselves.

I mean even the technical issues and hosting costs and everything from season 1 make it quite apparent that they either didn't or couldn't contract specialists for this type of project.
