With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

I'm not expecting any kind of wholesomeness from Fishtank. I'm saying I personally found the way production allowed Jeff to be almost exclusively targeted by Frank and to a lesser degree Jobe for like four hours straight and then lied to his face about him being the favorite was scummy. Like you're going to make a full grown man cry then gas him up just to keep him around to torment him more? Like come on man.
 
MY big problem with Jeff is that he's the antithesis of the show. While annoying and unfunny, he's also constantly trying to (and failing) to maintain "order" in the tank. He gets in between fights and inserts himself into things because he wants peace. He's treating this like a vacation, like a cruise. It's a fucking game and he's actively trying to stop people from playing it. The only money production is making off this guy is people paying to shut him up. Sadly I don't think production will get rid of him, because he is at least making them some money.

Edit: Just to be clear, I would prefer he was not in the show.

The show is in an awkward position right now. A lot of stories and arcs have been derailed because of Frank. It basically results in a drop in content and a content vacuum that needs to be filled. Frank, outside of his Wild Randy bit and his Burt manipulations has been kind of repetitive. I honestly think Frank was at his best during the build up to the Wild Randy reveal. The build up is better than the payoff. Once there's no more build up or manipulation you just have Frank going around annoying Fish. He'll walk up to them, bug them a bit, and the Fish will either seethe and go down their repetitive anger dialogue tree, or they'll shut down and not react. .Maybe sometimes he'll be shoved or a Fish will punch him, but it's mostly the same. There's nothing unique here. Jeff is just the next guy being thrown to the wolves in order to wring out any remaining content he has left. It's what we've seen for the past two seasons.

I mean he told Jet and Sam Hyde yesterday in the confessional that he got busted for selling 30 grams of fentanyl to an undercover officer. I don't really care that much about drugs personally but fentanyl & meth are both red lines for me.
 
The moment Jeff licked Frank's shoe for a cig I lost all potential remorse for him. He's just your typical pathetic bum who hangs around outside of gas stations hassling people for money and cigs. He's constantly cucking content too by for some reason acting like he's the father of the house and instantly leaping in to stop things from happening.

I'm inclined to agree with you here, he's a freeloader in every sense of the word. He very rarely provides entertainment, and if he had it his way he'd be sat in a room alone drinking and chain-smoking. He treats the place like an all-inclusive hotel, exactly as you've said.

It's somewhat entertaining when he doesn't end up being allowed to do that, either by Frank or Jobe, but his pisshead meltdowns get very old very fast. He doesn't care about winning any challenges, and he certainly doesn't care about fucking with the fish (even if he does so while he's wasted).

Only amusing thing he can do is be a punching bag, but that feels more and more pathetic the longer it goes on and the drunker he is.

To add some context to this because it was pretty funny:
Every other contestant and freeloader was asked into confessional and asked how many pull ups they had done so far and Jet & Sam tried to motivate them to do more.

When Jeff came in, Jet gave him a microphone and asked him to freestyle rap (and told him they did that to all other contestants) and then gaslit him about several things and told him he needed to teach Jobe a lesson. He is literally the most hopeless person there currently by miles.

It's not enforced criminally but all the recordings are illegal and can't be submitted as evidence for a lolsuit.
 
Is Jeff the worst freeloader in Fishtank history? As seen in the previous pages in the thread really does live up to the term, so I guess he's succeeded in that. He's very anti-entertainment (I don't think I really have to elaborate on how or why) which makes me want him out, but the bizarre personal shit he spews out is funny and he annoys the fish which is good too (albeit, in an unentertaining way.) Don't get me wrong, him constantly soliloquizing and arguing at deafening volumes is annoying, but I feel like he is necessary to an extent for that very reason.

In terms of who contributed the least to the overall entertainment of the show and who was the most forgettable Ella from season 1 in my opinion would be the worst freeloader of the series. She also left after around 30 hours of being there. Jeff at the very least you can say made people laugh.

Wyatt from this season lasted for less time and has been entirely forgotten. He also a Creature orbiter. Not only did he royally fail at being a freeloader. He gets an F-

Part of the "entertainment" of Jeff isn't that he makes people laugh through his own antics, but that those antics are actively pissing off everyone in the house and putting them on edge. Frank Hassle in particular already lost his shit with Jeff long ago due to him constantly sperg shouting and not shutting up.

For that reason you can't really dismiss him as the "worst freeloader ever". Because the stuff he has done has inarguably resulted in many events happening that wouldn't have otherwise happened.
