Somebody can correct me if im wrong but i believe that the first night he asked what the beef bell was and got told it was a beer bell. So he used it and got a beer. Now he knows its a beef bell but uses it as a beer bell. It cracks me up every time lol

They knew she is 18 but they probably didn't realize that she was just finishing her Junior year in high school and will be a Senior in September. Ellie is an emergency casting in under 24hr before the show started so its not surprising they didn't get the time to dig into her past.
