I'm pretty conflicted about whether the show was a rug pull or not. People are connecting the dots and putting together some very interesting points that can not be ignored, but a part of me also wants to believe the show producers wanted to finish all 6 weeks of the show. There were moments of transparency like when Jet and Sam stood in front of the camera in the living room in the S1 house and told fans that they are moving the show and for us to be patient and expect downtime, purchase TTS and fishtoys to help support the show (which now feels like they were playing on our emotions to squeeze more money out of us before the 2 weeks ended) and to stick around and not go anywhere.
As fans, we did exactly that and waited patiently. I did not see a lot of bitching about moving Fishtank to the basement of the S2 house, as fans, we were just happy to have the show back and see production fighting against the big mean township that wants to take the show from us. Fishtank could of fed me shit and I would of ate it thinking it was helping the show stay alive and fight boomers who just want to ruin our fun.
Some things that are weird to me are that every season the season pass has been $60, but why was this season only $10? Was it to entice more people who can't afford $60 to buy? There was also a point in the show where they would announce that in order to see the director's camera, you had to have at least 1 stox (I think), so you basically had to spend money to be able to watch the director's camera. At least that's how my memory serves me.
One thing that seemed half-assed to me was that all the beef challenges that occurred when someone rang the beef bell seemed so made up on the spot and thoughtless. I understand that's what Fishtank largely is but I atleast half expected people to be boxing when they rang the bell. At one point when Arye and Freddy rang the bell they had to do a body shot challenge, and they both had to split a single pair of gloves. The production didn't even have 2 pairs of boxing gloves on hand to give them. Showing you exactly how little effort they put into the dynamic of having the beef bell this season.
This was easily the most monetized season, largely due to the stox being implemented. It's really hard NOT to unsee this as a rug pull once people start showing you valid points.
Instead of being mad or feeling like I was underminded and conned, I will simply NOT purchase a season pass for the first time during the next season (if there is one) and see how that plays out. I will also not do a chargeback on my $10 that I paid because even if this was a rug pull and I am doing and saying exactly what they wanted, I feel my $10 was well spent for the entertainment I got.
Sam and the crew need to address the allegations because the picture that is being painted is not good and that's coming from a paying fan of the show for 4 seasons in a row.
